I've been using my old custom MK stick I had built for UMK3 when it launched on X360 (and got it signed by Ed Boon himself when I worked at CNET/GameSpot!).

IMO it works really well, so I imagine the TE stick will be just as awesome when it shows up. I also configured my DJ Hero case/pedestal thing to be about the same height as an arcade unit (including stick), and even angled it as such so it tilts slightly toward me (individually adjustable legs ftw!).

For those curious how I laid out the buttons on the stick, I wanted it to be as close to the "classic" style MK as possible, so I went like this:

LP=FP=(A on my joystick)
HP=BP=(X on my joystick)
HK=FK=(Y on my joystick)
LK=BK=(B on my joystick)
BLK=BLK=(RB on my joystick)
Run=Tag=(LB on my joystick)

It makes throwing a tad harder (LP+HK), but I got used to it. X-ray is easily done with BLK+HK+LK. Yes I'm using classic descriptions for those buttons, but its what I know!

Awesome setup! Is that where your username is from? :-D

Question though about your button setup, does it kind of mess up how some special moves are performed? I know at PAX East, the layout had punches on top, kicks on bottom, but the special moves were still mapped to how they would be if a classic layout was used. For example, you would do Sub's freeze move by pressing D,F and back kick, because that was where the original low punch was. Did they change the buttons for special moves? Or are you just going to adapt to that?

That is a sweet setup, and a beautiful TV. I don't think I've seen a Samsung with that slick, ultra thin bezel before. MK looks hot as hell on it!

Amazon confirmed my tournament edition has shipped! Looks like I'll be getting it tomorrow instead of the 21st!

Mine's still marked "shipping soon" but I'm hopeful of the same. I'm going on vacation on Thursday, so I'd like it to get here Tue/Wed so it doesn't sit on my porch for 4 days til I get back.

Attention German GAF, the Online Pass doesn't work in Germany!
This means you can't play online and aren't able to unlock online achievements. I haven't found any solution yet. Has anyone an idea?

What do you mean by doesn't work? You tried using it with your german account and it didn't work? Then create a UK one. There probably will be a small file download associated with it and then try playing with your German account.

Edit: Just saw on the Spielegrotte.de forum that my solution should work. You have to use the code on any other European store because the game has not been officially released in Germany. You will still be able to play with your German account.

Anybody seen a moves list online anywhere? I'm hoping to find something printable, but that's easy enough to make once I find the moves!

collectors edition of the guide comes with move cards for each character, one reason why I bought it.

Yes, it worked. I can play online now. But you must know that everyone who activates the online pass via a foreign account, violates the terms and conditions of Microsoft.

Oh you are on Xbox? I was just sure about the PS3. I think their terms say similar things and I have been doing shit like this for years.

too bad some of the story cutscenes have awful compression. the realtime cutscenes look so much better (360).
This could be due to lack of space, but I suspect the real reason is to keep the videos playing smoothly while the game loads. High bit rate video may not play back smoothly while the engine is loading level data.

Does anyone here already have the PS3 version? Would be interesting to know if there is a difference. I suspect mine will not arrive before next week.

That sounds pretty cool actually, but I don't think it's in my budget right now. Somebody with that guide has surely put the moves online by now though, right?

the transition between realtime and recorded is seemless. i dont think the cutscenes will look much better on ps3 (i get the ps3 version tomorrow), since the ps3 version isnt that much bigger. anyway: the game looks stunning on 360.

How is the online lag on the 360 vs. PS3 versions? Any reports yet?

For the PS3 version of King of the Hill, are there any ways to customize your tiny MK avatar? I've been watching 360 footage and I like how there's a lot more variety in the little characters.

You do? I think it detracts from being in the MK theme and mood.

Is anyone able to access the full gaming portion of GAF? I got to this thread from subscription but gaming says there is scheduled maintenance.

I love avatars, I imagine they'd be fun to hang out while spectating, especially if you know those people IRL.

Well then I'd just be picturing how they look IRL....not their XBOX avatar... lolz

I gave up on avatars early on. It was impossible to make an avatar that even remotely resembled me so I just made mine a hot red head with glasses.

Is anyone else using their SF TE sticks for this?

Yep I tried it on the demo with the default layout and it worked good enough to get a feel for it. Glad the buttons are customizable though.

Clear the cache of your browser. The same thing happened to me but with PMs. When I tried to access them I got that message.

I did have to adjust to the special move locations a bit, however it was most important to me to have D+HP still be uppercut, and B+LK still be sweep, etc. The basics, if you will. Plus a good amount of the character's specials arent really close to the originals anyway, so I'd have to be adjusting regardless... all in all, I'm quite happy with the setup.

Also it may go without saying but just in case it doesnt - when you remap controls, any trainers, move lists, etc in the game will show your corresponding buttons correctly. Example, one of Scorpion's fatalities that normally would result in a final button press of Y, correctly changes to show a final button press of X due to how I remapped.

One caveat I've noticed is some of the like "Press A to continue" screens dont always change to reflect that - such as when I beat the arcade ladder and it says Press A, I have to actually press Y for it to work. lol.

And yes, it is my username origin ;) Basically the shortened, friendly version my pals would refer to me by in IRC/etc.

I did; the 360 version I got with release day shipping went out this morning. The PS3 version without release day shipping is scheduled for the 21st, but it's already in the "preparing for shipment" stage, so it may be earlier.

Cool, just wondering. I'm using a Tekken stick so I'm trying to figure out what my layout is going to be. Thanks!

Would someone mind resizing this to avatar requirment? I'm at work so don't have access to a program to do it myself. Much appreciated!
