Lavine played for 5 minutes on one last night. I also know shit about this stuff, but I don't think you can see soft tissue damage on an X-ray. I'm guessing nothing is torn, but past that it's up in the air.
Yeah, that's what I figured. Don't want to be doom and gloom, but hopefully he's okay in the long run.

Dave Joerger looks like a porn director from the 70s in that suit.

edit: Kerr goes from his t1000 face to f bombs, Cousins loving all of it. I told yall this was gonna be a good one.

I've been Kings fan for 15 years but I'm starting to think the Kings should just trade Cousins to a winning franchise. Have to admire his loyalty, but the dude deserves a legitimate shot at NBA success. Kings front office has been bumbling for a decade now, from the Maloofs, to Vivek Ranadive's meddling with basketball decisions (firing Mike Malone was their biggest mistake so far), and Vlade Divac, who has limited to now front office experience, being the GM.

Small part of me hoping that the team just gets contracted (lol) so that I can switch to a new team.

Why.. Would they do that? I'm pretty sure that would dwarf any mistake they made previously.

I believe he's signing a 5 year with the kings soon.

After all the fuck ups I'm glad they are finally in a position to do something that is so obviously good.

Plus he wants to be here. He's staying and I don't know why he wouldn't.

Cousins is great. It took the longest time for me to buy in because I grew up watching Shaq and a big man with no lift doesn't look right to me, but he's just too good. First team all NBA this year.

ALWAYS go 2 for 1. And they had 2 time outs, fuckity! Mike Brown strikes again. Great game.

Cousins almost had it, but so did Curry 2 possessions ago so whatever.

Kings are so bad when it comes to late game execution. They just usually turn it over or get a shot clock violation.

Edit:

Or they just put up a terrible shot, which cousins just did in their last possession.

GET. DURANT. THE BALL.

It's not a big deal, but they likely win that game with Kerr on the sideline. Get your shit together Stevie.

Can't believe that game...

I still hate how the NBA won't show replays of calls that just happened.
I have no idea why that 1st Tech was called that Kerr purposely got himself ejected over.
the 2 "fouls" called on Looney were Bullshit too.

I also have no idea why they also called a T on Cousins, as it happened during the break.

But Durant has been cold these last 2 games.

And Curry... WTF man, you miss an open layup for the win... smfh.

Layups and Free Throws as soon as you boys get back to Oakland.
Kerr got himself ejected for no good reason now.

Had Klay hit Curry on the wing during that post-ejection rally, I bet the game would have gone differently. And considering that the Kings were 1 foul away from putting the Warriors in the bonus... yet no one really attempted to draw the foul inside...
I just think the Kings wanted this one way more than the Warriors did.

They should have let Briante play. LOL

honestly, the last 2 plays should have been switched. Dray gets the open layup/dunk, and then Curry gets that last open 3.

An out of bounds play and all they get is a contested catch and shoot for Draymond. This is what happens when you let Mike Brown run things.

I wouldn't call that open. Guys like Kyrie make it look easy, but it's really not. Steph should have pump faked or taken a step around him, but maybe he thought there were other players closing.

I agree that the kings wanted it more. Keep in mind they just lost to the fucking suns off of an accidental bank shot last night. They could have came out droopy but they showed the fuck up tonight and played a playoff style game.. And beat the best team in the league.

That was some old school post season shit right there.

Other than watching more games... is say watch old games. Like the playoff games the NBA legends played. Read on the games history too. Also what the fundamental numbers to know in a basketball stat. Then from there read the nerd shit the sabermetricians been working on currently about advanced stats. Look up on the basketball jargons you hear often too. I cannot emphasize watching old games and learning the games history enough.

Don't do any of the bolded. It's the way to become a keyboard warrior, not a person who understands basketball.

he got spooked, but dude was too late to block that layup. Had it been Dray or KD it woudln't have mattered as it would have been a dunk.

Really though, Curry was fouled on the previous layup, but it would have been Cousins 6th foul, so I can only imagine that's why they didn't bother to call it. Curry only gets calls on fouls that damn near cripple him anyway, so I wasn't really surprised.

but it's only loss #8 of the season... no big deal... for now.

Yup means nothing to warriors. Everything for the kings though. You'd think we just won the goddamn Olympic gold medal.

But it was earned.

For real though Kerr needs to get a grip lol. Thus like the 3rd time I've seen him lose his shit this season.

He got ejected on purpose. Unfortunately it only HYPED up the Warriors long enough to erase the 5 point deficit. his play was, well... ineffective.

It left us with a final shot 3 point play drawn up for... Draymond!?

