MS buys the Xbone.com domain name

I own the domain www.xbonenews.com. Hopefully they won't take that domain :)

"Uh-hum..."

"Why don't you take. Just take a seat, right over there."

X1. If I ever hear anyone say "Xbone" out loud I'll probably cringe to death.

X1?

There was already a first Xbox, it came out in 2001.

XBox One Eighty is a far more trollish name. XBone is just cute.

might as well call it what it is. The current Xbox One shares no similarities with the initial release/E3 information. They've done a 180 on absolutely everything.

I wouldn't be surprised if by the time the system actually releases, the console looks different and doesn't have a power brick. It's pretty much the only thing left to do a 180 on

Feel 100% the opposite.

I like Xbox 180, that's actually clever and makes sense regarding policy changes. Xbone is just juvenile, middle school age humor. It doesn't even make sense, what is an Xbone? It's very low brow, erection, masturbation, fart joke humor.

180 is only a troll if you think the 180's are bad. If you like the reversals then Xbox 180 is a good thing.

That says a lot more about your person than it does about any perceived fanboy.

It says something good. I also don't think the idiots who referred to PlayStation as "Gaystation" over the years were cute or clever either. I've seen idiots in comments on sites like Engadget and YouTube call PS4, PoS4. You think this person is either a juvenile or a complete loser.

Instantly tells you how much weight to put on their opinions, I honestly consider it a favor.

xbox one is just a stupid name.

i use xbone whenever i refer to the system online. basicaly when typing, its easier to just list "xbone." if i was literally talking, i'd say xbox one. i can't type "one" or say "one" when referring to it....it just doesn't seem right to me.

i mean, think about it... "titanfall looks awesome on One!" that doesn't sound right if i was speaking out loud, nor does it read nicely when reading. you'd have to say the full name or use a nickname and xbone is the easiest nickname to me.

if they would have used "Infinity" as the name, then it would have been simple. We'd be able to call it Infinity in written or spoken form without any issues.

i don't think xbone is disrespecting though. it's just how the internet works.

If someone can find one example of it being abbreviated to X1 ever I'll be shocked. The closest thing I've seen to a shorthand is maybe XBX, but it's almost always referred to as the original Xbox, first Xbox, OG Xbox, or just "Xbox" like the 360. And there's been no confusion up to this point.

I get not liking the console, company, or name, but "Xbone" is childishly immature on the level of "Ass Creed"

You have serious issues man. You want to know why I call it the Xbone?

X Box One.

It has nothing to do with a penis. What is on your mind? ;)

Seriously why does it have to do with anything phallic? I use the term because it's literally the name smashed together. Get a clue man.

Both are perfectly Logical. We're lazy and like our abbreviations and acronyms.

Xbox One

Assassin's Creed

Ex-bone is faster and and smoother than Ex-box-won or ex-bee-won

Obviously they aren't arbitrary but in both instances you could just say X1 or AC faster. And the possibility of someone thinking you meant Comcast Infinity or Animal Crossing in the context of a conversation on it seems way lower than them misinterpreting potty humor out of Ass Creed and Xbone. Both are terrible shorthands.

Sure. ;) The people who coined the name Xbone were people who didn't like the system and were looking for something derogatory. They don't call it XbOne or XBOne because that isn't as explicitly part of the hilarious bone/boned joke.

The tradition til now has been a 2-4 letter abbreviation of any console, I use whatever is easiset. I'm not going to type out a 5 letter word every time I need to refer to the thing. I use X1 or XB1 because it is the fastest for me.

Ok?

You're acting like everyone who uses the term xbone is a juvenile with potty humor. I was contradicting it since I'm sure I'm old enough to be many persons parent on here. Don't be uptight it's just a name. I use xbone because it's easier to type and say for me. I don't get the hate. I never once have used it to refer to getting "boned" either. Jus' sayin'.

But there is no chance of misinterpretation Xbone and Ass Creed are only used within the gaming community. To any other person not indoctrinated into gaming i just use the full name.

Streisand effect at work, it seems.

Microsoft might try to be proactive, but the name will stick around. Don't lose your heads; Xbone sounds silly by itself, and it's just a petty thing if you think about it.

I love the name. XBone.

If the unit just wrecked Sony in the market, they'd adopt it themselves. So the 'concern' is false, in my eyes. They should have ignored it when it was mentioned and it would have gone away.

Xbone is easily the best console nickname ever. They need to embrace that shit. I also cannot figure out how it's disrespectful, unless they are just insecure as hell (and they probably should be after the initial fallout).

Xbone was always the nickname. Anyone saying otherwise was in denial.
Its a certain kind of karmic balance for whoever thought that "The One" just might be used as slang for it.

You know there had to be some of those people, crossing their fingers and hoping. Its the Hindenburg of marketing buzzwords.

They should have run with it.

They could have had ads where people said they were getting Xboned or had an Xboner or crap like that.

I still remember seeing a developer refer to it as the xbone out loud, that name really got traction, Iol. The fact that the name also makes fanboys of the console upset is kind of sad but a little funny.

Disrespectful LOL. Don't wanna hurt the consoles's feelings now.

And coming from a rep from one of largest/richest companies in the world. Give me a fucking break.

XBox One Eighty was clearly a dig at MS reversing everything they stood by only the week before. It was clever which is why it worked, but it was obviously a name to mock MS (also has the double dig that is half 360).

XBone is just a cute shortening of the name. You're clearing reading to much into it. If it was XBoner you may have had a point since that would both reflect on all the mistake MS seemed to be making and because it's slang for erection.

But if calling it XBox180 makes you happy then I guess I'll go with the (IMO) troll name.
