This game is awesome. Played all day online and King of the hill is amazing. Can't get enough of it.

Also I'm really liking that most of the players are using headsets since they come with the ps4.

Awesome game, will keep me busy till next year for sure.

Whatever DLC they throw at us, I will buy it.

Shitty fucking online. Even without my router, it takes forever to find a player or ranked match. Error with the faction server. Error with the chat server.

Can't wait for this shit to get fixed.

Can't wait until we get an error message because the error message failed to load.

I remember some people's surprise when Mileena was revealed and she was wearing pants.

Her tournament outfit is so freaking cool.

I don't like her face lol, but her playstyle is legit awesome. Tele, rolls, command grabs... it's like if Abel was top tier again in Street Fighter. :p

I'm 100% committed to Takeda now. I think my win streak is over 20 in a row right now. Feeling myself.

Thank you based Chris G for those combos. I took them to the lab, got them down, and changed a few. Some I am willing to end in uppercut and lose 2-3% simply for a simpler and 100% guaranteed ender versus risking it on my execution on online net code shenanigans.

Takeda has so many ways in Shin variation to open up the entire cast. Lows, highs, teles, jump back spear, etc.

He's gotta be top 5 in this game right out of the gate.

So, can someone explain the logic behind the damage dropoff in combos? Take Cryomancer Sub-Zero for instance:

This combo is 16 hits, 36% damage.

http://a.pomf.se/erhhdh.webm

But if you take the last part of the combo by itself, it's the same damage, but only 11 hits.

http://a.pomf.se/yjkfzn.webm

However, if you add in a freeze and several hits, you actually LOSE damage -- 14 hits, 34% damage.

Is this standard in fighting games? If so, what is the logic behind it?

How am I supposed to beat Kenshi's online who spam the ranged spirit attacks? I can't get in close. I can block all day but there's so little lag time that I can't ever get in toward them.

Proclivities: a strong natural liking for something that is usually bad : a tendency to do something that is usually bad

Liu is referencing Kung Jin's past as a thief, he has strong shaolin beliefs so it'd be going against his character. He also doesn't seem to hate Jin during their dialogue
We don't really know if Liu is referring to that. He could be referring to the fact Jin is gay.

I actually like her face now that she doesn't look like Baraka anymore. She has dem fangs on the side of her lips now, looks much better.

Damage scaling, from my limited understanding, is where the further you get into the combo, the less damage each successive move does. Some moves contribute to the damage degradation than others, it's a standard practice in most modern 3D fighting games I'm pretty sure. The freeze special likely decreases the overall damage a lot more than normals. Dunno much about MK's mechanics, though, it could be different.

I wonder if there are some joke costumes like Mileena's flesh pits costume from that secret trophy. It's probably a secret character though.

Best costume in the game, ha. That'd be awesome if more stuff like that is in.

In most fighting games the more hits in the combo the less damage the later hits do. The first hit gets 100%, second gets 90%, third gets 80% etc. but, some moves add extra scaling and multi-hitting moves scale damage differently. Eventually, there's s point where damage stops scsling down. That's the way it works in many fighting games, but I'm not sure how it works in MK.

Okay, thanks guys. I don't play a lot of fighting games, but it just seems counter-intuitive to reward the player with less damage for doing higher-hit combos using essentially the same strings.

It's easier to setup high damage moves off the freeze compared to something like a ground bounce, so they probably had to scale it more aggressively. I don't think they purposely punish high hit combos but the lower damage is something that emerges from the properties of the scaling.

The more hits in a combo, the less damage you will do.
If this didnt happen you would see people use their x ray mid combo, since it would just add +30% to whatever combo you use in.

Is something up with the dlc for predator/Jason? I bought it, but nothing shows up in-game. If I select the pack from in game it says no content available.

You still are doing more damage with each hit so you are rewarded for longer the combos is, the scaling is largely to prevent players from being taken out in one or two combos, which would be no fun.

Corrupted Shinok wouldn't be 'bout Jack fucking shit without that flame thrower move... Same with Goro and that punch walk.

Take that away and they're as threatening as baby lamb's.

What's the best beginner character (online incl.)?
I'm currently using Mileena. Won 4 out of 10 matches online. Not bad but I'm still not good of course.
I don't like SubZero or Scorpion because they feel "cheap" imo.

Erron Black has a lot of cool easy to use moves.

Second fatality is:
Far. Back, Toward, Back, Toward, Triangle (PS4) Y (XboxOne)

I can't wait for |Mortal Kombat| (My MK11 naming guess) to abandon the old cast in favor of the new. As much as I'd prefer not to, I'd even sacrifice Reptile if it meant fresh faces only (in addition to ageless or slow aging characters). D'vorah is a good enough replacement, anyway.
