Then do it. No more about to, actually fucking do it.
There are likely so many advertising deals and contracts of all sorts in place that it is impossible to just "do it". They've probably been in negotiations to get out of it for a while but are only just now able to actually do so.

Wait what? How did DY vote for it? I thought it passed through the states legislature? Was it a referendum?

The current issue is HB2, which was passed by the state legislature at the end of March of this year and then signed by the governor. It was not a referendum.

However, in the primary season of 2012, NC had a referendum called Amendment One that passed with a large majority that defined marriage as between one man and one woman. However, we know this has since been ruled unconstitutional.

Ah i see. Didn't know about amendment one, makes sense now. Thanks.

Wow. Good for the NBA. Sucks Charlotte has to suffer due to the state (unless polling indicated support for this law in the city), but a good move overall to make.

smh should have moved it somewhere that didn't just pass a blatantly racist law.

Edit: Thought they had confirmed it was going to be in New Orleans but it hasn't yet. I hope they decide to have it somewhere else but they will probably just ignore the racism and have it in NO anyway.

Just built a new arena! But I think Orlando recently hosted it within the last 2-3 years.
To be fair so did New Orleans. 2014 in fact.

I think people need to remember it's no small task to up and leave out of numerous contracts and then coordinate a relocation that will be optimal for all relevant parties and interests.

wow i'm surprised a big league actually went through with their threats. good for them and hopefully the nfl also starts putting pressure on them.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Good. Glad they didn't back down after making the threat.

Yeah, Orlando certainly has the capacity I would think to pull it off on a reduced timeline.

wait.. so have they pulled it, or are they thinking about it? Title says they have, OP says they are looking at doing it..

I only see one dudes tweet as proof, nothing on ESPN or NBA

Even though this move I support I can't help but think of the hypocrisy when the NBA continues to play regular season games in China. This tells me that this was a move for PR purposes, rather than any principle that the NBA is trying to support.
