MS Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player: Who's getting it?

AlanHemberger said:
Damn, no one knows of any other sites online to pre order it? I hope I can reserve it in store tomorrow

put $50 down at my local Gamestop last week :)

....it was funny because, judging from the clerk's reaction, it sounded like he didn't even know what I was talking about. He didn't realize it was coming out so soon also.....

overall, aside from Amazon, it seems like this player may have a low-profile release or something

Nov 7th, hurry the **** up!

I can delete my post, then. Just wondering why the site's a no no.

You won't get in trouble or anything, the name just gets censored so your link won't work.

They're blacklisted because they spread bullshit.

Is it really coming on the 7th? I dont recall Microsoft announcing a release date but I could be wrong. If it does come out the 7th then I might pick it up when I go to get Gears of War.

OXM says it comes out the 14th

alright so for everyone buying one what movies do you plan on buying the same day? Do you own any movies already or plan on getting some this holiday?

My gamecrazy said they had sold out, but also that they don't take pre-orders for stuff less than 10 days out. He thinks it's the 7th too, or at least that's when they expect their shipment.

Do they have anything special planned for the HD-DVD release Stinkles? I reallly hope this disc looks awesome. For the time, the F/X were quite fitting. I do wonder what they'll look like in full rez 1080p glory though.

I can't tell shit form the interwebs about the Dune release. I hope it has digitally remastered 5.1 and lovely IQ - that would be enough for me. This movie is crying out for a lucas-style remaster of the FX - everything else, costumes, sets, looks incredible.

for my son....one of his favorite movies :)

Only because he hasn't seen some dude get his neck melted with a flamethrower, then his head falls off and sprouts spider legs and uses it's crazy tongue to pull itself to safety under a table.

Only to be followed by the single most appropriate statement in the history of movie dialog.

Why are you going to prolong the inevitable? I will kill you!

Also, what's with that tagline on the box?

The tagline is just the tagline for the HD DVD brand.

Many machines on Ix. New machines. Better than those on Richesse.

MS has never really announced a date, but plenty of stores are saying the 7th.

Goodfellas for sure.

I know it's a tagline for the brand, but it doesn't quite resonate imho.

My name is a killing word.

Will Lost come out on Blu Ray or HD DVD when it makes its inevitable appearance? Or is it up in the air?

Disney=Lost
Disney=Blue Ray
Lost=Blue Ray

That could all change if Disney jumps ship, and supports both (which is currently being rumored).

I'm betting it will be some time before Lost comes out on an HD format. If they're charging 30-40 for movies, how much are they going to sell a series for?

I've been looking all over for the Canadian price point for the Xbox 360's HD DVD player, but I have failed. This is a post about failure.

Anyone know how much its going to cost in Canadian dollars?

Damn. Some very nice titles coming to HD-DVD. Perhaps I should spend the $200 and buy one of these things, hmm? Or should I spend another $300 and buy a new HDMI 1.3-enabled Toshiba HD-DVD player with with advanced audio codecs and DVD upscaling? Hmmmm ...

Or just buy a PS3 and get the Blu-Ray offerings of these titles (well, some of 'em anyway). Decisions. Decisions.

After seeing his friend Norris' head fall off, sprout legs and try to crawl away, he says sorta calmly:

You gotta be ****ing kidding.

Well Smallville: The Complete Fifth Season is going for around 50 dollars online for pre-orders and that's HDDvD.

Disney's largest shareholder = Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs = Apple Computers
Apple has fully embraced Blu-Ray.

However, Seeing as how HD-DVD is outselling Blu Ray, that might change. It's mostly about content now, and HD DVD just has better selling titles and more selection so far.

Does anyone know if this player is region locked? I was interested in getting one but the lineup of HD-DVDs for the UK is pretty slim (Serenity, Goodfella's and Full Metal Jacket are the only ones worth owning imho)

According the wikipedia and amazon its a Hd-dvd exclusive.
Shit, if there's one movie in HD I'd buy it'd be LOTR, that's my favorite movie and book ever. I was hoping to buy that for PS3 'cause I don't want to (and won't) shell even more money on an HD-DVD drive. Guess I'll have to wait cause I don't care for other movies in HD.

Anyone know why LOTR is HD-DVD exclusive? I thought New Line/Warners Bros. wasn't HD-DVD exclusive.

Equilibrium is a must rent if you haven't seen it. Weird, awkward, cult favorite, but helplessly cool.
