NASCAR: The Game 2011

This will be my next purchase since GT5.

I love Nascar and i can´t wait to get my hands on a good game. I´m trusting the handling on this one because it´s Eutechnyx, let´s see if they can deliver!

Good choice putting #48 on the cover. At least somebody recognizes his work...

All the number/sponsor swaps are in right? The commercial during the 500 had 2010 numbers/sponsors so that made me kinda worried...

The game is based on the 2010 season, so it has those driver/team pairings. They are supposed to offer the 2011 cars as (free?) DLC at some point though, if I am not mistaken.

Ah ok, good to hear. I know this isn't a pure sim or anything, but having the stuff you are driving in game look the same as the stuff currently on the TV is good.

This game looks absolutely beautiful. I was checking out a few videos and screen caps and Im wondering-does anyone know what the victory celebration looks like and if they show the driver celebrating, will the drivers look like their real life counter parts?

So, uh gamestop and amazon (ca) are listing this as a march 29th release. Did something happen?

Oh man, gamestop/amazon.com too :/

Hopefully this is as good as the old Sierra Nascar games back in the day. I'm not a huge Nascar fan, but I totally loved those Papyrus games. I had a love\hate relationship with Watkins Glen.

So's football, yet EA still releases Madden in Europe.

I recall that EA also released a number of their nascar titles here in the UK...

It's a real shame, although I'm not an avid nascar follower, I really liked FC and SCC so was looking forward to getting hold of this. Now that it's going to be alot more difficult to come by I'm not so sure.

Maybe there is hope that it will come to PSN much like they did with Ferrari Challenge?

So that Daytona racing looked good. 2 car draft works if you're pushing another AI car. Also I hope the framerate is better than it showed on the ps3 version or it's just the nature of the upload feature.

Get Monster Games to remake Dirt to Daytona on the current consoles/PC.

That's all I need, my friend.

Also, does anyone miss careers in racing games where you actually struggle at first in career mode? I remember playing NASCAR Thunder 2003 and barely being able to finish about 25th for much of my first season because your team starts off so terribly. Not because the AI difficulty is so high, but because your engines and chassis sucked so much because your team had absolutely no money.

That, AND I miss other drivers retiring and you being offered jobs by other teams the more successful you got.

Since then however, almost every NASCAR game has been "Oh lol, paint your car and win the first race! Don't worry about building cars or doing anything like that since it doesn't matter anymore! We want you to be a winner, so here's the Daytona 500 trophy in your first NASCAR race ever! Oh, and sorry but none of these drivers have retired because you can still drive competitively when you're 85!"

God I miss it in these games when finishing in the Top 10 actually meant something. Now you can win every damn race of the season in your first year of career mode.

I wish Papyrus were still actively making games. I remember the good ol days playing NASCAR Racing from Papyrus and IndyCar 2 over my 33.6 with my buddies.

They are. It's called iRacing.

that picture in picture isn't an in game feature, it was edited in to show the replay angles. and it seems activision has blocked eutechnyx from releasing the 360 version as region free.

9 days to go for the ps3 and 360 versions, the wii version has been delayed until april.

Looking forward to this even though it looks like I will have to import...

Reviews and impressions always seem to be in short supply prior to release of the Eutechnyx games (FC, SCC) - any impressions on the title before I bite the bullet?

There's a Wii version? Didn't know that.

There was also a respectable version of Ferrari Challenge released.

However (using FC as an example) I suspect the PS360 versions will be the way to go if you have the option and want to enjoy the title in its full glory!

NASCAR The Game 2011 – Fontana Preview Video

InsideSimRacing has released an exclusive NASCAR The Game 2011 gameplay video, showing us racing action on the Autoclub Speedway Fontana.

Driving in the video is none other than iRacing NASCAR champion Richard Towler who is also heavily involved in the development of the upcoming title.

Developed by Eutechnyx & published by Activision, NASCAR The Game 2011 will include the 2010 & 2011 (post-release download) NASCAR Sprint Cup seasons. Features include a very detailed damage model, career mode & 16-player multiplayer mode. The title will be available for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 & Nintendo Wii starting March 29.

I remember tapping the rear bumper of any AI driver just enough to dent it would be enough to send them to the pit. Do it too hard and the pit crew would remove the bumper, and you couldn't do it again.

Such a great game.

game looks terrible... cars cast no shadows, zero anti-aliasing, and visible air draft?

not to mention kyle busch drove from 43rd to 1st in 2-3 laps? hmmm

i think our best chance for a realistic nascar game is to bug Polyphony on twitter to put in more nascar tracks and cars.

I think the game looks great considering there's a 43 car field and I don't really see much in the way of slowdown. What other console racing games have 43 cars on the screen simultaneously? You're going to have to make some concessions to get that. Also, I am pretty sure you can turn the draft meter and other assists off, and this guy probably isn't racing on the hardest difficulty. I don't think this is going to be a hardcore sim, but I think it's shaping up to probably be the best NASCAR game on a console so far. I played it at Bristol on Sunday and it was really fun and drove well, although I am pretty sure some assists were on. Also, the damage model is fantastic.

You can turn off the visible air draft. And any other visible aid in the game.

Those of you that are going to buy the game I was curious if you were going to get it for 360 or PS3?
Ps3. Mainly because I'm going to use a G25 wheel. Hopefully the port is good :/.

I think it's safe to say the PS3 version is in good hands. I would like to think it's not a 'port' and instead hope it's the lead system given Eutechnyx pedigree of releasing Ferrari Challenge and Supercar Challenge exclusivly on the PS3 (not taking into account the Wii version of FC)...
