Sigh. You've both missed my point. ;___;

What Mass Effect did was tasteful, at least, from what I've heard, please correct me if I'm wrong.

The Fable 2 guys wanted to make it a mini-game. How much more immaturely could you handle the subject? I'm just imagining some slob going "Look guys, I'm pressing the A button to do it faster, hur hur" as he's dribbling onto his mustard-stained convention t-shirt.

Doesn't God of War have a sex minigame? (I've never played one)

I thought ME was tasteful, but you did have to tell Ashley you liked her poems. ;) It was a mini-game. Just took awhile.

Well, we Englishmen have to talk sex in a comical fashion, as it's a scary business.

So it's OBJECTIVE when you haven't played it and you post "looks great!", but yet it's NOT OBJECTIVE when people that haven't played it post that it looks like dogshit? Riiiiiight.

Plenty of people say Too Human looks like shit in every thread concerning the title. Hell, people say Too Human looks like shit in Gears of War threads. It's par for the course.

What you just did though didn't have anything to do with screenshots at all. You insinuated that people who are looking forward to Too Human are blind Silicon Knights fanboys and further that Silicon Knights is incapable of dealing with the difficulties in the typical development process. That's far from objective.

And here you are calling other people dishonest and sneaky and waxing on about the pretense of bias.

Too Human could very well suck. Who fucking knows how it will turn out. It's definitely been mired with more than it's share of problems. But what's wrong with hoping it turns out to be a good or even excellent title? Seems kinda sad that you appear to be actively hoping it turns out to be trash.

Well God of War gets a pass because there's nothing tasteful about it.

One could make the argument "blah blah everyone had their titties out in ancient Rome" but were they greased up and looked like something you'd see at a stripclub?

I wonder if your type (those pining for pure platforming) are in the majority these days or those of us who absolutely detest 3d platforming?

It's an honest question. I can't think of a worse game design decision than to go 100% platforming, but of course the sales of several big name games recently tell me there are plenty of you out there.

Well, in fairness I'm not sure how I would have gone about updating the N64 games, which were glamorous (but fun) Mario 64 clones. I can appreciate a lot of what they're doing with this new game, some really clever stuff to be certain, but I wanted the 360 to get it's own Mario Galaxy so to speak.

After the initial shots I was hoping the user-created content and the vehicles weren't quite so prominent and that the game still had some resemblance to the N64 titles, but they seem to have gone head first into it.

So again, game looks fantastic and it's obviously doing things not yet done before, which is commendable (and it looks fun), I'm just disappointed to see the series really stray from it's roots.

Thats because it was on a different console

I do find attacks on Too Human as a GAME to be premature.

Videogames earn interest. They are not given an inherent amount of interest by the public which is then taken away with each bad point, they start with zero interest and earn more through features. Features like 4-player co-op. Which was then taken out.

Is it really that difficult to see why people are pissed? (Not that I cared anyway, I just wanted local :( )

Look, it seems every journalist, including me, wired and 1Up, really enjoyed Banjo. Shouldn't that tell you something about how this game actually plays, instead of just trying to imagine how you will like it based on screens or videos?

Well, I give up... you'll see in november.

Sure it will play great, and it will be loads of fun.

But it's just too bad it's not a full fledged platformer imo

Big disappointment with the Banjo trailer, is not Banjo.

It's unbelievable. If you're a huge fan of the genre, like I am, this is the biggest disappointment of the year, especially after SMG raised the stakes. Instead of rising to the occassion, BK3 looks to be diversionary, much like SMS and its gimmick. God. Why does Super Mario have to be the only good platformer? It didn't always used to be like this.

I was so hyped for Banjo but after seeing that video I'm just not sure what to think. I was hoping it would be straight up platforming but it appears that the focus is on driving around a bunch of vehicles you build.
The graphics look fantastic and charming though so I wouldn't want to judge the game before playing it.

As it stands at this moment though I feel kinda disappointed. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong with the final product.

Somebody PLEASE make a Banjo thread. Fire control... yawn

As has been said, actually outright stated by the developers, they are not so much vehicles for driving as contraptions for problem solving.

THE VERY ESSENCE OF PLATFORMING.

Yes, but that entire game is supposed to be an over-the-top treat for the testosterone starved. It's doubtful that whatever they did with it in God of War would have ever been looked at seriously considering the extreme violence and brooding generic rage the rest of the game seeps in.

When one can argue that Gears 2 is the best game looking game shown this generation, I have no idea where that claim comes from.

Gears really isnt the king of the graphics hill by a long shot anymore but thats just opinion my main point Is I hardly think the 360 is completely tapped maybe with the UE3 but I am pretty positive Alan Wake is going to make our collective minds explode.

I have done nothing of that sort, except imply that Silicon Knights is incapable of dealing with the difficulties in the typical development process, which looks to be pretty true! I have simply pointed out that as someone who is INTERESTED in the game, he has taken a side in the matter. For him to say that he is "barely interested in the game at all" and pretend to be an impartial person on the fence that is "disgusted at how people are hating on Too Human" is a farce.

There are other people that are interested in Too Human, there's no problem with that. People have different taste, and a lot of people are just very disgusted with the way Silicon Knights has been presenting Too Human all this time.

And here you are calling other people dishonest and sneaky and waxing on about the pretense of bias.

I've called ONE person that. :p

Nothing's wrong with you wanting to hope that it'll be good. That doesn't mean other people have to right? Are you implying everyone SHOULD hope that it's good just because you're interested in it?