I'm just mad I didn't get to go this this game. I went to the last one at the new stadium up in Sac. That was a pretty good game too.

Lol there's no way he did it as a part of a greater plan. I think he just lost it accidentally then just went all in once he realized how pissed he was. At that point I'm sure he knew he was gone but to get tossed over something like that is absurd. And I've seen him lose his shit over less than what we saw tonight. He lost the game by getting tossed.

Well, believe or not, I think he did it to fire them up. Warriors were shooting something like 34%, missing free throws and I don't think Durant had hit a shot further out than 7 feet since the game before the Clippers game. They looked like they were trying to not blow the Kings out at first, but when it came time to "turn it on" they just couldn't do it.

I've seen coaches sacrifice themselves before in an attempt to motivate the team to try harder for the sake of the coach. Warriors did it for all of 30 seconds of game time, long enough to erase the 5 point lead the Kings had, but then the offensive lull and turnover machine kicked back in.

But whether it was on purpose or not, it didn't seem to motivate the Warriors enough to either way. Kings wanted it more plain and simple.

and seriously, Warriors looked bored in the Clippers game, so maybe it was that lack of effort/energy that carried over to today. Like they expected a win, and then couldn't just will it their way in the end. can't win em all.

Meh I seriously don't think Kerr is dumb enough/has such little confidence in his team that he believes he needs to sacrifice himself, his leadership and two free points in a back and forth game to beat a team with 20 wins.

You could be right, but the minute I saw him jump up, and Mike Brown try to hold him back immediately,. I knew he was angling to get tossed. and then he just kept going and and started dropping F-Bombs
Maybe he really did just lose his shit over 2 bad calls and a mystery Tech on Dray, or maybe he was doing it to put the refs on notice and motivate the team.

I mean fouls afterwards from the refs calmed down, but it really didn't matter in the end.

speaking of which, does anyone know what the 2 T's were for? 1 on Dray and 1 on Cousins?

Depends on if you actually understand, and contextualize these stats or not. I wouldn't really care too much about advanced stats if you're just getting into it, just know that the +/- that game trackers always have for the box scorers is a reeeaaaalllly iffy way to measure a player's performance sometimes.

That being said, hope you're not one of the people who thinks understanding basketball is watching the game and thinking the eye test is good enough.

Pop has done this multiple times, often when the Spurs seem to just be going through the motions, letting a worse team beat them.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was similar here

Green was walking away from the ref and said something to him I think. Cousins held up his hand in a zero in regard to the shot clock I think and did it too aggressively for the official's liking. It was right after a timeout. Both seemed really questionable.

They showed Boogie's T after getting back from the break at the quarter. He basically was making a zero with his hand and holding it up above his head (I think at the refs), to say either that the Warriors hadn't been called for any fouls that quarters, or that he wasn't getting any fouls (that quarter?)

He did it a few more times in the 4th too, was honestly pretty funny. Boogie gets fucked over so much by the refs it's ridiculous. That game where he got ejected and they then un-ejected him after it was shown to be a bunch of bullshit convinced me.

It's a dumb strat in the context of the tonight's game (in general too). All it does is give away free points in an already close game and forces the assistant coach into a position that they're probably not super prepared for.

I really doubt that's what Kerr was doing.

I've always enjoyed watching games, but I'm trying to understand basketball more now, how should I begin?

Until a few years ago, I think I just understood shooting/scoring, passing, blocks, steals, rebounds... individual actions, really. (Side note, Taurean Prince's explanation for his team being outrebounded is still a classic.) But then I read the now-defunct website NBA Playbook, which described in painstaking detail how an actual play worked, with descriptions, video clips, and it helped me understand what the players were doing as a team. So I would recommend the Explain One Play feature at Golden State of Mind, which highlights a particular play from every Warriors win over the past two seasons, sometimes defensive schemes, usually offensive plays. It's very helpful for explaining how players get open for shots.

(NBA Playbook was so good that the guy behind it eventually got hired by the Thunder, and so he ended up taking his site down, but others have since picked up the play breakdown game.)

There's also BBall Breakdown, where they'll slow down individual plays and talk through how they worked (or didn't work) and also what other options were available out of a play.

IThat said, the idea of players only being validated or legitimized if they have a ring is so fucking stupid.

Since I follow the nba, I could probably name less than 10 players (Jordan, Hakeem, Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, Wade, Dirk, Lebron) who could bring that up and have a valid point. Even those know circumstances helped them to win and, many, to repeat.

That secondary players bring this up to throw shade at former amazing players is bonkers.
