Nanostray- The Nanothread

Well, it's released this week. It looks awesome, it sounds awesome. Play gave it 8.5 and said the soundtrack is better than 95% of soundtracks on consoles. I don't trust Play hype, so I'm back to square one, meaning self-hype. :) This one looks good.

From the official site: http://www.nanostray.com
-8 weapons and sub-weapons, boasting tons of fire power to decimate your enemies
-Touch screen features such as boss scanning, on-the-fly weapon management and live radar
-8 stages to conquer; battle through environments like subterranean minefields, arctic mountains and hell-like lava fields
-4 additional multi-player stages
-Unlockable features and game modes add re-playability once players complete their campaign
-2-player head-to-head single-card wireless functionality
-Online ranking system via www.nanostray.com allows players to post their high scores and compete against best in the world
-Blazing fast graphics running at a constant super-smooth 60 frames per second
-From the creators of the "Iridion" Game Boy Advance series

but don't search for it at ebgames.com.....it's not there!

You can get a glimpse of the 8 stages at the world rankings part of the site:
http://www.nanostray.com/worldranking/

The developers inspirations for Nanostray are:
"of course we looked at viewpoint. we also looked at raystorm, raycrisis, ikaruga, border down, zero gunner, psyvariar, and a lot more... we're shooter-fans ourselves :)"
http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=922246&topic=22264648

What's next for the developers? "Definitely another DS game. Can't say more though."
http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=922246&topic=22259184

By the way, this Bartman guy I'm quoting is currently the only one on the world rankings at the site. :) Should be fun to beat his score.

Sounds good. It comes out tommorow right?

I want to beat that dude's score, completely forgot about that scoreboard thing.

Play Magazine gave it an 8.5/10.

Nanostray
"I don't think people have any idea how great a shooter is waiting in the wings, or what the DS is capable of..."
+ A dazzling shooter in the vein of the best in the genre... that you can take with you. Now that's progress!
- It's short (but oh so sweet!)

"Nanostray becomes a spell-binding shooter accompanied by the kind of dreamy soundtrack this industry has all but forgotten. I order you to wear headphones (or ear buds if you're feeling sadistic) when you play Nanostray. The music obliterates 95 percent of what's out there on consoles."

I just found out about this game a couple days ago, and I'm very excited about it. I've got it coming from Gamefly later this week, if anybody picks it up post impressions so I know whether or not I should keep it =p.

It was very fun from what I played at E3. And its definately one of the more graphical DS games out there. Probably has the best use of 3D on the DS so far of all the games.

Comes out tomorrow, right?
I'll make my Walmart trip and grab it. It sucks not having a FRYS right by where I live anymore.

go to EB games or something.

BOYCOTT WALMART!

Tell me about it Olimario, I actually got lost trying to get to the one on 45 the other day. Don't laugh though, it'd been a while since I'd been there. Fry's should definately have a deal on this game I'd imagine.

Where abouts do you live? I'll help you navigate

Oh I know how to get there now.

I live right outside the Houston city limits, off Wallisville and Uvalde (if you know where San Jacinto College North is, that's about a 10 min walk from my house).

Yeah, I'm freaking excited, jazzed, geeked, pumped, etc. for this game. It and Mario Kart DS consumed me at E3 this year. I couldn't stop playing either.

So you take the tollway to 45 south
Don't you lose a couple bucks going that way?

My local EB will get it, already pre-ordered. We'll only get it on the 21st though, damn province of Quebec.

Good to see a nice score for the game.

Hmm, I'll wait until the first impressions of the game before I decide on a purchase. But unless Shinen made some major errors, I can't imagine that I wouldn't eventually get it.

The next game thats coming that interests me (if IGN's Release List is accurate) is "Lost In Blue", it seemed very immersive when I played it at E3 (which is a tough environment to play this type of game), and I could easily put in a few hours playing it.

NO! I DONT SAVE MONEY THAT WAY!

Wal-Mart has the WORST game prices. That's locally, as well as in a national survey by one of the gaming publications last year, though I forget who. They never have sales and often don't even properly mark down to lower suggested retails (other than the greatest hits, etc.)

But...but....what about the rollback smiley?! :(

just ordered the us version.
it's a shame this won't get released in Europe as of now - it's made by germans!

So, IGN, Gamespot, what happened to giving reviews BEFORE a game ships?
If neither site has reviewed it yet, you can be pretty sure the problem is the distributor/publisher and not the writers being lazy. They have to actually get the game to review it, you know.

Craig on the IGN boards said that he just got his copy yesterday. Luckily it's a short game so it shouldn't take too long before he can get a review up, maybe even as early as tonight but don't hold your breath on that one.

does anyone still have the deal for the blue ds with Mario? I'm thinking about buying another one to loan to friends for multiplayer.

Ordered !

Manfred Linzner is probably the last good 'traditional videogame music composer'; Iridion 2 is worth playing for the soundtrack alone; heavily Turrican / Huelsbeck inspired, very good stuff.
Can't wait to listen to Nanostray's soundtrack

I'm headin' out to the store to pick this badboy up --- I need a good shooter, hope today's the launch and not the ship-date.

Any idea why the ebgames.com website has no listing? Hopefully just a hiccup while they get it in stock

According to an employee that posts at IGN (ugh), Nanostray isn't going to be carried by EB. I don't know if I believe him or not, but he says it's not in their systems and when he asked why he was told they wouldn't be carrying the title.

EDIT: Apparently the game was delayed by one day as well. Any confirmation on this?

Eh, Nanostray sales -1.

GameStop.com lists it as a 7/20 release, so most stores won't have it till Wednesday.

Huhhh I work part time in an EB and I pre-ordered it. It's listed for tomorrow the 21st. I truly hope he isn't right. I'm talking about the EB Canada system though.

If it's indeed real, screw them. They didn't carry Puyo Pop Fever for GC and a bunch of other smaller titles, maybe thinking that no one would buy them or something.

This is a must buy for me, though I might have to wait until my next paycheck.

Maybe Fred Meyer's will have it by then anyway and I can use my discount.

Friday plz?

Friday would be a good possibility for Fred Meyer. My Fred Meyer usually has stuff the day after places like Gamestop and EB.

I was thinking about picking this one for the weekend. I'll wait for impression, but unless the game receives very bad critics, i'll probably buy it.