Too Human news is a big disappointment. I can understand their need to reduce the player numbers for coop but so late in the game dev seems like an afterthought.
oh yes and by the way we've abandoned the whole 3D thingy as we thought it might be a little too confusing... it's now more of a platform game

I mean, if they announced the game with 4 player coop and a year+ from release they stated they had to reduce it I would understand but 3 months from release they announce the significant changes... sorry this has me scared for how the game will actually turn out now. translation: a bug-laden, design flawed mess

I hope I'm wrong because god knows we need more RPG co-op type games for next gen but I'm starting to think Too Human is not the answer.

It is a platformer... but revolving a new and innovative concept. I know, I know, it's veeeery dangerous to try something new apparently...

Do note that in order to get a video out that showcases all of the new features in Banjo 3ish Rare had to take certain liberties.

It may be prudent to wait for videos closer to the release of the game before lamenting the framerate/animation.

Yeah, I understand that since they wanted to show all of the things they had worked on, they just couldn't polish one aspect/level of the game to the max especially for demo purposes, unlike other devs sometimes do when the games they work on permit it.

There was only one close call.

Kudo Tsunoda, the new general manager for Microsoft’s “Gears of War” development efforts, got through most of his dinner with me and three other gaming reporters last night with only one “can-we-say-this?” look shot over to the public relations person staffing our meal.

It came after I asked him to define what “Gears of War” is to him, and how it differs from “Halo.” He threw out words like “co-op” and “tactical” and then he said “squad,” which prompted me to ask about the number of players that could team up in a “Gears of War 2″ mission. He looked for help.

No.

Not something he can talk about at the moment.

But there was other “Gears” stuff to discuss…

Tsunoda, recently of the EA Chicago studio behind the “Fight Night” series and last “Def Jam” fighting game, now works in Microsoft as the chief point of on contact with Cliff Bleszinski and the team making the 360-exclusive “Gears 2″ at Epic Games.

Over dinner, in which we chatted about a number of Xbox 360 games, he discouraged me from thinking about “Gears of War 2″ in story terms. I was asking him about how it moves the plot forward and if I should be thinking of it as an “Empire Strikes Back” or something. He said: “It’s not about when it is or saying that it’s a trilogy but about what we’re doing with the gameplay and how we’re making it more fun.”

Gameplay improvements: what jumps out to Tsunoda in the new game are 1) the destructible cover that won’t let players take refuge behind any old crate and 2) levels that have about 100 characters and bosses engaged in large-scale battles. He said that the first game hinted at a larger war but never brought the player to it. This game will.

His 100-characters reference reminded me of the tech demos demonstrated by Epic at the Game Developers Conference in February. Epic developers had told me that the demos hinted at content and gameplay in “Gears of War 2.” So what about the tech demo featuring a cube of meat that got chunks shot off of it, one bloody bit at a time? To answer, Tsunoda wound up pretending he was holding an enemy for cover, as a shield, and explained how that enemy might, let’s say, deteriorate under fire.

Tsunoda told me had played the first “Gears” a lot before taking his job at Microsoft Games Studios (he wouldn’t confess to playing the PC version, saying he’s a console gamer). He volunteered that the gameplay of the first installment could feel repetitive, an issue he says is addressed in the new title.

We chatted about online play a little, though Microsoft is focusing on showcasing the single-player part of the game this week. He said the “Gears” sequel will have a better online system. I asked about clans, and he wouldn’t use the word back at me, but said that parties of gamers would have an easier time sticking together from game to game.

Other “Gears” improvements promised over dinner include better voice acting and directing, the ability to tell characters apart by voice (Tsunoda thought the characters in the first game sounded too similar to each other). He also said gamers can expect a more satisfying story, one that won’t be compromised by content being clipped from the game as had happened with the first “Gears.”

The details sounded solid. I’ll report more after I, hopefully, get a chance to play it at Microsoft’s gaming event in San Francisco today.

Remember when Bungie said that they haven't comfirmed Halo 3's 4 player COOP? This was after everyone was expecting it. So everyone freaked out. But really in that case Bungie never promised of any sort of online coop.

SK has been pushing the 4 player coop for years. Even as recently as 1ups GDC podcast Denis said that 4 player coop was in. For the past 4 years it was in. Now, 3 months from release, it's out. People who have been looking forward to this game, on the same 'scale' as Mass Effect, Halo 3 or Gears 2, have reason to be upset. I am.

I'm not seeing it. Mario games have always been several levels above other platformers, which I guess is why most platformers nowadays have different concepts and design ideas to separate them.

NeXuSDK: The Banjo debut trailer reveals the game(which is uner development) has lots of framerate problem,or at least now.

Did you find any stutter of the game in your demoplay?

It was by far the number one selling point for me.

I'm not saying the game will be shit for 2p co-op, but it was certainly the main reason I was interested.

Urm.. yea.

In a diablo style loot game, 4 player co-op would have been fantastic.

Silly me for forgetting what the developers told me over lunch yesterday as well.

You didn't answer. Why is it okay for people to say positive things about what has been shown, but not negative things. Come on.

Saying that a game looks bad is much different than saying that SK has been a major clusterfu*# for the past 10 years.

I personally think the graphics of MGS4 look like poo but I'm not about to attack the competence of Kojima and his team. I think there is a distinct difference.
