This ain't no JBaird, but it's nice to see a thread like this take a 180 in only 4 pages.
I feel like re-reading jbaird thread now, it's like a classic novel. Best thread ever.

Needs more cowbell, y'all.

Jesus, look at all the hate the OP is getting... Gaf is a fucking cruel place if someone dishes some dirt on your past. OP is ashamed of who he was back then. No one will listen to him now for sure. What a pity.

Even as I kid I wouldn't let stranger get in. Usually they would be like " are you parents home " ? No, I can't let you in Mister "

If your girlfirend can't understand basic safety behavior, well, she needs education.
Im not sure if my sarcasm meter is broken. But anyway the reason that you couldn't open the door was that your PARENTS weren't home. She is a grown up(i suppose) and has to be able to make decisions like this on her own. OP Im sure you only meant well and wanted to protect her, but making rules about who she can or can't let in to the home of both of you doesn't feel right.

But the gf wasting some money pales in comparison to the safety issue of course.
The OP has been exposed as a joke, but I can't let this one slide.

Let's consider reality, and not common sense (which has the tendency of not being based on reality).

  • A stranger is infinitely more likely to not harm you than to harm you
  • Victims of violence are disproportionately men
  • The average man's bigger size and strength is negligible against an armed sociopath

What is the safety issue here that pertains to women and not men? (if you're just arguing for a safety issue in general for everyone, then ignore this post).

?

that topic is over a year old

From this topic:

"So i just got back from the store to find my door wide open and a strange young man in my home. My gf was just about to write a check for some magazines before i stopped her and politely asked the young man to leave."

From that other topic:

"not too long ago i was at her house and he shows up. he kinda like who the fuck is this and she makes up some bs and i leave."

So...she made up that you were a door to door salesman selling magazines and she felt sorry for you, and then the BF flipped out on her about letting strangers in the house. Then he made a thread on GAF about it.

This thread is like a satisfying short story while JBaird is like a kick ass 1000 page adventure novel.

It's what stupid adults do.

Letting a stranger you don't know into your house allows you to be victimized, be it right then and there or later on as you've just allowed someone free access to scope your entry points, your home layout, assess the value of your assets, and your security.
Is that an american thing? I mean maybe I just live in a really safe neighborhood but it's really weird to me to consider every second guy as a possible burglar/rapist.

It's a lesson for people to stop posting such personal shit in forums.

You've never been here man, burglars and rapists roam the streets foaming at the mouth and carrying magazine subscriptions.

If that's true then I'd agree, shit's rough. But people are having fun since there's no real way of knowing whether OP is telling the truth or is a top-tier professional troll.

I don't think anyone harbors any real ill will towards OP, it's just kicking up dust to entertain a boring thursday night.

Well, if you get caught with your pantaloons down, you can expect a good and thorough mocking.

Seriously. It's pretty easy to concoct a bunch of lies on the Internet to get attention. But that doesn't mean you should do it.

Now who is the naive one? There are enough knights on Gaf to hurt someone.

Now now. Don't make this thread look embarrassing with more detectiveness. One backfire was more than enough...

Just wait till I catch you slipping years from now, saying some shit like how you want The Beatles albums in 5.1

Your ass will be mine.

1. Yes it is dangerous to let a stranger into your home.
2. You should have phrased it better when you talked to her.
3. He wasn't a salesman.
