NBA Regular Season 2017-18 |OT| KD's chip, IT's hip, LeBron's Sinking Ship

Lakers will start to improve when they realise that Lonzo is a SG and not a PG. I wouldn't read much into this loss.
That's really not true.

If Lonzo had been drafted by the Sixers, it might've been sorta true, with Simmons playing point guard, especially in half-court sets, Lonzo using his 3 pt shot and ability to play off-ball often, and the crazy passing between the two making for a dynamic offense. In that situation, he might've played SG on a decent number of possessions.

Ingram has had a terrible game but at the very least I like how he keeps attacking the basket. Didn't see that much at all from him last season. Not sure he'll ever get all that much bigger so he's going to need to learn how to use his length to finish around the basket at a better clip.

Even with positionless basketball skillsets still matter.

Think of it this way. In the NFL there are two types of running backs. The through the tackle every down backs, and the RB/WR hybrids that rely on getting the ball in space to be most effective. To me Lonzo is the NBA equivalent of an RB/WR hybrid aka a SG.

Traditionally PGs primarily responsibility is to instigate the offense against a set defense while Lonzo is best at recieving the ball in motion/space against a rotating defense.

Honestly, Lonzo looked least terrible out of everyone there outside of Clarkson. Everyone playing like ass. Ingram is brick city, Lopez with no rebounds and sitting at the wing, everyone missing shots and turning the ball over.

Welp, the pick-up game is almost over.

If Ball would have swallowed his pride and played the 2, he could be on the Sixers right now! Simmons/Ball would be the funnest backcourt in the NBA, but Zo had to go and ruin it.

He will do plenty of that in Walton's offense and he's decent off the ball, but his number one skill set is his vision and passing. You want the ball in his hands to maximize his abilities.

Glad I fell asleep and didn't have to watch the Clippers blow out the Lakers last night.

Watching Bev school Lonzo (or anyone) is a delight

Westbrook, Curry, Harden, Wall, Kyrie, and several other guards are going to shred Lonzo to pieces, I almost feel bad for him :(

Lonzo's next few matchups:

Bledsoe, Holiday, Wall, Lowry, and Rubio.

None of those sound like fun offensive match-ups.

Just catching up now. Teodosic may be a European grand master or whatever, but he's got that Peyton Manning arm strength. These floaty passes aren't gonna work too well. Second, where's Decker? Third, Cory Brewer in 2017?

I still think that CP3 and Harden will be a great fucking pair.

That being said, can't deny that the Clippers are indeed a PRIME Ewing Theory team.

Those guys ain't gonna be wasting energy playing D like Beverly. They are going to torch him, but they torch most everyone, that's why they are who they are. Hell most of them are slugs on defense.

Yup, that being said, Bledsoe is/was good on defense (although his team is trash at it), Holiday is a great defensive guard, Wall is great when he tries (and he takes things personally, which he will), Lowry is great on defense, and Rubio + the rest of that fucking Jazz defense is a death sentence.

These first few games won't be pretty.

Holy shit, I am just now seeing that dunk by Griffin. Why he do my boy Randle like that? Savage.

Edit: Another holy shit. Why did Beverly bully Lonzo like that? Damn.

Welp, I enjoyed Bev preying on Lonzo, reminds me of the scene from Troy when Orlando Bloom is getting his ass kicked:

Laker chances at Lebron looking dire 1 game in. No Kyrie, no number 1 to trade for Love.

Sure. But his vision and passing is most useful against a defense mid rotation/in transition since it allows Lonzo to thread passes that almost no one else could make. Thats why its better that ball play SG and another PG (say Ennis) can be the person who breaks down the defense before finding Lonzo.

Aditionally Lonzo will get better at moving off the ball to get into position to recieve and make these passes.

He and Blake just weren't that compatible. Blake does best when the offense runs through him, while CP3 is best at evenly distributing the ball around. I don't think he's a great fit with Houston either, honestly, though I think the Rockets probably improved overall.

Clippers guard Patrick Beverly screamed outside locker room, "Weak ass m****** f******. Bring him out on the court with me and i I will tear his ass up," It's presumed Beverly is talking about Lakers rookie guard Lonzo Ball.

I love this.

29 min 3 points and 4 assists off of 1/6 shooting

That’s damn near the worst numbers offensively in the game. As bad as Ingram did he still put up 12 points and 4 assists

Lonzos debut was ass let’s be real

He wasn't looking to score, and a lot of good feeds he made were bricked. It wasn't a good game by any stretch, but it wasn't terrible either.

Man Rivers and Beverly were going at Lonzo on the defensive end. Just getting up into him.

Next game is against the Suns. Fuck the excuses, Lakers better show some promise against the Suns.
