Mr. Robot season_2.0 |OT| We Would Care, Bill - Wednesdays on USA

For those raving about the directing on this show, and rightly so, it might be worth trying out the new Cinemax show Quarry, debuting tonight. Here's a quote from Sepinwall's review:

"And the show deserves enormous credit for how wonderfully it looks and sounds. As a guy who's worked primarily in TV, for the last 20 years, Yaitanes doesn't arrive on the project with the shiny movie credibility of a Steven Soderbergh or even a Cary Joji Fukunaga, but Quarry is every bit the directorial achievement that The Knick or True Detective season 1 were".

I'm tempted to re watch this season up to the latest episode again before next week. I am struggling to follow Phillip Price's storyline, if it is even spelled out right now.

If Darlene didn't die and manages to get away I think that would be dumb. First the Assassin being dumb and letting them notice him first and then the FBI letting her slip away again would be too much luck when she hasn't even been on top of her game, she should be caught by now.

This makes no sense at all.

I don't know why people are STILL perpetuating the Tyrell is Elliot theory. Primarily because Joanna would have known about Elliot and called him that instead of Ollie. Not to mention, how do you explain all the AllSafe scenes where you see Tyrell interacting with Elliot and Terry Colby, never mind that he offered Elliot to work for ECorp in S1E1. THe theory is very flimsy and falls apart quickly.

Pretty much.

Could be a third personality going forward though. If he really is dead, Elliot talked to him on the phone after he may or may not have killed him, so yeah if he actually did kill Tyrell, he basically may have created a third split personality for himself. We'll see if Tyrell is alive, or dead, but Elliot hallucinating at least a phone call from him, which could develop into another full blown split.

Would be kind of dumb, but I could see her being blood splattered/ketchup splattered and Dom assuming she was hit and is either dead or not going anywhere. Maybe she didn't even get hit or just got grazed and slipped out the back door before Dom goes back inside the restaurant.

Anyone else half expect a 'the calls are coming from inside the house' moment when Elliot checked the coordinates?

I was adamant Tyrell was alive before this week's ep, but now I'm not so sure.

Yeah I thought when he said look for something in his room that it was under the rug. And then calls from inside his place made sense but then I realized he lives upstairs in an apartment and that makes no sense lol. Interested to find out what's going on in the next two weeks.

Binged through all 10 episodes. I can't believe I now have to wait a whole week to find out what happens next.

I remember hearing mixed thoughts about this season. Those first few episodes were rough, but this has been just as good as season 1.

I think people that wanted more of the hacker/thriller bent are the ones disappointed. It's very good, but it's very different, as the fun times are over and the world collapses in on them.

Well fuck me sideways with a cucumber, just caught the two latest episodes, that was amazing TV!

Utterly amazing, so gutted it ended, that was some tense shit, the music across those two episodes was on point! And that music in the final quarter of the latest episode was epic, got me right on the edge of my seat.

Whatever it was Mr. Robot wanted from there.

It hurts when IP is my SSID hahaha

I'm the opposite. I was so adamant that Tyrell was dead until the last episode. Mr. Robot already admitted to shooting Tyrell, so why is he now so scared of Elliot finding out what he's about to do? Not to mention, Elliot said he wanted to come to terms and as a result, accepted that he killed Tyrell.

As for the phone call, it could be either Tyrell about to kill Scott Knowles (it IS weird that we haven't heard from him after fsociety forced him to burn off 6 million dollars publicly, and could explain the wheezing noises). Or maybe Tyrell got shot and is still feeling the effects. In any case, I think the fact that Mr. Robot disappeared in fear means that the original scene where Elliot got the phone call is most likely Elliot getting mentally manipulated by Mr. Robot, so that he stops asking questions.

This show just keeps building up the intensity and piling on the anxiety

Fuck. So good.

I'm half-convinced the Elliot sections post-Mr. Robot disappearing are all inside Elliot's head. This is Mr. Robot quarantining Elliot while he does Phase 2. I half-expect the first part of the finale to end on the note that everything Elliot has done from this point on isn't real or is a projection courtesy of Mr. Robot becoming dominant.

I really want to believe Season 3 is going to be the Superior Spider-Man version of Mr. Robot; Mr. Robot becoming dominant and executing his plan while Elliot struggles to win back his mind from the inside, in the process showing just how fucked up his childhood was.

Just got around to watching the latest episode. Last half was incredibly gripping!

