I've played easily over 100 matches since the patch and not gotten a desync. I even downloaded my classic Mileena from the pre-order finally with no issues. I guess desyncs are only for Sindel players :(

I thought he was supposed to be an Edenian Prince? Although I don't remember him being related to Kitana so...man, I should probably look up his old biographies ha.

His bio back in the UMK3 days was quite limited and only mentioned him been an orphan at a young age, and forced to be loyal to Shao Kahn and betray Edenia during the invasion. Armageddon added the bit of him be a "royalty", by having Quan Chi informing him that he was the son of Argus; and Rain basically wanted a piece of the cake.

This one is kinda similar in that (so far) but they added the resistance-bit probably to add more "depth" to his motives and character, and making him more..arrogant and just interested in power and positions.

I think it was the animated show that introduced Rain as a prince and similar to Kitana.

He was portrayed as Kitana's ex-fiance who was thought to have been killed in battle against Shao Kahn thousands of years ago, sparking jealousy in Liu Kang. He went unmasked throughout this entire episode.​

Well, Paulo Garcia posted some more detailed info of all the patch notes/hotfixes released so far on the official forums. Granted, those are the ones that has been posted already in this thread/main thread; but with more detailed info.

Remember that in order to check which version you have, you have to to go Options, Gameplay Options and press: RB+RT+Y on Xbox 360 or R1+R2+Triangle on PS3.

• Fixed instances where Noob’s Breaker could cause damage
• Noob can now 2-in-1 into all 3 versions of the Blackhole

• Fixed a camera glitch after a successful teleport grab

Quan Chi
• Fixed an exploit allowing Quan Chi’s Trance and Buff special attacks while the opponent was tranced

Raiden
• Adjusted the blocked Superman ball off reaction to allow for easier punishment

• FK, FK, BK’s recovery when blocked is slightly adjusted
• Raiden’s has slightly less advantage after doing his Towards+FK, 2-in-1 into a teleport
• Slightly increased the recovery on a missed Raiden air superman fly

Reptile
• Fixed a rare facing issue that would sometimes cause Reptile’s X-Ray to attack in the wrong direction
• Fixed an issue with the collision on Reptile’s X-Ray that will fix some inconstancies with it landing in specific instances

Scorpion
• Scorpion can no longer be punished by breaking an opponent’s combo near a wall
• Fixed that sometimes when defeating the first opponent in a tag match with Scorpion’s throw resulted in a free hit for the incoming tag partner

Sektor
• Fixed a facing issue with Sektor’s Up+FK attack that should allow it to land more reliably during kombat
• Sektor can no longer be punished by breaking an opponent’s combo near a wall

Shang Tsung
• Fixed an issue where Shang Tsung’s turnaround FK would perform a punch instead of the intended kick
• Fixed an issue where Shang Tsung’s Upward Fireball would track an opponent that had jumped over him well after the windup on the attack had begun

In order to fix the desynchronization errors on the Xbox 360, you must manually re-download the Klassic Kostume DLC files from the Xbox Live Marketplace. Re-downloading the Klassic Skins Pack will not fix the problem. You must re-download the original pre-order skin(s). Instructions for re-downloading:

1. Hit the guide button (XBox Logo button on controller)
2. Go to the right to the tab labelled "Settings"
3. Select "Account Management"
4. Select "Download History"
5. Select the pre-order DLC you wish to re-download.
6. Choose "download again"​

I think the character portraits are intentionally trying to capture the look of those in the older games.

Kind of like how so many animations are recreations of the ones form the older games, leading to complaints about the game's animation.

If you mean the angle and some of the poses then yes, but that doesn't explain the awful quality of the art. It's just badly drawn.

Serious debates with my brother, wether or not we should buy the "Season Pass". How do you guys & gals feel after buying it? Waste? Or should I stick with individual character purchases?

Given the quality of NRS's art staff, which seems formidable, I'd definitely err on the side of assuming the art quality is imitating 90's airbrush, Cover of Diehard Gamefan art.

The joke may be too meta for a lot of people's taste tho, lol.

