X says it’s abandoning operations in Brazil.
The company says the change is “effective immediately,” in response to what X called a “secret order” by Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes to arrest its legal representative if the site doesn’t comply with “censorship orders.”

Justice de Moraes opened an investigation of the platform in April after X reactivated accounts Brazil had ordered it to block. Later, the site said it would comply after all.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
Good. X/Twitter is trash anyways

Musk is fighting the good fight here. Free speech is actually in danger in Brazil. Both X and Rumble are now unavailable in Brazil.

For the average working-class Brazilian, which is most of Brazil, this matters none.
We over here have or SHOULD have more essential things to worry about.

Then Twitter.
...Sorry, X.

Now look at this woman's leg work, excellent dancer:

Come to Brazil during Carnaval, guys. It's fun.
Just be careful with your phones out there.

It's what all the bots are saying there. It must be true.
I never hear anything about threads, but weren't their numbers inflated since it got tied to facebook accounts? So that wouldn't surprise me. But also facebook is a lot more popular outside of the US

Most? It's estimated that between 84% and 86% of the Brazilian population has internet access this year. That's 188 million people.

People having acess to the internet doesn't mean they can afford. I live next to a community with get free internet from the govern. Nothing against btw. People should have the right for internet, but again.

It's part of Instagram, but you still have to activate a Threads account with your IG account.

Despite what the Musk cult and their bots on X try to lie about, X is dying fast.

I don't know who this is, and you saying "Musk cult" in every post isn't very objective. A better metric is how much twitter was worth vs now

I think people would be better advised studying how the world has changed since Musk bought Twitter, than what he's done to the company.

I'm getting a lot of clients and ex-clients talking about Threads these days in a way they have never done before. They've noticed it. There's a near universal drive to move away from Xitter, especially after the riot incitement here in the UK recently.

You can tell how some of you have no idea how good you have it. Our free speech is seriously under attack from our supreme court and, even with all its problems, Twitter is the only platform trying to stand against it.

Losing acess to Twitter will suck balls to me since i use it to keep up with the news, it will be even worse to content creators.

Oh for sure. We see so many governments now are trying to ban speech. And the funny part is that the same folks who support that usually don't want to be on receptive side of the process.

You don't need access to the news because the government will tell you what the truth is /s(not /s)

Because organic engagement still exists there. The only way for posts to be visible on X is to pay and even then there's no engagement on them at all.

That's not to mention the complete spam of porn and crypto bots on every X post now.

Better ban YT then because it was youtube misinformation reaching far more people than X on that particular issue. Also the riots were coordinated on Instagram and Tiktok.

Blaming it all on X/Twitter is frankly laughable.

Threads doesn’t even have trends. It’s completely barren of features.

And yes.. it’s a total ghost town.

The ball was tee’d up for Meta… and they whiffed.

At least you can search words now. It didn’t even have that feature for the longest time.

Yes it does. There's not a tab for them like on X, but there are trends. The whole Christopher Nolan Whole Foods thing was the top trend last weekend into the week.

They're eating up Musk's userbase in the US and like Funk Miller said above, companies are fleeing X for it now.

Ignoring Musk trying to incite a civil war is frankly laughable.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I got happy for a second seeing this topic on the home page

If there is no tab.. then how is there trends? It just takes over the “for you” section?

When I look at threads I just get a feed of garbage. Which I do I twitter too… but at least the trends page lets me see what’s happening in the world.

Didn't happen.

I assume you're referring to Musk's tweet about a "civil war in the UK being inevitable".

Been covered in detail, speculation is not incitement. And quite honestly, I'm not sure how far off-base he actually is given how the country's going since Labour took power.

Lol, people letting their hateboner for Musk cloud their judgement. Brazil ain't the good guy here. The only reason you've been brainwashed into now hating Twitter is because it's no longer a tin soldier for the statist aspect of the US government.

People seem determined to set the stage for authoritarianism.

Civil conflicts will escalate across the world. That's inevitable. The existing problems cannot be resolved peacefully anymore - too many different groups want absolute power.

By and large people do not oppose authoritarianism - they just want "their" people in power.

Hang on... Brazil government wanted to censor X so you can only read the GOOD shit or what Brazil Government deem to be GOOD shit and yet somehow fuck Elon and fuck X?

And somehow that is right? That you only want to hear one narrative? And everyone else is a cunt?

Or nah?

EviLore EviLore - sorry mate this looks like politics I'm not trying to politicise.

Sadly true. Noone seems to talk about reconciliation, mutual understanding and compromise, just that the opposing view is an existential threat that must be eliminated.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Twitter will be usurped by somebody else (probably Threads) within the year. Musk can't keep the emperor's new clothes act up for much longer.
Threads died the month it launched, X is on a decline but despite the hoopla most companies still use it as the default.
Everyone saying otherwise are the same people claiming Disney's last 6 years as been great 😁

Didn't Melon Husk comply with Turkey's request in censoring the opposition group?

Honestly if you don’t worry that the 8-9th largest economy in the world is going deep into digital authoritarianism….

I'm pretty sure Twitter died about a year ago. Do people still use it?

Less than a month ago, the current president of the united states announced to the world that he would not be running for reelection, and he announced it first on twitter. I'd say it's doing just fine in terms of relevance.

Also, despite the many dumbass things the man has done with the platform since he bought it, using this topic to dunk on Musk rather than the authoritarian absurdity that he's opposing is ridiculous.
