Nearly 90% of Hellblade 2 Xbox Players Haven't Completed it's Story

Most AAA games have a well designed first two hours before they go to shit.

Hellblade 2 doesn't seem to have 15 minutes.

These people can't do their jobs. They keep on taking more and more money and just wasting it. When will this BS end?

It's a niche game on Gamepass with outstanding graphics. I'd imagine a ton of people played it to just look at the shiny graphics and then logged off within the first hour.

I guess I really am the exception. I finished it in 3 sessions. Loved it.

Too many fucking puzzles though I just skipped followed youtube walkthroughs for the annoying ones.

Fuck puzzles in games. Make them skippable. They are not fun

More to the point: People play and complete games they buy. The act of buying implies a level of commitment that simply isn't seen when you subscribe to a service. This is called the Netflix Effect in Hollywood, where people rarely finish TV shows and even 2 hour long movies after the shift to streaming.
Ahhhh well said

I find that had to believe as it look me less than 5 hours. It's short enough to play through even if you don't particularly like it. Mind you, some people have such low attention spans.

Out of curiosity, I checked Steam achievements and they seem a bit better, but looks like only 37% of players completed the game. That said, the trend of people bailing on playing further is quite noticeable

You'll tend to play more if you bought the game. It is human nature. About the 40% is the usual for narrative stories.

I imagine Ninja Theory will be repurposed as a studio that helps other MS studios with motion capture. The real reason they were bought.

meet the new 'rules of engagement'...

Combat is boring, traversal is boring, story is boring, voices are annoying.
Just add great looking to this and this is the best summary of the game.

I'm not even joking.

The voices almost made me quit when climbing up the hill at the beginning.

Yes, absolutely fantastic looking game...though I was looking for the Chromatic Aberration toggle in the settings...it does not exist.

It is very slow, and gameplay wise I thought it was worse than the first one, but it is bearable (even interesting at times) in small sessions.

14% have unlocked the final achievement on Xbox.

Seems pretty standard to me for a single player game. Not many people have the patience to complete a game, let alone one as slow as this.

I'm still glad I played it - some of the set pieces and fights towards the end were worth the trudging.

I quit after that first big dude.
I can't imagine keep walking in a straight line and doing these lame ass fighting for another few hours.

It was super fucking boring. I only got about an hour in of nothing much happening, and that super annoying constant voices in her head thing did it for me.

Imagine working on a game for 5 to 7 years, it ending up being 6 hours long and 90% of players still not even bothering to finish it.

Devastating for morale. How do you even get up out of bed in the morning after news like that?

Played 1 hour and most of that 1 hour was running around and firing up photomode to get close ups in different lighting conditions.

Never went back since. Game bores me to tears. Pretty to look at though.

I think I'm up to the 3rd act.
Looks and sounds amazing, an absolute master piece of a game.
But I'm busy playing other things atm, will finish it one day

Many people tried the game in gamepass just to see the graphics. The moment they saw want they wanted, the awe dissappeared and people ditched the game.

The only gamers who finished were the ones who actually wanted to play it, like myself. That happens when you try to create something that is more a visual graphical marvel than an actual game.

Horizon FW sold really well and that shit is boring as fuck while looking extremely good.
Speak for yourself, it plays better than the first game. Hated the story, finished the game due to the gameplay (no need to press L3 to sprint and gyro aiming FTW).

I played a couple hours of the first one. I couldn't stand locating glyphs. The fighting was blah. I don't think I will play this one.

It has only been a week or so.
That said, look at the completion ratio of something like Pentiment or Pscyhonauts 2. Supposedly great games. Been a while I checked, but I doubt it's improved much.
It's like a 6-hour game. Game of this year 2024.

I got the first achievement and noped out. Having the whispers in my ears the entire time was incredibly annoying. It was my most anticipated game for years and it's now the 2nd biggest disappointment to me only next to the new Forza Motorsport.
How dare you ignore Starfield! Shame!

I just didnt like the combat, at all. Ninja Theory started out excellent with Heavenly Sword, Enslaved, and DmC, they excelled at making games with great combat. Good graphics and a decent story can't save this linear game with slow, shallow combat. It just isnt fun.