Well skarlet and kenshi are pretty great and both worth buying, rain is probably awesome just by looking at the trailer. It really just comes down to who the 4th character ends up being, but even then if you are going to get 3 characters, the season pass makes the 4th free, and even if it ends up being like mokap, its still free.

I think its a good deal.

Also rains story trailer is out, and blueberry and lime trailer should be out on saturday, and the rainkast monday.
Seems like his teleport is more like human cyrax's, but the EX version is like a worse version of sektors, since you can't juggle after it.

Haven't played online for some time, so I jumped today and holy fuck I keep encountering lame ass ragequiters. Where these fuckers came from? I played mk online quite much prepatch and was pleasantly surprised at low number of rage quits, but now it's like someone opened bag of shit. Left really bad taste.
One guy had barely 60 matches and like 25-30 disconnects. Generally disconnect stats rose through the roof. The fuck happened to people?

Though, I'm glad I held off on buying the retro pack.

To be fair, my brother didn't purchase his own copy of the game, simply because Kenshi was not in the vanilla roster. So, we were juggling the season pass back and fourth.

No, Rain will come with 2 *new* free outfits and we don't know who yet. The hint was blueberry and lime. Just like how Kenshi came with free retro's for Smoke and Noob and Skarlett came with retro for Cyrax and Sektor.

Blueberry and Lime you say...I'm assuming tons of people have already started the speculation?

I would say Blueberry = Stryker | Lime = Sonya
 
Kitana and Jade are probably the first to pop in many minds but they arleady recieved retro treatment via the costume pack so I doubt it. I'm sure they are only going for characters that haven't received the treatment. I agree that lime is probably Sonya and I would think Cage would get the treatment before Stryker but we'll see.

I don't get it either. But instead of Stryker, it could be Johnny Cage though. However, people have been bugging Boon for old school stryker

She has manish features (and not the only one) and it has nothing to do with GAF. 4 Buddies and I discussed this very topic before I read GAF impressions. The faces are rough and the shoulders are manly, just really not a female physique sans the boobs. Don't care for six packs on my women either.

Never noticed any manly features, they were evident in mkvsdc but here? All I see is teh sexy.

The philosophy behind the patches so far seems to be just way to heavy handed. It just nerfs all around. In some cases way too many of them. I can understand nerfing damage but i really don't like how they've taken the hammer to core characteristics that make a character interesting and fun. Making moves easier to punish in a game where you have to pretty much commit to strings is a really odd decision.

The things that where made easier to punish drastically needed to be, kanos ball, raidens launch strings, KL's spin, these things were way to good.
There has been more buffs then nerfs honestly, and 90% of the nerfs were justified, the only weird changes were the stuff to quan chi, he was already like the worst character in the game, and they nerfed him pretty hard. Everyone hates QC though so no one bothers to defend him.

He really wasn't. He was solid pre-nerf. Much better than Jax, Sheeva, Baraka, Stryker and maybe a couple others.

He's still a top 5 character in the game with Reptile, brainless Raiden, Nightwolf and Sub

Kung lao is still the best character in the game, and one of the most used. They could keep nerfing him more and more and he still would be among the best.

Its mostly because he was poorly/over designed, he can do everything everyone else can as good as they can, or even better, he has top rushdown, great zoning, the absolute best toolbox in the game, an amazing dive kick, his spin is like the best DP in existence, and he pretty much no bad matchups, his toolset allows him to deal with every character in the game, which is amazing considering how matchup heavy MK is.

They nerfed his damage because a character that versatile shouldn't also being doing twice as much damage as everyone else, they also nerfed his ability to do a million dive kicks in a single corner combo, that doesn't really hurt him much actually, and they made his spin more punishable on block, because it was just stupid for KL to just be allowed to spam spin when ever because half the cast didn't have fast enough specials to punish it.

I think if there is a UMK9 or just in MK10, KL is going to have one or two of his moves removed from him, mostly his roll(which he didn't need in the first place) and his teleport will be crippled.

Ill give you the design argument but not the damage. He needed a bar to do over 35 in his bnb. I got over 40 with smoke with no bar fairly easily. i dont really mind nerfs but that list seems like it should be for a cast of characters instead of one.
