Meh the PC version of 2k14 looks almost as good and is a lot cheaper.

I wonder why everything next gen is being shown on PS4.
Is it actually the best looking version to show off, or is there some $$ deal

Make no mistake, NBA 2k games do not have CGI movies or photoshot modes like racing games. You cannot make a NBA 2k game look any better or worse, the only thing there is, is the gameplay.

These are cutscenes you see during gameplay, during end of a quarter or middle during gameplay.

You are welcome to be skeptical but anyone who has played these games knows these things. They used different camera angles because it looks cooler/more cinematic. Of course you arent going to play the game as it would be unplayable, you need to see most of the court when you play.

I've played all NBA 2K games from 2011 onwards (4 games), on PC.

They're basically the exact same game with changed/different controls in every iteration, new rosters, and maybe an overall 5-8% improvement in graphics from 2011 to 2014.

I stress the fact that I've played all of them on PC, with high-ultra settings, and 50+ FPS.

Even 2014 on PC is nowhere close to what this trailer shows, so yes, color me skeptical when I don't see actual gameplay but cutscenes and bulltrailers.

Is there somewhere i could go to learn about Basketball? I'd love to get this game but i know nothing about the sport in terms of tactics which i presume play a major role here. Every time i pick up a BB game i just try to get the ball to the opposite side as soon as possible and try to do a slam dunk.

This game is to pretty to miss, and it's supposed to be a good representation of the sport too right?

the best way to learn is to watch a lot of it and play really. If it's too late for you to start learning to play, then I suggest just watching some NBA TV and just trying to pick the game up.

I've been playing 2k for a while now and they're really trying to cater to the casual fan without alienating their core audience (simulation basketball junkies). I think it's more accessible now than before. But yeah, it would help if you try to use some real strategy in the game, but not absolutely essential to your experience.

Oh yes they are sports re releases. I cannot disagree with that point, the changes are minor.

The PC version of 2k14 is NOT the same as the PS4/Xbone versions. I own the game, its the same as the PS3 version bar higher resolution.

These are different versions, the PC just did not get the next gen one for whatever reasons.

Be skeptical, you will get blown away.

Next gen games are going to bring next gen visual assets to PC. Just because we were running PS3 games on Ultra doesn't mean we were seeing next gen visuals. It's obvious that 2K didn't do the standard crossgen thing of simply bumping up resolution and improving some textures. It seems like the did a lot of work on the models and all that for next gen hardware. The 5 on 5 on a smallish court probably made it more possible to do with this game than something like CoD.

It looks like the PC version didn't get this build this year. Probably next year.

Looks great! Makes me wish I played basketball games. Might still pick it up at some point. Definitely hyped me up for next gen hockey!

But but but it's "in engine!". I agree though. Was hoping to see the game actually being played, but we're not far off from it releasing. So no biggie. They sure did give Lebron's graphics much more attention than Kobe and some of the others

I can't believe people think this is some touched up photo mode. NBA 2K games dont have a photo mode. What you see in replays is what you get.

Someone should make a gif of the Deandre jordan Jordan dunk on Brandon Knight. Have Ronnie 2k throwing the alley to Jordan as a 2k14 game box art dunking on knight as a live game box art.

Wrong. I don't get those camera angles when playing a game, save for halftime highlights and end of game highlights.

Why can't they just show the thing how EVERYONE will be playing it? Oh right, because it looks prettier to show different camera angles. I own 2k12, 2k13 and will own 2k14 it just a pet peeve of mine when sports game show bullshot mode as a gameplay trailer.

Fun fact: The song in the trailer is no coincidence. This has been the Heat team intro song for 2 different seasons.

Because apparently people want to believe they will be able to smell Kobe's sweat while Harden's beard will caress their shoulders on his way to the dunk.

Because the person who put the trailer together thinks it looks better this way?

They have done the same since forever. Do the cutscenes you get in older games look graphically better/worse than the gameplay one? No, so why are you skeptical?

Why would this version be 50 gigs when the PC version is only 8 gig? If it was the same version? What logical explanation could there possibly be here?

Man 2k should be thrilled that people think it looks so good they have become skeptical. Nobody is skeptical of most next gen games, but this one, yeah. Means they have done a excellent job

I hope so, but until then, I consider this a bulltrailer.

This reminds me of how people thought the original reveal trailer for Infamous Second Son was all pre-rendered stuff even though Sucker Punch clearly stated it was actual gameplay shot with different camera angles. The NBA2K trailer clearly mentioned that it was actual PS4 footage with different camera angles.

Yeah, but you don't play the game like that. Some playing animation would be nice. I don't watch replays past the first day I own the game and for sure you don't play the game at that camera angle.

Those cloth physics are awesome.

The big flaw is the dead eyes. I wonder how hard it would be to program in eyes that actually lock onto something, like another person or the ball, and follow it, even as the head moves. It'd help out a lot.

Holy shit.

Very impressed.

Best looking nextgen game so far.

EA, cancel NBA Live.

I didn't call it photo mode. I said I wanted to see the game actually being played. Not replayed.

The thread is called "NBA 2K14 NextGen Trailer" not "NBA 2K14 NextGen Gameplay." It's a trailer. We went through this ad nauseam with the GTA trailers. When you see a movie trailer, do you say, "I didn't see any scenes of extended dialog or character development?"
