I introduced my girlfriend to Star Wars this year about 3 months ago, we watched the series in chronological order, after we found the Phantom Menace on TV and I.....kinda begged her to watch it with me lol.

After TPM she was hooked and wanted to watch the whole saga with me, so I got my Blu-Rays and we watched a movie every friday. You can check the Star Wars OT for her impressions.

In the end her favorites where 3>4>5>2>6>1.

And now she caught me watching The Clone Wars on Netflix, I was rewatching the Maul Revival Arc and the Umbara Arcs as I wanted some SW that afternoon. She was shocked to see Obi-Wan fighting Maul and started bombarding me with questions....

In the end, she demanded I started the series from start with her....So we watched the movie together....and she loved it, mostly because of Ahsoka. She was pissed at "the writers" for giving Anakin a Padawan despite him being a padawan, So I explained the settings and showed him Clone Wars 2013 up to the point were it doesnt contradict TCW (Anakin's Knighting)

She was a bit intimidated by all the content she feels she missed, but is eager to watch all of it.

What episodes are best to skip? I don't want her to miss on the bulk of the story.

Is there any chronological shortlist of episodes? The release order timeline is pretty effed up.

Also, Padme is her favorite character, so Padme episodes are a must.

My girlfriend and I have been doing the complete saga including Clone Wars and Rebels, and as of now I am also reading the books to tell her the side-stories.

Good on you OP, I am intrigued your gf loved 3. In my opinion it is one of the best of the series, and definitely in my top 3.

I say skip nothing, but then again my gf and I are Star Wars turbonerds.

Shoulda started with the 2D show. Non canon, but explains a lot e.g. Anakin's knighting, intro for Asajj and Grievous.

I say just watch it in release order. The timeline can be kinda weird, but if the kids the show was made for can handle it, then your girlfriend can probably handle it.

As for episodes to skip, pretty much any Jar-Jar arc and the shitty droids arc in season 5 can be safely skipped.
