My Hero Academia (Shonen Jump) move over pirates, ninjas, reapers, its Hero time

This one makes more sense than most. They're training to be heroes and they need to be able to fight, so physical fitness is pretty much a necessity, with Deku in particular lifting weights as part of his training.

It's really the fact that Horikoshi doesn't use it as a carte blanche to depict perfectly ideal bodies that makes it more notable than anything.

Anyway the only time I really remember there being any "flaws" (I wish I had that much tummy fat) was in that beach spread. They didn't really show that in the cheerleading part in the manga, did they?
We're talking about stuff like this:

Yknow i just realised there are only 13volimes published so far look how much has happened jesus.

It's going SO FAST. A lot of that is conservation of detail on the fights. I'm doing a reread, but I don't think that there's a single confrontation so far that lasts longer than like... 5-6 chapters? By now a lot of shonens are pushing into double digits.

It also doesn't laze about in a scene for too long which I really like. Naruto had that problem really bad.
It also does training right.

If I remember right, the longest fights in the series have been 4 chapters? The fight with Stain, Bakugou and Deku's second fight, and All Might vs. All for One were all only that long.

Most of them are 3 chapters.

I thought Deku v. Bakugou round 2 was 5,but I haven't gotten there yet,so my memory is a smidge fuzzy. And of course their's background fights that technically go on longer, but yeah.

Really impressive brevity regardless.

I thought so too, but the fight itself starts in the middle of 117 and ends in 120. So 4 chapters.

What? Today's chapter was so short.

Im glad we finally see the Police doing something, but he could have not made them anymore useless :( Their shields and masks wont do anything. Also so happy that the two dudes who took a full head on hit didnt die or anything, good going Eraserhead and Midoriya.

Ok this was pretty damn cool. We finnaly get to see how the police act(more action-side) in the hero world. Black-guy is so gonna get his ass kicked and LADY-DRAGON! And yea agree with DTL here Eraserhead and Deku made a hell of a nice save!

BTW these guys they are the best

Buffed-up Deku

And cute Tsuyu and Suneater

Also lookin back a few pages wosh...it's kind of funny.

Word up to Bubble Girl, against all expectations (including probably the guy who designed her), for being a melee fighter.

still hilarious how hard Horikoshi's trying to avoid that underboob, lol

Mirio's suit continues to impress me with how clever the series is with it's how well thought out the quirks are.
And we know where Mirio's ponytail went, too! It's really cool.

Meanwhile, if I was a criminal and Centipede came after me, I'd turn myself in immediately. Giant Centipede legs crawling all over me? Nope. Nope.

Edit: God, I just realized how sucky life must be for people with creepy ass quirks. We've touched a bit on this with the guy who could compel people with his voice, but imagine trying to get a date as Centipede Dude. I mean, it seems that this society is progressive as hell and all, but I imagine even here people would get be creeped the fuck out.

That's what the original fan art said, but we don't know if Horikoshi kept that in.

She was also transparent like a bubble and a UA student, but Horikoshi made her blue-skinned and presumably a graduate instead. So he might've changed how her quirk works too.

It's funny, but I actually do appreciate it lol
Oh, of course, it's really stupid. It's a shame, since her design is pretty nice otherwise. Glad Horikoshi's the kind of person to realize that.

it's just funny to imagine him sitting in front of his desk and thinking "shit, how do I deal with this"

Yeah. At least they do seem to realize it, given that "most looks like a villain" ranking.

Sort of relevant, Horikoshi's mentioned that Shouji wears that mask on his face because, like Ectoplasm, he doesn't have any cheeks and his teeth are permanently visible, and he scared some of his classmates in grade school. So it is a thing.

Juzo probably doesn't care about what people think, but Shouji does because he's a super nice guy. Also a boddhisattva.

edit: What, Veelk, I was shoe-r that pun would knock you off your feet!

guess he has to compensate for his terrifying face though there are hentai (i'm guessing) of titans, probabaly with levi or mikasa or both

Everyone's got a fetish, I guess.

Edit: I just realized. Can you imagine the sex and pornography industry of this universe?

lewd stuff is obvious, but there's the other stuff too

like both of tsuyu's parents have frog quirks, so did one of their friends introduce them to each other because of their quirks? are there quirk-based dating sites? quirk compatibility rating apps?

even if Endeavor-style quirk marraiges aren't around anymore (in public, at least), it'd make sense for people to still pair up informally based on quirks

...though, always thought Bakugou's parents got together in school, like the aftermath of an anime romcom.

Especially for the weird looking people their dating pool is probably limited

How i imagine them

Both of Tsuyu's parents are frog people, so I'd imagine that sometimes it's as simple as like attracts like. Probably got some well structured online dating services for that kinda thing.

yeah, makes sense

unless they're nuts like endeavor, people in the current day probably don't pair up based on kids, but they definitely would pair up based on preferences.

You know, I wondered before if he was going out of his way to hide it, but now I'm positive he's going out of his way to not draw it. I don't think Horikoshi is totally above some fanservice, but at least he realizes that there's some times where it's not appropriate. This being one of those times.
