Are you required to send the harddrive with the system? What would happen if I kept that here and sent it without it?
It had been giving me problems for a few months, but nothing that affected gameplay. Just weird noises and that sort of thing.
wrap it up in a towel, works for 30mins, enough time to try braid^^McHuj said:Damn. Mine Just RROD. And I was about to try Braid.
bumpkin said:My 360 RROD'ed back on August 8th... Bit the bullet and replaced it today (I was out of town all week). But you know, my friend's just died too and we both noticed two common factors...
- Our 360's were 20GB models
- They RROD'ed the next time we powered them on after the latest update
I wonder if there was something fucked with the firmware update like what happened with the 2.40 update for PS3's.
Got a June 2008 refurbished unit as a replacement, seems to run just as well as the original 2005 model. I'm guessing it's one of those Opus boards. And I got it back within a week of shipment! Overall a pleasent experience for a crappy situation.manngc said:Well, my original December 2005 360 finally Red Ringed tonight. I was trying to play Halo 3 when suddenly the system hard freezed. Rebooted it. Hard freeze again within 2-3 minutes. It did this 2 more times before finally giving the Red Ring and not booting. I've already ordered a coffin from the website.
Fortunately, I have a Falcon spare at my parents house. The Falcon was supposed to be used at my house but for some reason I can only rarely get both systems connected to Live at the same time, so I left the second one at my parents house. Too bad. Almost got 3 years out of a 2005 unit!!
hmmm when was this update? Mine was working fine until I turned it off, the next morning, 3rl, but I can't remember if I updated anything that session.Kabuki Waq said:same shit happened to me!

Calamachino said:I'm sending in my xbox 360 for the 5th time now, just got the RROD this morning.
Should I have talked to a supervisor or something, since this is my 5th time sending the system in?
The first person I talked to seemed concerned that it was my 5th repair, but I was disconnected with him.
The 2nd person I talked to (who completed the repair order) didn't even notice it was my 5th repair on my record and she sounded like a robot.
I want a brand new system after all this, not a fucking repair!
Fantasmo said:I've been told that I will get another 3 year warrenty for RROD. Is this true?
Well, the warranty page on service.xbox.com has changed to November 19 2008, which is 3 months from when I requested repair.Sp3eD said:They told me one year.
cjelly said:Any Euro GAFers in here?
My 360 got delivered to the Service Centre by UPS yesterday morning, but it's yet to change to 'Delivered to Service Centre' on the service.xbox.com status page?
I'm guessing it only gets registered when it's abouts to get fixed?
E74? Care to PM me the details. New 360 ELITE owner here looking for infos just incase.Magik said:Time for me to join the club.
Came home to find the other dreaded error, E74.
Fuck you MS. Fuck you and your shitty hardware.

Search for "E74".
Basically the scaler chip has come loose and the warranty doesn't cover it. Fantastic.
Man, I'm am fucking PISSED right now and it's only my first 360. I can't imagine going through this more than once. 10 months going great than BAM, 360 is dead.
I am in amazement as to how anybody continues to put up with their 360's dying over and over.
Even though it's my first 360, I'm seriously thinking of getting a PS3 and not looking back. I just do not have the patience to deal with this shit.
FUCK! -_-

gururoji said:Alright guys. I just got the RRoD and did the usual replugging of power cables like everyone suggests, no luck. I was getting some intermittent freezing and I was just trying to hold out until the Sept. price drop to get a new one and transfer my stuff! So much for that plan.
So I'm about to call, but has anyone tried the so called James Dean fix that you can buy directions for at xbox360redlightfix.com? I'd be fine with potentially voiding the warranty on my current box if I could just fix the thing right now, and I build PCs and have modded PS1s, so I'm comfortable opening the thing up...I just wasn't sure if the directions for the fix were worth paying for. They say it is not the towel fix and doesn't involve soldering, and they guarantee it...
Any opinions?
pr0cs said:If you're set on fixing it yourself I would follow this guide:

I've read a number of people use this method and had some success. I don't know how long the machine will last but it's a good last resort before throwing the box in the trash.
