Well, believe or not, I think he did it to fire them up. Warriors were shooting something like 34%, missing free throws and I don't think Durant had hit a shot further out than 7 feet since the game before the Clippers game. They looked like they were trying to not blow the Kings out at first, but when it came time to "turn it on" they just couldn't do it.
I've seen coaches sacrifice themselves before in an attempt to motivate the team to try harder for the sake of the coach. Warriors did it for all of 30 seconds of game time, long enough to erase the 5 point lead the Kings had, but then the offensive lull and turnover machine kicked back in.
But whether it was on purpose or not, it didn't seem to motivate the Warriors enough to either way. Kings wanted it more plain and simple.
and seriously, Warriors looked bored in the Clippers game, so maybe it was that lack of effort/energy that carried over to today. Like they expected a win, and then couldn't just will it their way in the end. can't win em all.
