NCAA Men's College Basketball 2012-2013 Season |OT|

Haha, I always get angry watching him play, but he's probably not that bad of a guy. Just bugs me (like pretty much everyone on the Heat I guess).

So UCF is getting a new basketball court delivered today. For some reason they have been sending out mail packets to random media and celebrities and the court had a police escort on campus today during delivery.

UCF put out a nice mockup a couple months ago of the design, but they have been letting out hints that the design has changed. Plus they had more time to think because the American Athletic Conference logos took forever to become finalized.

I'm preparing myself for a black basketball court. Must be that new arena sponsorship paying out already.

man if this goes south, PJ is going to go from one of the most loved UNC players to one of the most hated in the blink of an eye.

The NCAA has opened an investigation into North Carolina guard PJ Hairston’s connection with NBA agent Rodney Blackstock, Big Lead Sports has learned.
....
But earlier this month, Hairston was arrested with two friends in nearby Durham when a traffic stop turned up a small amount of marijuana. Later, a gun was found outside the car. The vehicle Hairston was driving was a 2013 GMC Yukon, but neither the rental agency nor the police are willing to reveal the name of the renter.

Is Blackstock the man who rented the Yukon? Right now, the only people who know the answer to that are Hertz, the police, the University of North Carolina and possibly, the NCAA.

If Blackstock is linked to the vehicle, it could potentially be a damaging blow to his eligibility in 2013-2014 – according to the NBA Players Association, Blackstock is a certified agent.

The agency and the police don't want to reveal the name associated with the Yukon rental...? Huh? Who could be on there, Mark Emmert himself?

Seems like that'd be a definitive way to clear all this up. If the kid is innocent and should be eligible, release the name and save him the headache. If not, release the name and save the UNC fans from having to find out closer to the season.

PJ man, smh.

But some of the "reporting" in that article is hilarious.

Hairston, like Blackstock, is from Greensboro, and a source tells Big Lead Sports the two have known each other for years, and became much closer last year when Hairston emerged as North Carolina’s best player.

Hairston’s mother and Blackstock are friends on Facebook, and up until recently, there was a photo of them together at the Maui Invitational.

They're from the same city and he knows PJ's mama? Wrap it up here fellas, he's guilty as a mafucka.

Wiljter isn't going to Duke, we are just so desperate for a big that any will do, but we're in the lead for Okafor anyway for next year, don't need Wiljter. He's tailor made for Gonzaga anyway.

The block/charge call has been changed, sliding now illegal.

Moving forward, the NCAA says "a defensive player is not permitted to move into the path of an offensive player once he has started his upward motion with the ball to attempt a field goal or pass." If the defensive player is not in legal guarding position by this time, it should be called a blocking foul.

The old rule stated that the defender had to be in legal guarding position by the time the offensive player lifted off the floor.

The men's basketball rules committee believe the new block/charge rule will allow for more offensive freedom, provide clarity for officials in making this difficult call and enhance the balance between offense and defense.

The committee also asked officials to call a set of personal fouls with consistency, hoping to open up the game a bit more and allow for more scoring (on the heels of a historically low-scoring season). Here are the fouls the committee stressed that officials make:
When a defensive player keeps a hand or forearm on an opponent;
When a defensive player puts two hands on an opponent;
When a defensive player continually jabs by extending his arm(s) and placing a hand or forearm on the opponent;
When a player uses an arm bar to impede the progress of an opponent.

Wrap it up fellas, Duke is dead.

thank you based god. i couldn't suffer through another year of the unwatchable dreck college basketball has become. hopefully this will make things more offense-friendly.

Someone explain to me the difference between upward motion and jumping.

The rule changes around handchecking should help, though.

I interpret it as the defender has to be set in position by the time the offensive player picks up his dribble and starts a gather.

As opposed to previous years where the defender only had to be set by the time the offensive player's feet were off the floor.

