Mortal Kombat X |OT| This is NOT a Brutality. This is a FATALITY

My favorite fighting game of all time so far. I'm loving this game even though I suck at it. Kenshi is my main and I'm having a hard hard time trying to beat Ferra/Torr on HARD difficulty. He has the spacing, the anti-air, the long range throw, the unblockable run down special, the grab, etc.. I just can't win 1 match with him.

If it makes you feel any better, Hard difficulty in this game is really hard. Much harder than on MK9.

In fairness Kenshi seems to be one of the weaker chars in the game, takes A LOT more work with him to win.

but im sure he has dirty set ups that havent being found yet

He is harder on execution, but his far left variation is dirty as shit. He can keep putting you into a vortex of guessing non stop that can end you in 3 set ups. That said though he does feel bottom 5 of the whole cast.

Also, I find Chris G hella immature and disrespectful. How he has any fans I have no idea.

I feel the same way, I hope Chris rethinks his variation for the next tournament.

Watching these tournaments really makes me wish I had put all my MMO time and effort into fighting games, I'd love to be a part of the UK scene at a high level. Plus you get to leave the house and socialise instead of sitting by yourself and raiding for 6 hours a night :D
As a fellow MMO player I feel ya. But in reality you'd probably spend that same 6 hours grinding combos and learning every single matchup possible, not including the time invested in watching other top players and reading forums.

FGs require a buttload of time upfront, but can be maintained with only a few hours a week outside of patches and updates.

.

He's a very emotional player. He gets hype when he wins, and upset when he loses. He has fans because hes incredibly solid at multiple games, not sure if it's a personality thing. Not trying to defend him or anything, but I find him far less disrespectful than say FChamp.

Yeah, FChamp rubs me the wrong way.

They had to have made living towers more hard, first match in a hourly one the computer dashed and and comboed my ass like I've never seen before. Had me shook for a moment because they are always brain dead

So... He's a child?

Anyway, I think there should be quitalities offline too for vs mode. They're made just for salty quitters/rematchers like Chris G.

I get that it may be legit in other games, but it comes off as highly rude and immature in MK, where the round finisher is one of the series' defining aspects.

Except that's how they did it every game this tourny (I assume to speed things up)...It wasn't just ChrisG lol. Some games were restarted even before the EX finished as it was obvious the other player had won.

He seems fine to me, don't know what you're on about.

UltraDavid actually explained why they do it since it was happening so frequently, it's just quicker. When time is of the essence, like in tournaments, no one cares about the ending animations. They were probably specifically banned, actually, knowing how tournaments are usually handled.

Man, fuck this shitty port.

Anyone else have to start up the game twice every time because the resolution is messed up on the first try?

Which requires constant meter usage for such little gain. I dropped Kenshi after a few days of using him since he's just not that good of a character.

Edit: Kung Jin Bojutsu is not broken, nor does he break the game in anyway. He's just really, really good and has no inherent weakness, but broken? Not by a long shot.

I feel like I started this game way too late already. I feel like I've already missed the curve on multiplayer.

Look at the 2009 FGC players. Some of the early adapters are still there, but there's a huge percentage of players who came on board after the 90's 2D era shifted. Predator isn't even out yet.

I'd think their DLC cast would try to sell the game months later.

Which is what I don't get. They need to sell the game beyond its first year. It needs to be around till the next MK comes out. A customer should feel welcomed when they buy that new entry a year after it launches. Otherwise what value are you giving each fighting game? In the 90s you went back and forth at times. Each game was different. I played XMvsSF, went to MvsSF, and then ended with MvsC. Now a days it stays on a fighter, it gets dropped for the next entry, and then that's it. I don't even want to think what's going to happen to SFIV when SFV comes out? Is there a reason to keep playing SFIV after V is out for a solid year? Who is still playing MK9?

I haven't seen the console MK's (DA,Deception, Armageddon) since Maximilian had them on his stream prior to MKX's release. Otherwise I had not seen Armageddon since it was out on PS2. I mainly played those on GC and PS2 by myself.

Bojitsu is definitely what I've started to play myself most online after not feeling my Takeda in higher level player matches.

A guy who's ranked like top 10 Mileena's played me in a ft5 on his stream with my Takeda and I couldn't take a damn game. Did another ft5 later with my Kung Jin and we went final game final round neither of us with health left and I made a wrong read.

I've scraped the whole cast clean and variations, and online I can't play a lot of the combos I can do offline with most of them. Kung Jin combos even on lag connections I can pull off.

Still hoping Tremor isn't ass and I can end up just maining him. :/ Love most of the cast, but only a few are reasonable for my level of play.

Any PS4 users who haven't unlocked Revenant Kung Lao, Revenant Jax, and Hot Shot Johnny wanna work together online to get them?

Edit: I guess Jax you have to get offline.

???

I'm not super great at this game, but I really like playing Kenshi... why isn't he good?

Just play who you want to play. You can get good enough with almost any character to be competitive anyway.

I've been bouncing around quite a few characters recently who I quite enjoy - Raiden, Kotal, Ermac, Kung Jin - and I don't know if I should drop any of them. I'm not too familiar with fighting game mechanics so I wanna make sure I'm not handicapping myself.

I'm a bit of a scrub too; but out of those Kung Jin is the easiest to learn. Kotal Kahn I find quite tough.

Ermac frustrates the hell out of me online, have never played as him though. Raiden's combos seem reasonably easy to pull off too.

So while I can combo (or should I say *****) in this game, I find it really hard to beat cheap players. Someone was hitting me with a low kick as Sub zero yesterday and I couldn't stop him. I find there's no wake-up (was playing with Kitana) and basiacally, if I blocked, they'd keep hitting till there was enough distance to start a particular combo and then go back into the low kick.

Any advice on wake-up/what I should be doing?

Sounds like they like to press counter poke them with down circle and then try a combo, thos depends highly on how your playing

the damage scaler is so weird in this, you can do very droppable 11+ hits with scorpion for like 27% damage, or you can just do pop up punch, jump kick teleport and uppercut for the same.

yeah it has a system for every launch and move that raises the juggle scales big so you want to do a juggle that doesn't keep popping them up, same with freeze and cancels, the trick to high damage is hit them as hard as you can but you stun/pop/ them then do you MB special as early as possible as it doesn't scale like the rest

I'm using the Kenjitsu variation (far left). What are the setups?
