Keith David as a talking fish convinced me this show is going somewhere special.

Anyone else think the "you've only existed for a month" line might be some weird metacommentary on television? After all, we're exactly a month in to the show.

Yeah that was an interesting line in my opinion, too.
I hope it's more than simple 4th wall breaking for the sake of it, since the idea that the viewer is effectively part of the show's world, is a major aspect.

There was also the line about some Hollywood writer blowing away the portrayal of hackers or something like that.

OK, I am thinking of dropping this show. last episode was just plain boring with nothing happening except setting up things.

I wasn't too hot for this show in the first place, but last episode made it easier.

Stop watching and wait to binge watch it. It's only the fourth episode. You've got to introduce the characters, motivations, underlying storylines and themes.

I don't watch too much television but definitely enjoy it more than Ballers and True Detective S2 (though it might redeem itself).

Damn. That episode was trippy. This show is really shaping up to be good. I'm curious as to how they are going to develop.

Yes great episode, lived up to the hype of the first one.

Trippy episode, wasn't expecting a long shot on the show but it was cool, the dream hallucinations never worn out there welcome. I like the scene of Eiilot on the bed crying and thinking he is all alone til Slater comes out of the shadows and tell him he's not going anywhere and we're in this to the end.

I've watched lots of netflix originals lately and binged them all.

It's a nice change to have to wait a week for the next episode. Allowing the latter to sink in and digest.

That said, hurry up next week!

Also, is anyone else expecting there is more to Angela going along with the plan than her father's info? Like, how could they screw with her father's info so bad that he could never come back? They aren't in any trouble and could just show the disk and the threat to the police or her boss and thus have her accounts and identity protected. I feel like there is some other secret about her finances she doesn't want getting out.

Concur. I don't get Angela's motivation at all. And her BF wanted to upload the data anyway, why would she steal the disc to do that herself? I get her wanting to show it to Elliot, but not compromising the network.

Oh, and she's be on camera.

This episode, man... what the hell? lol

I love this show. And Angela + Shayla... wth² hahah
I don't get that kissing scene at all, I mean the episode seemed to focus heavily on duality and showing the sides we having seen yet but I was thinking huh the whole time.

The dualities of Elliot finding clarity in withdrawal/detox while Angela is the opposite, finding more about herself while in extasy?

That's one way to look at it, I think.

Why the scene had to have them kissing, I have no idea. Her making out with the same sex shows Angela being free for once, letting loose the 'bad bitch' inside of her.

I was wondering why he doesn't just buy drugs online like from those darknet silkroad type websites?

He knows about tor and the darknet.

I think he probably fairly safely assumes none of that stuff is actually anonymous. There's always some level of paper trail.

Interesting to read the theories in this thread. Hadn't really even considered that Mr. Robot wasn't a real dude. I think at least prior to this episode that the pier scene is the only one that would give this idea more credence to me. I guess the scenes with Elliott seemingly being behind the mask help the idea too.

Yeah, I cringed hard at that scene because it was so bad. It's that dumb Hollywood cliche' that girls are more "adventurous" than boys or deep down are all lesbians when on drugs. Yes, it turns out that recreational drug use is actually what makes people Gay, who knew. Fuck outta here with that crappy nonsense.

Yes, Elliot says so in the very first scene of the show. It's how he busts "Ron's" darknet child porn ring.

That said, I think it's not too far-fetched to assume that maybe they don't want to advertise an actually real way for kids to find drugs online.

Have you ever had MDMA, though? I have and I thought that scene made sense. It could happen.

Felt a bit like a clichè to me.

I wonder if anyone will have the balls to do a scene like that with two dudes, though.
They always do it with girls, and especially given that the dude that does go with another man, does so for nefarious reasons.

I'm running warm on this show now. I don't find the story interesting at all, but the visuals and soundtrack are great.

I think Tyrell's one night stand thing just as cliched though? We don't know all the motives behind that story line yet.

Has anyone on tv ever done this while it not being for joke reasons? I'd like to see it happen.

Don't we? The dude he slept is in the run to be the next CTO, he pretended to be gay and had sex with him in order to hack his phone and hopefully destroy him placing himself back in line to be the next CTO.

I thought that was the CEO's personal assistant. It was a bit overboard too as I would think he'd just have admin access to the mail servers etc.

100% convinced that Mr. Robot is all in Elliot's head now.

God damn was episode 4 fucked up.

Angela cheating on her boyfriend with Shayla... Though her BF was emotionally cheating on her first, to be fair.

And Shayla cheating on Elliot with Angela, who's been his best friend since childhood.

Then was it just me or was there tons of sexual tension between Trenton and Darlene. At least on Trenton's side at least? Maybe she fell for Darlene but it'll be unrequited.

And that's not to mention all the drug addled shit that happened.

Like, what the fuck.

From the creator:

Although really every show creator these days says that.

I'm curious how he intends to extend it by that much. Apparently this show was originally a movie script but the creator kept writing and it got too long to be a movie. So the implication seems to be he went from a 2 hour story to a story (in his mind) that is 4-5 seasons long.

Let's see if he can pull off 1 season first. It's looking good but depending on where it goes, it might all turn to shit.

I thought that was the CEO's personal assistant. It was a bit overboard too as I would think he'd just have admin access to the mail servers etc.
Nah, he's an exec. He doesn't have to tweak servers and set up user accounts, so there's no reason for him to have direct admin access. Even if he did, it'd be pretty stupid to pull nefarious things on your own account/machine.

Opinions and all. But HOW.

:|

Not sure this could go on so long, it should be 2 or 3 seasons, tops. Let's see what they got.

Why only 2 to 3 seasons? Just less chance to screw it up or do you have another reason for thinking that?

Going for 4 or 5 season though, I do wonder how the story will change from season to season, I mean I don't think its going to be all about going after the evil corporations every season right? Its hard to imagine 5 seasons of trying to bring down a corporation.

Went back and rewatched a bunch of scenes. They definitely work if Mr Robot isnt real. All scenes shot perfectly ambiguous. And in all honesty, Darlenes reactions hint at it the most. Her knowing where he lives, talking to him as if theyve known each other for awhile, responding to things like "where's your boss" with "cut the bullshit." All the scenes work if he is real though too so its not guaranteed

I wonder what all the hallucinations were all about last ep. Random key. Who's your monster. You are not Elliot, you are.."cut scene"

Good stuff

I mean debate all you want about how many seasons it could go but 4 episodes so far have been amazing. Show is probably in the top 3 shows on tv right now. Fucking USA

I'm not as blown away by this show as some people seem to be, but I'm enjoying it. That dream sequence dragged on way too long (as most dream sequences seem to do). I don't quite like Elliot's boss or Angela. They both drag the show down a little bit for me because I just think they're bad actors.

Weird, those are probably the two characters i enjoy more.

The edgy hackers are sort of annoying tho (Elliot aside).

Um, emotionally? Did you miss the part where he's been banging other girls for (presumably) a long time?

Was this posted? It's Nathan Fillion moderating a fan interview with Rami and Slater, so pretty great stuff. You can tell what type of people are watching so far because some of the questions are pretty smart. Some dude actually asks them if they would personally support Mr Robot's idea of wealth distribution (Rami says no, Slater dodges it).

(It's really weird how two dudes make the same dumb joke about Slater's character in Breaking In.)

Thanks, the audio volume sucks though!
