Mortal Kombat X |OT| This is NOT a Brutality. This is a FATALITY

Sub-Zero can be played well if you know how to space his clone and use it as a shield behind clone throw, slide, or ice blast. Once you push your opponent to the corner you use it to setup throws and B2 overhead mixups. I've found playing Sub easy, just his optimal damage combos are hard because they use run (I also suck at run combos).

It sucks to be a noob at this game. I still can't combo online and my blocks are iffy at best, I always drop the button mid-combo. But I’m making (slow) progress , I think I found a main with D´vorah , at least with her I don’t jump so much because of the reach of the pincers.

Yeah that sounds about right. Raiden isn't very execution heavy.

And generally most of his combos especially linked after the Shocker can easily do about 30% damage or so.

The only problem with combos with large hit amounts is the scaling, the more hits in a combo, each subsequent hit does less and less damage, this is especially so for X-Rays which scale horribly.

Which is short but high damage combos are preferable for example.

These are good combos I need to learn as an aspiring raiden user. I need to get better at linking into the EX Shocker. I can combo from it just fine but I have trouble linking into it

The only thing that strikes me as OP about grandmaster subzero is that he can shoot ice through the proctiles but you can't without destroying them first. Both players should get blocked by it equally

Milleena can't be unlocked yet, needs Raiden Challenge. You get the Raiden skin for linking your console and mobile WBID accounts together. Sadly you will need to activate the mobile game once to get everything remaining.

Unlocking Future Raiden actually only requires logging into WBID from console, you don't need the mobile account.

Jumping is actually good in MK, its not like Street Fighter where your a sitting duck most of the time.

That's mainly due to the speed of jumps and general lack of anti-air's with frame invincibility. I mean moves similar to the Shoryuken aren't usually in MK, but there are some exceptions, like Johnny's Flip Kick, Sonya's Arc Kick, and Raiden rising shoulder charge, and Jax's Knee. However because of the lack of invincible start up like the Shoryuken for example, these special anti-airs won't beat jump ins but will generally trade hits.

Really enjoying Texas Showdown tonight, some great matches so far. I definitely prefer to watch than play right now with online being so bad. We've still got lots to come as well and it's already 12 here, but sod missing it.

HEY GUYS, REMEMBER MK SPECIAL FORCES

I guess Noface was too lame to even get a makeover.

Think i'm changing from Kung Lao to Jax. Loving Jax in this game. Kung Lao combos I can't seem to pull off on my controller. I've been playing Pumped Up, but I feel like when I get better it's probably a good idea to change to Wrestler?

btw where can I watch Texas Showdown?

It would bug the shit out of me if people kept coming up whispering in my ear and tapping on my shoulder. What are they even saying? Bitch if I'm in the final I don't need advise from your eliminated ass.

What a game

It just seems like so much more work for so much less payout and mix ups compared to BoJitsu.

Less Damage and you lose out on some solid abilities.

Yeah, no doubt, but is far less boring to watch. I hate watching Bojitsu Kung Jin (and playing against him); almost as bad as Erron Black, Slasher Jason and Inferno Scorp.

Think I get it, though. Someday Boujutsu's gonna get nerfed... and all that Ancestral experience is gonna pay off.

Also for Chris, prolly a comfort level thing. This variation is exactly like Green Arrow from Injustice (who was his go-to).

Thunder God just seems so superior to Ancestral, you have to work so hard for pitiful damage, and you have to constantly give up pressure to reload.

Yep. Chris was the better player there. If he actually had better damage/pressure he would have easily beat digits.

That grandfinals was crazy. Back and forth. Great to watch, and glad to see a Kung Jin player lose. I find that character super broken, but Raiden isn't much better lol.

Also from Texas, so seeing a Texas person win doesn't hurt at all.

Kung Jin Bojitsu? Debatable on broken.

King Jin Ancestral that Chris G played? FAR from broken lol.

Like everyone posting above you Chris G would've had that if he had picked anything else that breaks 30+% easily. He had to get 5ish correct reads/combos compared to 3 from Raiden.

Have never seen anyone do that well with Ancestral. He would've won at a canter if he played Bojitsu.

Boujitsu is the only variation of Kung Jin's that can be considered "dumb". He can convert into easy 25%+ damage off of pretty much anything.

I feel the same way, I hope Chris rethinks his variation for the next tournament.

Watching these tournaments really makes me wish I had put all my MMO time and effort into fighting games, I'd love to be a part of the UK scene at a high level. Plus you get to leave the house and socialise instead of sitting by yourself and raiding for 6 hours a night :D

My favorite fighting game of all time so far. I'm loving this game even though I suck at it. Kenshi is my main and I'm having a hard hard time trying to beat Ferra/Torr on HARD difficulty. He has the spacing, the anti-air, the long range throw, the unblockable run down special, the grab, etc.. I just can't win 1 match with him.

True. I just see people pick Kung Jin and hate it. But you're right, he didn't use the ridiculous variation.