But with Kelly gone, we down to only one flopper in Jiggy Hairston. But I guess like sith lords, there is another. I'm guessing robocop takes the mantle.

Nope Hairston's flopping days are over.

Well all the experts said Hairston would be a contender for ACC POTY and surely they weren't talking about PJ and his legal/booster trouble.

Rodney Hood has sustained an achilles injury that early reports suggest is just a pull or strain and not a tear. If its a tear, the season is kerflushed again by injury.

Now I want KU to play Ohio St again just to see how this new rule work on Craft.

Honestly, I don't know how he can operate anymore.

This rule is racist against crafty and cerebral players.

Marshall's already hurt again, now this.

If its a tear, that's yet another season (3rd since 2011) that gets sunk by an injury.

NC Pro-Am rosters are out.

glad they let HS players in it again.

Shame, I just left Durham. I could've checked it out.

Not a bad draft night for Kentucky. Noel's slide was unfortunate, but 6th to Philly ain't the worst outcome ever. And Archie Goodwin actually slipped into the first round with the Suns and then was traded to my Warriors! Wild man, will be awesome to see him play next year. I think it's a decent move, he'll be able to give Golden State some good offensive minutes off the bench.

But how about Myck Kabonga and CJ Leslie going undrafted? Damn. I don't really follow Texas, but I remember Myck having decent hype when he first got to college. As for Leslie, guess it just continues the trend for NC State lately. Definitely a disappointing year for them.

That's awesome, though ESPN gets even worse than before. Raftery with Sean McDonough and Jay Bilas was an awesome combo. Everyone else mostly sucks.

But yeah, Gus and Raftery on Fox should be amazing.

Wait what? When did this happen?

Plumlee to the Nets where KG will back him up, Kelly to the Lakers where Kobe will defer, and I think the Celtics went ahead and used next year's draft pick on Josh Hairston sort of like they drafted Larry Bird a year early in 78.

Damn, scratch that. Warriors ended up sending Archie Goodwin to Phoenix. ESPN reported it wrong or something.

Bummer. Would have liked to see him at Golden State. Oh well.

They went through it right before the pick saying it had been traded OKC -> GSW -> PHX, but someone might have said it wrong later. Pretty crafty that they traded in and then went back few spots picking up some cash along the way as they knew they could still get who they wanted.

So guys, what can you tell me about Reggie Bullock?

Is he going to be a good pro?

He has the ideal size to be the 3 and D player. Was solid with UNC on defense, good shooter. Not explosive but not a schlub either. Turns out huckleberry's fears about "nobody pickin' that ther kid in tha furst raown" were exaggerated, but things usually are with Roy Williams.

Thanks.

I hope he'll be a good role player for the Clips. I think he'll be in a pretty good position with CP3 setting him up a lot.

lol way to twist Roy's words. He was concerned because everyone of his connections told him RB was a borderline late first round/early second round pick, including the NBA Draft Evaluation Committee. And he got picked 25, so uh, exactly correct.

that Roy is so fucking selfish. how dare he worry about his players!

Roy said:
“I am thrilled, just absolutely thrilled for the young man. I’m as ecstatic as I could possibly be. I spoke to Reggie just moments after he was selected and he’s so happy and excited. He really did a great job throughout the pre-draft process with his workouts and interviews, especially with the Clippers.

Everyone knows by now that I was a bit scared initially about his decision to enter the draft because the NBA people that I spoke to said he was a borderline first or second round pick. Most of them told me they thought he would go in the top of the second round, including the NBA evaluation committee. So that was the cause of my concern for someone I care so much about. But the Clippers selecting Reggie in the first round shows everyone how well he performed under pressure in the pre-draft workouts. I take my hat off to him. He earned that first round pick.

He’s going to play for an outstanding coach in Doc Rivers, a friend of mine. Doc’s going to do great things with the Clippers and I am just thrilled that Reggie is going to get a chance to be part of that success.”
