We can only hope, it was a bummer on PS2 when you could only play people within 200 miles of you without lag -_-
Brent Nielsen: There are a number of things, and actually we were able to add some new technology to our throw and catch system this year that enables you to make throws and catches on the run. In the past, you would always have to wait, for example, a play at first and the first baseman catches the ball on the inside of the bag. You would either have to manually run your guy over or wait until the pitcher got to the base. Then when you would throw it to him, he would have to stop, catch it, then you would manually run him to the base. This year, you have the ability to catch and throw on the run, and it has really helped open up the fluidity of the fielding. The other big thing is on double plays. Now you don't have to wait for your shortstop to get to the bag before you throw him the ball. You can throw it to him as he's running toward the base, then he'll slide the foot across the bag and throw the ball to first. That is probably the biggest improvement that we've made to the gameplay and the animation system this year. It makes fielding a lot more responsive and a lot smoother. It makes a huge difference in the feel.
IGN Sports: Can lefties actually hit home runs this year?
Brent Nielsen: I know not what you speak of. [laughs] Let me just say that we've thoroughly tested lefties hitting home runs and player progression in dynasty, and I'm happy to say that both are working just fine. I'm even seeing lefties going opposite field if you get the timing down on the swing, so there aren't any problems to report.
IGN Sports: When you fixed the lefties, did you break the righties?
Brent Nielsen: [laughs] I can confirm, right-handed hitters can hit home runs as well.
Brent Nielsen: I don't want to get too much into it right now, but we've added something called The Hitter's Eye. Basically, this is what a hitter is looking at when he's in the box, trying to pick up what type of pitch is coming in based on the spin of the ball. I don't want to go into any more detail, but I will say that it's a feature that as we've been implementing it and tuning it, it's something I think is going to change the way people hit in baseball video games. I will make that bold of a statement. It has really opened the game up.
Brent Nielsen: PS2, PC, and Xbox Live, with similar feature sets to the fall sports titles that came out. We've had some big breakthroughs this year, and the online game right now is playing about the same as the offline game, and that's our ultimate goal. We don't want those two experiences to be different
