The problem is lots of people out there think they're getting quality information from Chuck. People in this thread know it's just dumb entertainment, but like Gigglepoo mentioned, lots of people out there consider him an "important" voice in sports and put a lot of stock into what he says. Which is terrifying considering how stupid 95% of it is.

And tbh, I never watch any of that TNT shit so I'd actually love someone like Lowe or Amin. They're excellent on Rachel Nichols' show The Jump. But I'm probably in the minority there.

Why is it a problem? He's no dumber than the vast majority of the sports landscape. How many morons listen to Mike and Mike and First Take every day, who cares? To your second point, he is an important voice and I do put stock into what he says when he's talking about individual players. He can't speak intelligently about every aspect of the game, but he has his experience and others' to draw from and unlike Magic or whatever, he's not trying to come off as a polished, inoffensive tv personality.

The TNT show is the only, well with the exception of ESPN's tennis coverage, sports related show I ever watch. Take is from someone who listens to the Lowe post and used to listen to ESPN's basketball pods until Amin metastasized all over their stuff, Barkley is worth all of them put together 5 times over. I like Zach, he's informative, but the personality of a goldfish wouldn't fit on what is essentially a late night show anchored by basketball.

Wizards looking like themselves from a few years ago.

Don't feel comfortable with the current Raptors team beating any team in the East currently slated for a playoff spot.

Oh stuff like First Take and Mike and Mike are trash also imo. Chuck isn't the only moron to get elevated in sports media.

As for the second paragraph, I couldn't disagree more, but I guess that's just personal taste.

All those empty seats at Houston

I wonder what, in addition to houston traffic, drivers, downtown only recently getting better, Houston being spread out, might be causing that...

Might be the Super Bowl XD

Dammit Howard....

I miss you. Don't want you on this team, with this system, but you were awesome for this city.

For all the shit we got last year, Howard wasn't the way he was in Orlando or Los Angeles with us, and everyone in the organization, Howard, Harden, Brewer, Ariza, despite the locker room and chemistry issues being obvious, let the media settle for mere rumours or whispers. Compare that to, say, the Bulls this year.

All those empty seats at Houston

That's not the first time that's happened either. I don't know if security in Houston is weird or maybe traffic, but what's visible on tv at the start of games is jarring. No other nba arena like it that I've seen.

Other thing is that fans take a while to get in (our seats will fill up as game goes on), and tbf, getting to downtown from outside right after or as work is ending is tough.

Also we have alot of corporate ticket holders that quite often miss games

Wow, how come I've never seen this before?

Just got to wonder what negative effects would come out of having 6 billion people in such a small area, you know, high density at all. Wait, I should know this.

Houston, and tbh, most of the Texas cities (Dallas is comparable to us, Austin and San Antonio better), have decided cheap land, oil based economis (which leads to more cars) means cities should be built and expanded by spreading outwards

Going by the official limits of Houston - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_area

Only significant city with a larger area is OKC. And significant is debatable.

Going by metropolitan areas -
http://www.citymayors.com/statistics/largest-cities-area-125.html (btw, this list REALLY highlights how bad the USA is about this overall)

We're still up there. One major thing to add, this isn't a center out situation, Houston is pretty spread out equally, and our downtown isn't anything especially concentrated. We're still better than LA with traffic though, I mean, road rage incidents and crappy traffic is a major issue, but we aren't LA

Houston is apparently the only city without any zoning requirements or something. Which is why there is a sex shop next to a Bank, LOL.

Houston's sprawl is terrible, admittedly. I don't know the city well enough to know why traffic is awful, though.

Houston isn't the only city, but it's by far the largest outlier as a city without zoning ordinances.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoning_in_the_United_States#Houston

Among large populated cities in the United States, Houston is unique as the largest city in the country with no zoning ordinances. Houston voters have rejected efforts to implement zoning in 1948, 1962, and 1993. It is commonly believed that "Houston is Houston" because of the lack of zoning laws.[1] Houston is similar, however, to other large cities throughout the Sun Belt, who all experienced the bulk of their population growth during the Age of the Automobile. The largest of these cities, such as Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, Tampa, Dallas, Phoenix, and Kansas City, have all experienced urban sprawl such as experienced by Houston despite having zoning systems.[2][3][4]
While Houston has no official zoning ordinances, many private properties have legal covenants or "deed restrictions" that limit the future uses of land, witheffects similar to those of zoning systems.[3][5]
Also, the city has enacted development regulations that specify how lots are subdivided, standard setbacks, and parking requirements.[6] The regulations have contributed to the city's automobile-dependent urban sprawl, by requiring the existence of large minimum residential lot sizes and large commercial parking lots.
Without land use-based zoning, many neighborhoods in the inner-ring outskirts, such as Montrose, feature small businesses such as bars, restaurants, mechanics, and hardware stores that are mixed in among residential streets.

White Chocolate on if he was in a D'Antoni system: "I mean, it's crazy, with all these shooters, I could average maybe, 20 assists?" XD

At least he did say he wouldn't score nearly as much as the guards of today

This year the dunk contest features Derrick Jones of the Suns who has played 8 minutes this year. 8.

Simmons apparently declined, which is sad.

At least DJ vs Gordon will probably be good, but DJ, Gordon, and Simmons (not to mention LaVine) could've made this dunk contest legendary

I liked that little exchange when Beverly was talking shit after almost getting a steal and then Howard put him on his ass. Must've been so deflating.

Sixers rounding out the top 3 let's goooooo!

Should be an interesting matchup tomorrow.

Wait, really? I thought the 76ers were sixth in total wins?

Or am I thinking of win percentage.

Still pretty cool. 76ers are the fourth greatest NBA franchise of all time but no one realizes this due to their poor seasons in recent years. Shame.

Nah, Lakers, Celtics, and Spurs are guaranteed top 3, and Bulls and Pistons (and Rockets?) should at least arguably be in contention with the sixers
