I can also see Y2Kev wanting Gaming side to be just that, gaming, with content that won't immediately derail a thread, there are plenty of gif responses, avatar quoting etc, but when it becomes a bit flashy it starts to take away from discussion.
TBH, I don't think I've ever seen Y2Kev over in OT. I think he mostly stays over in gaming. I can definitely sympathize with what he's dealing with over there.

No clue about Y2Kev, but I think this would be my thought process:
"Ok, PSN is still down, NPD's just came out, E3 is around the corner and leaks are starting. Fuck me a lot of threads are popping up. Gotta keep on top of them so the little mongrels don't go haywire. Oh hey another PSN thread, should probably keep a close eye on this so the XBox fanboys don't... Oh shit someone posted a pony gif and a junior just asked what it's about and there are already 15 responses. Here we go..."

Yes it does.

GomezGAF and SNSD-GAF are still at a de-facto state of war. Only one can survive.

Might be due to E3 around the bend. Wonder if pony-gaf wrangled in other bronies considering our size and stance.
Any who, welcome and enjoy.

And about the PSN thread, it's just a bunch of hot water. Just like how My little Ponies Friendship is Magic might just have been a right idea at the right time, the placement of the .gif was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Yeah, but at the same time, pinkie going crazy is really such an awesome image macro and I feel it truly expressed Dr. Forester's stress that the network is still down.

Plasmid: I feel you a bit, but you should know that there really is a double standard going on here, just imagine a world where everyone posts Pony reactionary images and someone starts getting dogged on for posting a Futurama image macro.

Oh and Calpain, welcome.

I am a grown-ass man watching My Little Pony, but the great thing about being a grown-ass man is no longer having to care about what people think of me. Whether or not someone on a message board approves of the shows I watch is so trivial to my life as to not even register.

Is this like HanaIro-age versus AnoHana-age? A stupid pointless debate about which thing is better than the other thing?

I dunno dude, if you're willing to spend real-life money to get a bunch of people banned on the internet, I think it's fair to say you hate them.

We gotta rev this bitch up like Mahatma Ghandi. Love and tolerance for all.

Moderation really isn't that dramatic, at least it wasn't in this case. I'm sure his message was posted more out of spite of ponies rather than trying to keep the peace.

"Hate" is a strong word. I suggest that PonyGAF gets rid of this "they are persecuting us" mentality, whether it is true or not. It does not do our cause any favours.
It's the internet. Not sure what you expect, hate on the internet is just as valid as love on the internet. Do I know if they're being serious? Nope. Doesn't change the fact that they're still expressing opinions that may or may not be favourable. And then we have people like Plasmid coming in here thinking we're the cause of GIF avatars being lost, how we flooded threads with pony macros, when in reality, it was probably Pandaman posting that one picture, and some avatars, and some random pony macros that started this ball rolling.

why are we talking about this though?

Yeah, the .gif in question fitted the statement just fine. Forester, as stated, had no problem with it before. No one would have thought that other members would question the .gif and others try to use that to derail the thread. Again, just some bad timing. You can't predict that.

This shouldn't really surprise us. The black/gaygaf fracas should have shown us that the tall blade of grass gets mowed down. If they're not even willing to to tell the racists and homophobes to pipe down and stop trolling to save those threads, there's little hope that they'll suddenly start adhering to principle when cartoon ponies are on the line.

CHEEZMO™ said:
1: It's not because he was just "dissing" it.

2: Its not just "my favourite cartoon".

I personally get a lot of shit for the things I like. I've even had one person go so far as to call me 'evil'.

The general pony-hate is enough, but something about that page just unsettled me.

I got the same sort of vibe. Reminds me of the gender policing I had to deal with back in middle school. Something was specifically unsettling about that level of vitriol, though I can't put it into words.

Pankaks said:
If I were in the position of a moderator, it would much easier to just say "Hey guys keep the pony pics in the pony thread" as opposed to just mass banning everyone that doesn't like them.

Actually, saying "those who take the posting of a pony macro to be an invitation to troll will be banned," seems like a reasonable policy. If other macros don't derail the thread, it's clearly not the macro that's responsible for the derailing but those who can't get their shit together enough not to react that are to blame.

Ookami-kun said:
A fine thought ( I thought 1 was better as well as the current season, Xros Wars). What irks me is they think 2 is good. Even Digimon fans know how awful it tried to derail the franchise, especially the first show.

I am so with you

1.) Tamers
2.) Savers
3.) Season 1
4.) Season 2
5.) Frontier

Haven't seen much of Xros yet, though the few episodes I watched didn't impress me. This is ironic posting in the MLP thread, but it felt like the whole thing was aimed at someone half my age... which is true of the original series as well, but now that I'm no longer of that age, it just doesn't appeal to me. Which wasn't true of Tamers or Savers when they came around, when I was a bit over the intended audience.

