Equilibrium is the worst film ever made!
Seriously!
Ok, not seriously, but it is horrible!

I have been hearing that you need the 360 vga cable to get true HD signal out of the player...
So here are my 2 questions..
1. My Sony 32" LCD tv has an RGB connection on the back of it. Can I use the 360 VGA cable?
2. My Sony 32" LCD does not support 1080p, only up to 1080i. Is it worth it to even look into getting that VGA cable? Or just stick with my component cables?
Stinkles said:It is rumored to be an HD DVD exclusive. But thanks for the info about how everyone will release all their movies on Blu Ray anyway. That seems like it deserves its own thread. Go make one!

Not a bad deal considering their prices are already lower than Best Buy and others.

There you go. Just make sure the movie you are buying is eligible.
C4Lukins said:How can you tell if they are eligible? From reading the site, it sounds like it applies to all HD-DVD's and Blu- Ray movies.
thanks... looks like everything is elligable that i've looked at so far.DenogginizerOS said:http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000I2JKFG/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Amazon's prices for HD-DVDs and Blu-Rays are awesome to begin with. 10% off for a year is a winning situation.Alcibiades said:Right now another great place to stock on on HD DVD's is buy.com
They have a $10 OFF coupon using google checkout.
MI:3 is about $20 using this, and some of the Combo HD DVD/DVD titles will come out to about $25 or less.
They just raised their prices too, they were even better a few days ago. I got Tokyo Drift, The Breakup and Good Night, and Good Luck for about $22 each on COMBO units.
You might want to try buying $21 regular (not Combo) titles and adding something that costs about $9 or so (I got myself quite a few graphic novels doing this) so that the total ends up at just over $30, then use the google checkout for the ten bucks off.
If you are a Firefly or sci-fi fan, YOU MUST GET SERENITY!

arne said:You know I was thinking about this earlier and I will not care about re-buying movies slowly in either next-gen format depending on what I like (since I will have the option of both at least) and all that. I'll definitely be picking up a few hd-dvds when this accessory comes out even though my set is 720p, the Dune pic stinkles posted sold me. haha.
However, I will commit ritual seppuku when Criterion decides to support either/both formats and re-releases their library. I am most heavily emotionally invested in that part of my collection. Funny thing is, Criterion was always right there supporting new optical formats, but they haven't done so yet here, that I know of.
I just ordered:
Corpse Bride
Kingdom of Heaven : Directors Cut
Black Hawk Down
For BluRay.
However, I will commit ritual seppuku when Criterion decides to support either/both formats and re-releases their library.

We congratulate you.......
And it has what to do with this thread??
www.highdefdigest.com has fairly detailed reviews of both HD-DVDs and Blu-Ray releases. they're pretty up to date too.Onix said:Ummm ... the last several posts have been discussing the HD-DVD/BluRay offer from Amazon.
Just saying thanks for pointing it out.
Onix said:I actually was googling around for some sites and stopped at that one. Definitely seemed to be the most up-to-date of what I saw.
Thanks for the confirmation!

If someone gets the reference I'll be right stoked.
All 6 of Xbox 360's hardware threads are hard at work while playing back an HD DVD. At the moment, the player software pushes Xbox 360 harder than any other (save, perhaps, Gears of War during some particularly busy parts of the game).

This bit scares me:
Doesn't bode well for quiet operation considering my 360 sounds like an asthmatic elephant when playing games
Onix said:Anyone know any good sites that review DVDs, HD-DVD's, and Blu-Ray disks.
Not just the movie review ... but detailed info on the quality of the transfer ... codecs ... audio ... etc??
Thanks in Advance!!!
Stinkles said:Amazing how few HD DVD and Blu Ray discs have any specific extras. i suppose it'll get better.
I never watch that stuff anyway, I'm just in it for the resolution.

If you buy a VGA to DVI adapter and then get a DVI to HDMI adapter would that work? late last night I was wondering about this and visited a few sites and saw all kinds of adapters and it looked like it would work. then again my eyes were barely open.
