Multiple reports of joycon connectivity issues in Switch previews

Except in that gamexplain video, there was obviously reduced signal strength on the right Joy-Con with the analog stick but it wasn't at the same level as the left one.

The right one had much better signal strength.
Really? I'll rewatch the video. Maybe they're daisy chaining the left joycon off the right one's connection? That's strange if only one of the joycons have issues.

I think it's too early to warrant such a fierce reaction to this news. I wish some of this uber scrutiny would apply to other vendors; I personally think the 3 hour battery life I get on my PS4 controllers is downright scandalous compared to intermittent connection issues that in all likelihood can be patched.

Don't try to deflect this issue. Two wrongs don't make a right. Stating flaws of other consoles will not fix this issue here. This is not how it works. You want this fixed then you let them know this is unacceptable. Period.

There's absolutely know way they're finding out just now, because they made 1-2 Switch. In their own designing and testing they have definitely had people standing between the Switch and the joycon before. It's completely absurd to think this wouldn't have been tested.

I mean this is a statistic about the console like any other, something they measure in different situations and use cases. It's like if we discovered that the controllers have a 10 minute battery life and saying that they must've designed them plugged in the whole time and never tested the life, and are just finding about it now.

What I'm saying is, they know this is an issue and they also have a fix, because there is no way they could've made and sold 1-2 Switch and ARMS without a fix already planned.

Those event Switch units, could they differ from retail units? Maybe the ball got dropped during the mass production phase.

We still haven't established if this can happen/has happened to every review console right? It still seems to be a rather small group of journalists reporting this.

If we can get more people to try and replicate this issue that should shed some light on what's happening.

What are the chances Nintendo doesn't even acknowledge the issue? Geez, who runs their PR department? Crisis management 101: be quick and be transparent. Even a simple tweet saying, "We are aware of the issue and are looking into it" would suffice.

Lol. Like every single piece of information about the switch since reveal: leak info about a potential fix being in development is more likely.

Yes. When I saw him calibrating the Joy-Cons analog sticks, the right stick wasn't stuttering as bad as the left one.

Day 1 PS4 adopter and I haven't been screwed over yet.

Day 1 PS4 adopter and I've been screwed by that stupid random constant beep and throwing up my discs.

What is wrong is wrong and should be addressed and not covered. This doesn't benefit anyone.

I don't mean to deflect, I mean to assuage people that are freaking out. This is clearly a problem that needs to be fixed, but it's not like Nintendo is new at this -- they've been making wireless controllers longer than pretty much anybody.

Also: Yeah I still have a bee in my bonnet over terrible PS4 controller battery life.

Reliability is far more important. Would you rather play 3 hours with a good controls, or 6 hours with desync issues every two minutes?

Exactly and I never thought they'd let this happen. The newer Wii controllers were better and then the Wii U's streaming to the pad was awesome. I don't even know how they let this slide.

So is this hitting everyone or just some people and we are just hearing about them. There has to be hundreds of units out there right now.

Possible bad batch?

I'm putting metaphorical money on it being a mass production issue, something screwed up at the manufacturer and not something they screwed up themselves.

It's not over reacting. It's a legit issue. It's not like people are getting the Switch for free.

I don't know who that person is, but I hope it's true and done before launch. You don't want bad first impressions.

It is overreacting if this issue will be solved and therefore not affect anyone. That's part of the purpose of having a number of review consoles sent out.

I'd still wait for confirmation that this guy is legit though.

No offence to that guy but Stealth has been known in the past to make stuff up to deflect criticism of Nintendo.

Not to mention hearing it from someone who heard it from someone at Nintendo is a lot different than simply getting an official statement from Nintendo, which they don't seem to want to provide.

So he has an uncle at Nintendo? Its up to Nintendo to say do not worry this will be fixed before release not somebody on twitter with no track record.

Anyone with any sense at all will take absolutely no notice of supposed unreliable "insiders" about this, and will wait for Nintendo themselves to get out in front of the issue.

You guys could just...read? A few tweets below that he says this is the same contact that told him Zelda was at launch, contrary to reports from people like Emily Rogers.

Well..... what is it?

He's knows someone who has a contact so he gets third hand information. This has lead to him making shit up like when he knew who the next smash rep was and that they'd be revealed soon... because he heard shovel knight was getting an amiibo and filled in the rest with his speculation. When people called him out on it after the fact he blocked them. Thats the kind of person stealth is.

I have a feeling this is gonna be a non issue come next week. I've watched hours of footage of people playing all kinda games in different ways and distances with no problems. If this was as bad as people are acting we would have noticed long before.

If I was Nintendo and I knew this was an issue before they sent out press units, then I would have said something about it and when it would be fixed. I doubt we will hear from Nintendo on this anytime soon.

Let me say one last thing about stealth_ so discussion can move on from him. Even gamefaqs who'll believe almost any leak or insider source almost instantly doesn't believe most of Stealth's crap and has kept a tally of his exaggerated truths. He may get some things right either by chance or by not stretching his knowledge but he's historically not been reliable enough to take seriously. I could tell you Nintendo will likely have a patch for this before launch and I don't know anyone at Nintendo, but I guess if I had a few thousand followers on twitter I'd be a reliable source >_>

I still have time to cancel my preorder and just get Zelda on WiiU if we don't hear anything about this issue.

I wouldn't mind if I lived in the US, I'm importing the system and won't go through all the process of sending it back.

I don't have a pre-order, basically I'm going to wait for it on launch day with a friend.

If Nintendo doesn't clarify on this before launch, I'll just wait because this problem is unacceptable.
