if twilights the only one holding up equestria, why is it tipping towards her?

Because it's full of water. She accidentally tipped it away from herself, and then she corrected, but the water sloshing around pushed her correction past it's intended stopping point.

What is Neptune's Pride?

No, not that level in Bioshock. It's 4X distilled to its most basic. Like Civilization or Master of Orion, you'll find yourself establishing new colonies, acquiring territory, researching new technology, and making war on your neighbors. Unlike those behemoths, the game is as simple as could be, distilled into the essence of long-term vs. short-term benefit and military vs. economy. You've only got one kind of unit, your basic ship, upgraded by tech levels. Only 4 technologies to reserach, self explanatory of themselves- speed, range, weapons, scanners. And only 3 ways to build infrastructure on your worlds- economy, which increases your money to plow into other infrastructure, technology, which increases rate of research, and industry, which increases the amount of ships you build each period.

So far, very simple. The catch? The timeframe. The game is persistent, taking place over days and weeks instead of hours. Your factories will produce new ships once a day, technologies are researched in days instead of turns, and it can take 12 hours or more for your ships to reach a star system. In the meantime, you can conduct diplomacy with your other players, making research pacts, peace treaties, or anti-player alliances.

The end result is a game you check in on a few times a day, but which you're thinking about constantly. Where plots are hatched in IRC chat rooms and e-mail clients, and you contemplate your next back-stabbing move while taking a shower and brushing your teeth. It kinda reminds me of a geekier fantasy football.

I wanna experience it with people I like, and PonyGAF is awesome. So let's get a game together! Who wants to give it a try? A game should last a month to two months, and we'll need six players. Myke and I are already signed up (thanks for the banner, by the way!), and the map I'm aiming for requires 6 players. It's a smaller map with clustered starting positions, so the game should be over quicker than the standard one, and it'll cut down on micromanagement as well.

If you're curious but unsure of the game, check out this diary of one game that Rock Paper Shotgun published (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/01/02/neptunes-pride-the-complete-epic/). You can also read the introduction (http://np.ironhelmet.com/rules) and tutorial (http://np.ironhelmet.com/tutorial) on their main website

If you find that the game isn't for you, you can bow out and let an AI take over, but that's far from an optimal solution. If you sign up, please make sure you an at least make a good faith effort to stick with the game!

Anyone interested in signing up can post in this thread or PM me.

Alright, I'm game for this.

Loved that epic pie (and cupcake) vid...and finally got to watch the episode too...Yay!

On a related note though, my 9 year old sister discovered some of the many pony vids on youtube....not all bad mind you (as she has seen FAR worse Spongebob nonsense, as well as the Adventure Time 'shipping' vids). However...I hate that she looped 'Apple.mov' and 'Bon Bon' over, and over again while I visited today ....ugh!

I didn't put those in my bag! Stuck in my head all day.....

Wow, it even has Zap Apples. That was quick.

I kind of like this. It's stupidly over the top, but in a good way. Is it a parody of something?

Pretty much, it's based on Epic Meal Time, but it's soooo much better :D

(Also check out Epic Cupcake Time if you haven't.)

I've seen Epic Cupcake Time. It's fairly impressive animation, and Pinkie is just nuts. Then again, if Pinkie did snap (the other way from Party of One), I could see her get this hyper. Which is scary.

Reposting for a new page. One slot left, two I suppose if someone wants in more than DeadPhoenix.

kinda shocked there hasnt been any young granny smith porn yet.

must be because jj/slugbox are traveling.

Kevinsano drew some yesterday, before I even saw the episode. I thought it was a strange character to do - I didn't know what the episode was about :lol

hes the one who draws hooves, right?

We've got 7 people signed up now. The roster as it exists right now is this:

Myke
Myself
DeadPhoenix
LuffyZoro
Orcastar
Ahoyahoy
Dark Phoenix

The map I had in mind is restricted to 6 players, but not to worry: we can do a custom map for 7 players. The main question is when we should start the game so that both the euros and the Americans have a chance of getting their initial moves in. The weekend's probably the best time to do so, afternoon for the Americans and evening for the Euros. I suggest this time:

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20120108T14&p1=24

At that time I'll PM all the participants the game location and password, and we can all sign up and get started! This will also give some time for some new people to sign up if they want to, though the game will start at this time.

I vote for the one that's alive.

The other one just sort of gave up on life and didn't want to come back. And that takes a lot of effort, considering he's a phoenix.
