In Back to the Future 2 there is a scene where Biff returns from the past only to wobble out of the car and slowly die. What happened was that in the alternate future Lorraine shoots Biff for 'killing' Marty on the roof.

Back to The Future II always makes my head hurt.

Jean Claude VanDamme was the Predator in the movie The Predator.

For 2 days.

He didn't realize that he was going to be in a costume the whole time so he left the film.

Edit: I think I remember reading that the actual alien had a different design when he was in the role.

You'd be amazed how many people don't care about anything except actors, even less in cartoons unless they recognize a voice

Go to a theater and watch how many people are out of their seats before the first name shows up on screen

I have no hope that they read the closing credits, but I thought they'd be aware enough to read the opening titles.

OT anecdote about stupid movie goers...

Went to see a broadcast of a Queen concert at the local movie house. The auditorium in which it was playing had been previously screening the latest Saw. I sit down and see a few groups of teeny-boppers and a few groups of middle-aged people. Simple profiling said that the teens and snuck in to see Saw, not knowing that there was to be a special presentation. I tried to help one of the groups of kids and they did not understand what I was saying!

So the show starts and the kids are still there. TWO SONGS IN, one of them gets up and figures out that they are in the wrong theater! All the teenagers leave at this point. However, the fun did not stop there. During the film several more groups of teens wandered in to the show. You'd think the sight of old dudes rocking out on stage in front of tens of thousands of people, plus the shot-on-video look, plus the lack of traps, Jigsaw, creepy puppets or sickly lighting just MIGHT clue in the dopey kids that they were not watching saw. Without fail, they'd wander in, look stupidly at the screen, and then sit down. It did not matter if I told them they were not watching Saw. More than one of these groups sat through a complete song before figuring it out.

I could not believe this level of media ignorance.

In passion of the Christ, its Mel Gibson's hand that we see driving the hammer down to put the stake through Christ's hand on the cross.

The many arrows landing inches away from Toshiro Mifune during the climax of Throne of Blood were real. IMDb:

"The famous arrow scene near the end was in fact done with real arrows. That is, the arrows hitting the wooden planks were not done with special effects, but rather choreographed with archers. Mifune waves his arms to brush away the arrows sticking from the planks, indicating to them that he wanted to go in that particular direction. The real arrows were included to get Mifune's facial expressions of real-life fear, which is exceptionally hard to imitate."

I love that movie already, and now I love it more.

Similarly, the scene in The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly where Tuco uses a passing train to cut his handcuffs off, was also real. Leone somehow convinced Eli Wallach to lay down and wait for the moving train, the result of which was one and only take (which they used) and a near decapitation for Wallach.

Atreyu's horse Ajax in the first The NeverEnding Story Movie actually died while they were shooting it's death scene in the swamps. The hydraulic lift broke, the horse drowned. They used the shot, of course!

I thought the horse was named Artex, not Ajax.

When shooting the helicopter highway sequence for Terminator 2, Cameron told a cameraman to go home after he deemed the shot featuring the chopper going under the bridge too dangerous - refusing to shoot it. After the cameraman left, Cameron strapped himself to the side of the SWAT van and shot the scene himself.

Similar story: In Titanic when the ship goes vertical, Leo and Kate were required to stand on the bow which was now 200ft high. Kate Winslet initially refused, saying 'and just where will you be Jim?', before he replied '150ft above you leaning over the crane, getting the shot'. She did the scene.

wrong. if you watch the deleted scenes in the trilogy release with the commentary on, zemeckis explains why old biff collapses after stepping out of the delorean, a scene which confused many audience members. if you remember in part 1, when it looks like marty is just about to fail getting his parents together, he collapses and his arm begins to disappear, because he no longer exists in his time line in the future. essentially the same thing is happening to old biff. by giving himself the sports almanac in the past and thus changing events that lead into the future, old biff is more or less erasing himself and creating a new time line.

anyway, keeping in tune with the thread, one of the scenes in back to the future (in front of the twin pines mall) was filmed in my neighborhood.