Don't think anybody's said it, maybe because it was so obvious, but on the train there were two adverts next to Elliot and Angela that had PHASE on them. Phase... two... Maybe that's his brain telling him to start it or something, I dunno.

Elliot not remembering what Angela asked him did open the door to there being someone else in Elliot's head I think or it could be that his psychosis took another form back then.

Really good theory over on Reddit about Elliot: https://www.reddit.com/r/MrRobot/comments/52000r/spoilers_s2e10_theory_i_dont_think_elliot_is_the/

The Elliot we've known being a construct just like Mr. Robot (or them both being two halves of a formerly whole personality) makes a lot of sense. One of the later posters mentions that in his Ep4 hallucination, Angela says to him "Do you know what your monster is? You were only born a month ago. YOU'RE NOT ELLIOT". It totally fits with him being completely clueless about everything. Mr. Robot's kinda charming and outgoing. Kid Elliot wasn't showing the social awkwardness we get from Adult Elliot.

These last couple of episodes though...

Season started out slow and plodding but has developed quite nicely. Can't wait for the finale.

This show is killing so many characters off compared to last season its become Game of Thrones lite. Can they sustain the escalating death count next year since they particularly don't have as big of a cast compared to other shows like this?

Even the way they played that ominous music leading up to the
diner shooting
reminded me of the
Light of the Seven intro from the finale o
f last season in GoT

I guess I'm literally the only one feeling super down about this show. Or at least the only that is hanging around to the end of the season. Reading this thread is like the twilight zone for me.

Another excruciatingly-paced episode with a seriously unnecessary cliffhanger.

And more must-have shots of pointing the camera at ceilings. Esmail must have a ceiling fetish or some shit. Incredibly fucking fed up with the gimmicky photography of this thing. For me it's just distracting, every single time.

I feel the exact opposite. This show's photography is very different and somewhat 'fresh' imo.

Also, seriously unnecessary cliffhanger? What?

that music the last 5 min or so was so good. I was waiting for the build up to show its self then focused on the the crosswalk counting down as was like "ah here we go"

I've been thinking this myself for a while. Only because I've always wanted to know
Why they've never said Darlene's last name

Btw fans of Phillip Price/Michael Cristofer should definitely watch the episode of Elementary "Bella", (Season 3 Episode 4).

He delivers a fucking phenomenal speech towards the end of the episode.

It's a great show in general, and some of the impact of the speech will be lost if you haven't watched all the preceding episodes, but it is probably great as a standalone thing too.

Spoilers for those that watched Elementary but need their memory jogging about which one the speech was:
"You want the world to think you're an automaton".

Hm....you know, one interesting thing about Philip Price that I notice is his...idk what you call it...intense shaking? He often talks like he struggles to get his words out, so every word has an extra push to it, and his face is often jittering. There are other times where he seems calm and not forcing his words, like his talk with Colby, but always got the feelings of some kind of difficulty in interaction.

I was wondering if that was the character, but he has something similar going on for this completely different character in Elementary.

Yeah definitely part of his acting style. I think it's very effective, but obviously needs the right characters/material to suit it.

Preview/casting spoilers:
its the 2 FBI agents Dom has had tracking Angela. You can see them in other episodes and they match the people shown escorting Angela in the preview.

Holy shit indeed - this show is so good. I would have never have noticed that. Love the little touches and richness of the scenes.

God it's going to be a long wait until next Wednesday. Excited that we get a double episode to finish the season.

We don't, the second part won't air til the week after :(

That's true. In all honesty, I just rewatched the episode and now I'm not too sure why I even posted that before.
I think the phone calls likely not being from Tyrell was why, but there's still much more that hasn't been explained.

Binge watched season 2 up to the latest and i see joanna is still a shitty character, you can get rid of her and the whole tyrell story can go on like nothing was lost.

Ah damn - just checked the season 2 wiki and you're right, the episodes are now split over two weeks. :( Did something change recently?

I could have sworn the final episodes were supposed to be a double feature on the 14th - guess the schedule changed?

Pretty sure the assassins in this episode were out to kill Cisco, exactly as Dom predicted would happen if they went public with the police sketches. That's why she was so intent on finding them so quickly. Dom wasn't a target in this instance, she was just there cause they were looking for the same person.

Also looking at a gif, just noticed that the Don't Walk signal is literally a countdown to the shooting:
ygCPwue.gif

And the diner sign gets shot out and appears to spell "Lies."

Damn, why dom pulls out his guns or give them any warning ?
She just drops to the floor giving a fuck about cisco and Darlene, Looks like she let them dies
What a bitch
