don't know but you could still get a separate thread, for some reason there exists an SNSD thread which could easily exist within the K-pop thread, no idea why we need two threads of that nature.

This is something really extraordinary, in my opinion. And, going by Lauren Faust's statements, it was at least partly intentional.

The verdict: meh.

Speaking of which, why does My Little Pony get all this despise yet Sailor Moon can be discussed with no problem here in GAF?

As a longtime Sailor Moon fan, I can tell you that I've heard a lot of "Sailor Moon? Isn't that just more of that hentai stuff?" When they clued in that it wasn't hentai, it was a TV-safe show for little girls, the accusatory stare got even more twisted. That's when we'd start to crack out the excuses (I'd like to think I'm done with excuses). They think we sexualize everything by default. Actually, for a time this seemed to be true of all anime. First there was this complete ignorance where people thought any anime was a Disney cartoon, then they realized it's not and thought it was all porn. No middle ground. Fortunately, this seems to have worn off as anime seeped into the public consciousness.

I expect that they think we're sexualizing My Little Pony. And then their minds draw them a picture of what they think that means. But they're not into bestiality, so when that movie starts playing in their head, they start screaming "Make it stop, make it stop!" but they can't find the "off" button anywhere. It sounds funny, but they seriously just gave themselves a mild case of bestiality-rape. So they blame us for something that happened entirely in their own heads. When they find some rule 34 (even the relatively mild stuff Pandaman tossed around), they think it's proof that it's not just something that happened in their heads, it was real. But that, of course, misses the point, which is that nobody directly victimized them, they lost control of their own thoughts and victimized themselves over something that might have been entirely innocent.

That and many western, especially American males are deathly afraid of catching 'gay' and turning 'effeminate'. Their entire perception of reality falls apart when challenged, it's either sad or funny, I haven't quite decided yet.

Oh, come on. To question yourself, and to make an effort to answer those questions objectively, is to get to know yourself better. This makes you better equipped to react when others, in turn, find it fit to question you, your options and your tastes.

Once you get over the fact that some of the answers might not be what you'd like to know, it's an awesome, enlightening mental exercise.

Out of curiosity, did the older shows replace one with pony (as in everypony), or did that start with FiM?

I can field this one for you but first I need to justify myself. A good few weeks ago the ponygoons used to have a weekly stream of old MLP stuff like the movies, TV show and even some weird live show consisting of people in horrible costumes (All I've ever seen of that is a gif someone used as their avatar). Don't get me wrong, no-one liked it, the stream was basically like watching a bad movie with friends and the main point was so that people could see how much of a miracle FiM is in comparison to everything that came before it.
I had a look at one of the streams one time and saw a few episodes of an earlier season and it was terrible. If the old shows are what people think when they hear that people on GAF watch MLP then I fully understand why they are so dismissive.
Anyway, as far as I recall, none of the characters in the episodes I watched replaced one with pony. Although Rainbow Dash did say dahling every 5 minutes which was annoying as hell, and that alone should tell you how different it was.

I had a sneaking suspicion that this thread was being moved to community because either the mods were sick of seeing it or sick of reading the PMs asking them to wipe the thread from the forum. Or both. I mean, how many OT threads get moved here? Y2Kev almost confirms my thoughts by straight out calling it "disgusting pony shit" and with the other mods chiming in, it's almost a sure thing. They were probably against it from the start and the momentum it gained didn't help things.

At least now we have motives to think we know what the admins mean with the "special" on the forum description:
