TBH, I don't think I've ever seen Y2Kev over in OT. I think he mostly stays over in gaming. I can definitely sympathize with what he's dealing with over there.

Moderation really isn't that dramatic, at least it wasn't in this case. I'm sure his message was posted more out of spite of ponies rather than trying to keep the peace.

It's the internet. Not sure what you expect, hate on the internet is just as valid as love on the internet. Do I know if they're being serious? Nope. Doesn't change the fact that they're still expressing opinions that may or may not be favourable. And then we have people like Plasmid coming in here thinking we're the cause of GIF avatars being lost, how we flooded threads with pony macros, when in reality, it was probably Pandaman posting that one picture, and some avatars, and some random pony macros that started this ball rolling.

Yeah, the .gif in question fitted the statement just fine. Forester, as stated, had no problem with it before. No one would have thought that other members would question the .gif and others try to use that to derail the thread. Again, just some bad timing. You can't predict that.

This shouldn't really surprise us. The black/gaygaf fracas should have shown us that the tall blade of grass gets mowed down. If they're not even willing to to tell the racists and homophobes to pipe down and stop trolling to save those threads, there's little hope that they'll suddenly start adhering to principle when cartoon ponies are on the line.

I personally get a lot of shit for the things I like. I've even had one person go so far as to call me 'evil'.

The general pony-hate is enough, but something about that page just unsettled me.

I got the same sort of vibe. Reminds me of the gender policing I had to deal with back in middle school. Something was specifically unsettling about that level of vitriol, though I can't put it into words.

If I were in the position of a moderator, it would much easier to just say "Hey guys keep the pony pics in the pony thread" as opposed to just mass banning everyone that doesn't like them.

Actually, saying "those who take the posting of a pony macro to be an invitation to troll will be banned," seems like a reasonable policy. If other macros don't derail the thread, it's clearly not the macro that's responsible for the derailing but those who can't get their shit together enough not to react that are to blame.

A fine thought ( I thought 1 was better as well as the current season, Xros Wars). What irks me is they think 2 is good. Even Digimon fans know how awful it tried to derail the franchise, especially the first show.

Which wasn't true of Tamers or Savers when they came around, when I was a bit over the intended audience.

I'm not trying to discredit you, but it honestly seems that you were barely-tolerated, and i can somewhat understand Evilore but at the same time, the :lol smilies were removed due to overuse and the fact that they took away from discussion, .gif avatars were never really a problem until there was about a post in each thread containing pony gif attacking you guys.

I'm not accusing you of getting rid of avatars or anything, but can you understand where i'm coming from?

The first thing you need to come to grips with when you become a pony fan is that you're going to be met with a lot of skepticism. Afterall, this show is MY LITTLE PONY, a media franchise that's been associated with the vapid commercialization of tiny plastic dolls for little girls for around 20 years now. My Little Pony has been the butt of jokes for a very long time now. As a matter of fact, any time I feel the need to bring up a really shitty game as some sort of joke, I often bring up My Little Pony: Pinkie Pie's Party. Ragging on Barbie's Horse Adventures is getting kind of old.

So when communicating with those that are skeptical or even hateful towards you, the first step in changing their minds would be communicating that yes, it is kind of ridiculous that you watch My Little Pony. Yes, you are in fact a grown ass man watching a show made for little girls. Embrace the irony of it all.

Pretty much how I feel. There is no point to be mad at someone who expresses a dislike of something you like on the internet, especially if it's someone you've never met or talked to extensively before, and even if they're in a position of power. As far as I've seen, keep pony Macros/pictures and the rest of GAF separate and there will almost never be a problem.
