@Ronnie2K Ronnie 2K 2K12
@Ceno_Kross Informed team that people want the Reset Games option inserted but may not be possible cause it wasn't originally built that way

So Online Association is fundamentally broken and can't be fixed? Fuck this game.

I think VC have pretty much proven that even if you've been doing online console sports games for a decade and longer than pretty much anyone else you can still have no clue what the fuck you're doing.

It's terribly sad to remember NBA 2k1 on Dreamcast working online, I had several memorable matches on 2k1 and 2k2. On dialup.

In 2001.

WTF

So... it's looking like the general consensus is that this game is ass. Should I just pick up 2k11? I remember everyone jizzing over that when it came out.

The actual gameplay is great IMHO. I don't play online (partially because it's always been shitty), so I didn't have any expectations of that working. We need to lockout to end so rosters can get updated and rookies can join, but otherwise I'm happy with my purchase.

Online Association was too good to be true.

Some other dude on twitter asked why does Online Association allow you to play 40 seasons but you can only get through 10 seasons of 82 games before 2k13 would be out.

Ronnie's response was if you intend to go 40 seasons why play 82 games.

My response is why give people the option if they cant do it?

It's the story of 2k, giving you what you want how they want you to play it. Let the user decide? Not in 2k's manual.

I'm liking this 10x more than 2k11. Feels way smoother.

I am different, still adjusting to it. What has caught me off guard is the momentum and my player seems to be able to lose the ball of the dribble/leg more than in 2k11. There is slight variation in free throw too

Exactly, it sucks.

My Player. Want to be a D-League guy trying to make the league? Make teams through training camp? Have to go back to 2K10 sorry, but then you don't have the draft and stuff.

They reconfigure the drills every year. If you don't want to bother with the press conferences you can't do anything about it. Having to sit through the entire draft until you're picked. Adding in caps to the ratings. Limiting the minutes to five per quarter back when 2K10 first came out. Or last year when it would play you 30+ minutes no matter what. Summer league is gone now, you can't see player of the game/signature highlights, etc.

They just don't add things or give you options, they take away stuff that worked fine.

I may be blind but have they really scraped the dunk contest and 3pt shooting contest?
Not that I actually miss it but it was cool to jump in occasionally.
Why would they get rid of it, most importantly why did no reviewer mention this.
I'm sorry but you can't say that NBA2k12 is the best basketball gamer ever if you just axe stuff.

The gameplay feels much better but that's about it. They intentionally axe stuff and make things worse so that next year they can be all like it's back and better than ever praising it as the second coming.

Well that depends. The gameplay definitely isn't ass. Best ever for 2K I think. If you play mostly offline then I'd say get it. But it sounds like online is busted as hell, so if you're into that then I'd wait a while.

Oh nice free DLC....

Really, they fucked this game up big time, I'll never buy sports games b2b again. It didn't work out with Fifa and it didn't work out here.

So graphics wise is this better on high end PC or PS3?

This is a joke post right?

Lighting....better on PS3.

But if you've got the juice, a 360 controller and you don't plan on playing online...PC by a long shot. Graphics are simply going to look better. If 2k hadn't F'ed up the lighting...

2k12 looks great on PC, even before mods. If you have a decent setup, I'd recommend rolling with 4x SuperSampling through your GFX Drivers.

Is the lighting really better on PS3? I honestly don't see the prob. with graphics on the PC version this year.

PS3 version and PC version(360 version is better than both out the box) look very similar in lighting. That will change once the photomods start coming out.

Yeah I was asking because of the whole lighting model thing, but it sounds like I should get the PC version. I have a 2600k and a 580. I do agree that the 360 controller is preferable for bball games.

Cool thanks for the advice. Hopefully they get the online mode working, I liked the one where you played with 5 online players vs 5 online players, even though the netcode made it unbearable most of the time.

just bought it on Steam, lol at the crappy little picture of Jordan in the library icon.

I haven't played a NBA2K game since 2K8. Is the learning curve going to be vastly different than the last 2K game I played? And also, should I get this now, or wait?

As Zep notes, there's an effect on the 360 that is not on the PS3 nor PC. There is a mild shadowing thing on the consoles that's not on PC but as has been discussed for a couple versions now the other advantages on the PC make it the true graphic whore version.

If you don't give a shit about online, PC is the way to go, half the price, offline feature complete, high resolution and mods.

Just don't expect timely patches or a functional online!

They won't, it's been terrible since 2K10, and considering they can't even get consoles working properly, the three guys working on the PC version don't have a chance.

Yeah, it's become more complex, but you can still get by with the basic buttons. For the second question, depends on if you care about the lockout and rookies. If you just want to get in and play basketball offline, no need to wait.

Anyone tried 3d on the pc version? I actually thought the 3d on the ps3 vers?on had potential, even with the resolution drop... on a good pc I'm hoping it will be really nice.

Also interested in the mods, a college bball mod would be great. What other kinds of things do the do with mods in this game.

It is, it is sick, I love the new post gameplay but overall the jump from 2k11 isn't worth the money imo. Maybe I'm spoiled because 2k11 was my first game in the series but I was amazed at the content it offers. A week prior to the 2k11 release I bought 2k10 for cheap and loved the dunk contest, 2k11's dunk contest got subsequently worse with splitscreen and in 2k12 it's gone altogether :/

I really want to play 2k12 just for the noticeable improvement jumps in animations and character models...

...but no rookies and a predictably broken online system is reminding me it's not even worth half its price right now. I wonder if I can get my fix through a weekend rental.

Player models all look like they're covered in grease in the PC version. I'm sure it'll be fixed by the modding community though.

...until your team trades your starting all-star power forward for 2 back-up point guards

I haven't bought one of these since 2k3 (but a friend did bring over 2k10 a few times) and I've been freaking loving it. I didn't know much about it besides old teams being in it and thats been my favorite part. I didn't know there was anything wrong with it until I came on here so that sucks..

My Player is so fun. Though I got drafted by Detroit and and we suck, 4 and 8 right now, second worst in the Eastern conference.

so i took 2k12 for a spin online just to see what all the hubbub was about...

all i have to say is that VC should be fucking ashamed and embarrassed to put the game out with the online in such a catastrophic state.

If you don't care about online, then get it. From a gameplay perspective, it is better than 2K11 and most issues can be fixed via sliders.

Are there recommended sliders available for download already?

speaking of sliders, I'm about to fire this up for the first time. I don't even want to think about how long it's going to take to tweak it to my liking.

I was a 3 pt specialist PG drafted seventh by the Kings, requested a trade to the Heat, got traded with DeMarcus Cousins for LeBron. lol.

It's kind of annoying how the only teams you can really get with unless you say NO to all of them are the Kings, Pistons, Wizards, Rockets, Jazz, Pacers, or Bobcats, Suns, or Sixers.

I loved and played the crap out of 2k11, but I buy sports titles on every other year cycles. I hope my wait for 2k13 gets me Reggie Miller and Charles Barkley.

Come on 2K, put em' in and I'll pre-order the game right then and there.

Word is that Barkley and Miller wanted an astronomical amount of money to get put in the game, and both sides couldn't reach an agreement in time for them to be put in the game. Money well spent, I'd say. But oh well.

I agree. I hope they get it sorted out. 90's NBA basketball was the bees knees.

Haha, as long as it's you that posted it there. I didn't want some random guy over there stealing it from you.

You know, if you ever got the itch to make any more of these, a Larry Bird one would be nice.
