I think everyone predicted Obito would give Kakashi the power of both eyes when he died. It would make no sense NOT to. You can't let a power like that die when it could still help save the world.

Sharingan wasn't really the ass pull it is now back then but it still gave one hell of an advantage. If he didn't have it (or the curse mark) and Naruto didn't have the Kyubbi boost later on I wonder how the battle would've gone down...
