Homeland star Morena Baccarin has nabbed the female lead in Deadpool, Fox's action movie based on the Marvel character.

T.J. Miller and Gina Carano are already attached to the project, which is eyeing a March shoot, and is slated for an early 2016 release.

Baccarin is one of a handful of actresses shortlisted for the hot role as Reynolds' character's love interest. The character grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face.

Still hard to believe that this movie is actually, finally, happening. Fingers crossed they don't stray too far from the style of that leaked test reel.

It's not mentioned in the THR piece, but the film is also apparently bringing

Death was created and defined for Thanos and has a load more appearances before Deadpool was even created. Fox isn't going to fight Marvel over her for a few jokes.

Death is probably a grey area in terms of IP rights, though.

It might be like Hercules and Thor. Anybody can make a Thor movie because the character predates the Marvel iteration.

Carano is likely playing "Keren" (a placeholder name in the call sheets to avoid spoilers). The role required that role to be physically imposing, which is totally Carano's wheelhouse.

"Lindsey" is the love interest character and it reads like Domino. Here it is.