The "man dressed as Father Christmas" who stabs Angel in the intro to Hot Fuzz is Peter Jackson

Nicholas Angel's ex-girlfriend, the forensics woman with the mask on the whole time, is Cate Blanchette.

Thats good to know, because I remember when I was watching the trilogy on VHS and there was that 4th tape with Kirk Cameron, they explained that Biff disappeared, because at some point during his life, Lorainne got fed up with him and his shit and shot him. So when he got to the future he gets out of the car, falls to the ground and disappears. I am pretty sure that that scene does exist on the VHS and I am sure the DVD extras

Theres an awesome easter egg in the teaser trailer for Apocalypto.

http://www.apple.com/trailers/touchstone/apocalypto/

About 3/4 of the way through you see a quick scene with a monkey screaming. Pause it, and rewind the trailer frame by frame.

Wait I don't see anything...

And another similar story to Jamie Lee Curtis: "Oh, yeah. And just where are you going to be while I'm dangling way up there in the air, Jim?" "Hanging out the door filming you with a hand-held camera."

I posted this in another thread but in Pulp Fiction, Mia and Vincent didn't win the Jack Rabbit Slims dance competition but they stole the trophy. You find out later that they didn't win after Butch walks by an apartment that has a radio newsreport about a couple stealing the trophy from there. It is probably safe to assume that Vincent didn't have to pay for Mia's 5 dollar shake either.

In Fight Club, Marla's line after having text with Tyler was originally "I want to have your abortion", Fox 2000 Pictures President of Production Laura Ziskin was appauled and asked David Fincher to change it. He said he would, but with one caveat - the new line would be final.

He chose "I haven't been fucked like that since grade school", Ziskin was more outraged than ever, asked Fincher to change it back, but Fichner refused.

Edit to include your response: lol I figured, I was just teasing because the one after the other was well timed

Life is fun when you are literate, although most people require me to dumb myself down or else I spend too much time being a dictionary for my own phrases ;.;
i'm not amazed because i get up when the credits roll. who the hell wants to watch a million names flash by?

Another one from fight club is the scene where they're hitting golf balls they were actually drunk and they were aiming at the catering truck.

In the movie Teen Wolf at the end when Michael J. Fox wins the basketball game and everyone runs off the bleachers to celebrate, there is an extra standing on the bleachers in the background that has his dick out for a moment (he's wearing a red sweater). The extra then proceeds to tuck himself back into his jeans and zips his pants back up. Not only did no one catch this and in made the final movie, but the best part is when they edit the movie to play on TV it's still there.

That's great. I never knew the story behind the line, but I knew that the orginal line is still in one of the extras on the DVD.

Sadly, in many movies that is the best part.
well duh i don't get up when there's still a scene/bloopers while the credits roll. but i absolutely will not sit and watch a black screen for 10 minutes.

I just learned this one thanks to GAF.

In Star Trek IV, in the scene where Checkov is asking around where to find navel vessels, the last person who stops to talk to him and says she doesn't know and she thinks it's in Alameda, she didn't know they were filming a movie and he had asked just some random stranger.

An R2-D2 figurine appears on the model of the mothership from Close Encounters. It can be seen in the movie upside down during the close up of the ship rising from behind Devil's Tower.

Current Akira scribe Gary Whitta's only previous writing gig was writing dialogue for PC Gamer's mascot, Coconut Monkey. Rumor has it that Appian way picked up Akira only after Leonardo DiCaprio made the connection (a huge Coconut Monkey fan).

Cool. When I read this post, I thought "What, is he one of the Frat Boys?"

And he is. :lol

In Dr. Strangelove, during the scene when they are going over the contents of the survival kits and Slim Picken's character says ""Shoot, a fellow could have a pretty good weekend in Vega with all that stuff," you may notice that the word "Vegas" was dubbed in. This is because he originally said "Dallas," but the movie was set to release soon after JFK was assassinated (in Dallas), so they decided to change the line and postpone the movie a month or two.

He has his own freaking wikipedia page, look at the list of things he has written before you embarrass yourself