Plasmid said:
I'm not trying to discredit you, but it honestly seems that you were barely-tolerated, and i can somewhat understand Evilore but at the same time, the :lol smilies were removed due to overuse and the fact that they took away from discussion, .gif avatars were never really a problem until there was about a post in each thread containing pony gif attacking you guys.

I'm not accusing you of getting rid of avatars or anything, but can you understand where i'm coming from?

Blame the people quoting and making a big deal out of the .gif avatars, not the people having them.

If you're referring to pony image macros then sure (they're more trouble than they're worth), I agree with you. However, if you're referring to posters with pony avatars, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.

Selena-gaf and Jpop-gaf can do what they want. I'm certainly in no position to look down on them and call them creepy.

The backlash to such a policy would be enormous. A good chunk of people that would've taken part in this hypothetical discussion would probably end up banned.

I also would argue that it is the macro that causes derailment and trolling (Not for the right reasons but there you go).

Xros Wars starts slow, but gets better. The thing that I love Xros Wars are 1) a non-dumbass protagonist, 2) most awesome digimon partner ever, 3) throwing out power levels for the sake of action and story telling.

I'm a little late to this discussion, but you guys should realize that we do ourselves no favors by immediately being disgusted and offended by what other people are saying about us.

The first thing you need to come to grips with when you become a pony fan is that you're going to be met with a lot of skepticism. Afterall, this show is MY LITTLE PONY, a media franchise that's been associated with the vapid commercialization of tiny plastic dolls for little girls for around 20 years now. My Little Pony has been the butt of jokes for a very long time now. As a matter of fact, any time I feel the need to bring up a really shitty game as some sort of joke, I often bring up My Little Pony: Pinkie Pie's Party. Ragging on Barbie's Horse Adventures is getting kind of old.

So when communicating with those that are skeptical or even hateful towards you, the first step in changing their minds would be communicating that yes, it is kind of ridiculous that you watch My Little Pony. Yes, you are in fact a grown ass man watching a show made for little girls. Embrace the irony of it all.

Well yeah, sure.

But there's a difference between thinking it's ridiculous and thinking it's disgusting. I mean Christ, it's not like PonyGAF is a child pornography ring or something. It's a group of people who watch shows about ponies. If you're disgusted by that then God help you, child, you're not cut out for the internet.

Just to make it clear, I don't give a rat's ass about who says what about us. A lot of people have spewed crap in here or in other threads. I don't care in the slightest. I think I've only even responded to one troll, once. Ignore them and they go away, or welcome them if they sheepishly sneak in here after watching a few episodes.

The only reason I was bothered here is because, until now, the mods have been quite good to us. Amir0x is a bit of a dork, but he's a good guy anyway. Then all of a sudden we're threatened with banning. I don't care what Y2Kev thinks of us, but if his opinions dictate policy, I'm concerned :p

fyi ninj4junpei just posted a pony gif in the Squeenix thread and nobody batted an eyelid to that. So I guess really it's only certain circles of gaf that are against the ponies.

Maybe Squeenix-age immunity to moé~ helps with ponies.

Pretty much how I feel. There is no point to be mad at someone who expresses a dislike of something you like on the internet, especially if it's someone you've never met or talked to extensively before, and even if they're in a position of power. As far as I've seen, keep pony Macros/pictures and the rest of GAF separate and there will almost never be a problem.
yeah, but that's not exactly the most encouraging policy on a public forum. I'll abide to it, but it doesn't make it any less ridiculous.

Naw. If MLP was designed with the exact goal that grown men would hate it, then it would be ironic. That's clearly not the case as is indicated by many people who created the show. You're using the Alanis Morissette definition.

Well, I feel we've all learned an important lesson about tolerance and understanding. Thus, I feel completely safe posting human ponies. BWAHAHAHA! Hoisted by your own [understanding] petard!
Ponies in the style of Lauren's Galaxy Girls art, lauded by Ms. Faust herself.

Holy crap it's so good! Seriously this is my favorite thing ever.

I really like this artist's style (RD was posted a while back by ChuckNoLuck)

I hope this doesn't sound weird, but I think it's so cool that a lot of fan-artists draw Twilight Sparkle as black. It's nice for a smart, positive character to get that treatment.

[yes i've been reading, tolerance people! Move on!]

If anyone can help, I'm looking for a vector image of twilight, full body with a clear background. Only one I found sifting through deviant art and google images is

But the eyes are a little off on this one, so I challenge pony gaf to find a better vector image for me please!

Edit: There is another one

But i'd prefer something where she doesn't look annoyed/angry or is a filly.

How does it go . . . America > Japan > America?

From Disney, to anime, to anime imitation, if Japan was going to take MLP and do it, I imagine it'd look something like that picture, with humans instead of ponies, those giant eyes, and probably none of the quality. I could see it happening anyway.
