Not really surprising. MX Unleashed was amazing also. Very under appreciated game.
Sony really needs to get Rainbow back on their ATV series and hand Climax their walking papers.

Yeah, they are and that's a great score! Score one for the good guys! THQ's a better fit for Rainbow, IMHO.

edit: and I kinda agree with EGM that the game is kinda generic, I mean I think games like this (tony hawk) etc when they begin to reach a plateu they need something a little more in them (tony hawk started experamenting with this in THUG series, and ssx has always been "wacky"), but I think to keep a extreme sport series going the game needs a bit of charaterization, do they want Jackass on atvs? Maybe not, but a little color couldnt hurt either

Damn, ordinarily this would not be my kind of game but the possibilities for online play seem really, really cool. @#!$%! don't want to buy an "extra" game these next couple of weeks.

I dunno, I was playing ATV Off Road Fury 3 at a friend's house and lamenting the loss of Road Rash.
Get rid of the dookie "trick" systems in these games that are a half assed attempt at aping Tony Hawk and just allow me to bludgeon other drivers. That would be a good way to seperate these games from the rest of the pack.
Just because EA can no longer make a good Road Rash past 3DO RR, doesn't mean somebody else can't step up to the plate.

This really is by far the best Off-Road ATV style racer I've ever played and normally I really don't care for them.
They've got ATV, MX, Monster Trucks, Golf Carts, Biplanes, Baja Trucks, helicopters, and other vehicles in your garage. You can mix and match the vehicles in races and the excellent controls Rainbow games have is still here. Pretty good AI, ton of racing modes, online for both XBox and PS2, progressive scan (on PS2, not sure how XBox's is).
Expect lots of great scores and hats off to Rainbow.

Infact, MX Unleashed has been my most played Xbox game the past month or so since i got a HDTV. But then again, Motocross Madness 2 was my favorite game for a good 4 years or so.... and it has everything that ruled about MCM2 only with better physics Cant wait for MX vs ATV to hit Australia, LIVE play was all MX Unleashed was missing IMO.

It's only out on PS2. Which doesn't support voice chat. (their review doesn't mention that for concerned parties).
