I don't know about the majority of people but i personally have a fucking hard time returning to PS1-like graphics. Even if it's in a small screen.
(i also have quite a hard time to return to some PS1 games too mind you)

What the fuck is the point of this?!

ATTENTION EA: port Beetle Adventure Racing with a graphic upgrade! I would buy it in a second.

Am I missing something? It's the DS. What were you expecting?

If this was targeted at me directly or not, i precise my position:
I never expected more, it's just constatation. ;)

DS damage control??

Come on, be realistic- the 'laughing face' responses are most likely due to comparisons with the NfS PSP game... in which case DS version just looks silly and dated.

Did you REALLY think there wouldn't be any of those in this thread?

This runs at 60fps too right? How many PS1/N64 racers managed that?

-F-Zero X
-Ridge Racer Hi-Spec
-Rapid Racer

...anything else?

You sure this runs at 60 fps? Where did you read that? If true, I'd be quite a bit more impressed. It's just that...a lot of DS reviews, previews, and reports have stated that certain games run at 60 fps...yet none of those particular titles did. If this DOES actually run at 60 fps, though, I'd say it looks really good for DS.

R4 didn't run at 60fps??

R4 did not run at 60 fps.

There was an interview with an EA Canada rep who made special mention of it. They're pretty proud of the engine actually.

looks awful.

Did PSX and N64 really look that bad? Been so long since I've played either.

Well, if that really is the case, I'm impressed. That would make this version of NFSU2 the ONLY version that actually runs at 60 fps. Not even the PC version of NFSU2 runs at 60 fps...even when using extremely high-end rigs.

Obviously, this looks much worse, but the 60 fps is really nice.

Visuals like that - in the palm of your hand - for $29 ?? and 60fps too, doesn't seem too bad...

hell I don't give a shyt about NFSU --- but I'd rather have it on my DS than my PSP if I can doodle on my cars

On an unrelated note, I finally found Racing Gears Advance.

Those top down isometric graphics actually brought a smile to my face. But I'm a happy guy anyway, FWIW.

I don't get it. These screens look quite good 2 me. Maybe my expectations were lower than the rest of u, I don't know.

The Canadian DS commercials show this game running on the DS. It doesn't look all that bad.

I don't care for NFS:U, but screenshots for all systems this gen don't really do the games justice.

:lol :lol :lol

WTF?!! If I didn't know any better, I'd say this looks like a DS game! WTF?!!

Seriously, though, probably the best 3D yet seen on the DS. I'm pretty impressed.

wow, looks pretty good. sure not as good as PSP games, but no one was expecting that. 60FPS, and not to mention DS games for some reason ALWAYS look better in motion. I may get this one.

Doesn't actually look bad imo (not that I'd spend money for it), but somehow all screens look the same to me...since the first ones.

That looks pretty damn good for the DS. I'd pick it up if I didn't hate the NFS Underground theme so much.

From what I've seen from my DS and my PSP --- 60fps looks like gold on the DS, there's too much ghosting on the PSP for it to make any bit of difference ---- especially in the backgrounds, 60fps looks like 30 on my PSP...

Asphault looked poopy from screens -- but on 60fps DS it looks bright and buttery smooth.

Eh? I honestly don't see what's so BAD about these DS screens.

Honestly, has 90% of all gamers turned into gfx-whores?
I myself started gaming on a C64 aback in 1986 (I know it was 4 years after the initial release, but I just got at the age of gaming in '86: 4 years old). From that era, I learned that some of the best games do NOT have the best graphics. Take Tetris from the GameBoy (Mono)... Isn't that considered to be one of the best games ever made?
Another example: Zookeeper. Currently seen as a great 'puzzle' game by many, but is that caused by the graphics? I think not. Heck: I know it's not.

It looks like a whole lot of people are spoiled with nowadays' graphics and appraised these to their 'standards'. I admit the PSP's NFS:Rivals looks good, I admit Ridge Racers on the PSP looks amazing, I know that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit on the PC makes these screens look cheap. Fact is that the DS isn't a PSP, nor an XBox, an N64, a PC, a GameCube, a Playstation 2 (or One) or anything else. It's a Nintendo DS!

Didn't a Japanese magazin test NFSU:Rivals and say that its framerate isn't stable ? Had something like that in my mind...

This member speaks the truth! :)

I wonder if people complained this much about graphics when the Game Gear and Game Boy were out at the same time.. at least the PSP and DS are both in color.. we should be very happy about that.. :lol

You better believe it.

But when you not only get a better all around unit, AND the better games, what choice is there really. Aside from pom poms and arguments heh.
