Both Haikyu and Gundam IBO in the top 10! even though Haikyu is a little low GAF as good taste.

In hindsight 2015 was pretty great!

I remember seeing your posts as it was ongoing. I feel like such an outsider here but I much preferred it to S1 (which I liked a lot in the first place). Definitely room for improvement but I picked up pretty much everything it put down.

I watched both seasons back to back and I definitely found Insight to be better. It had room for improvement for sure, but it was trying to do much more interesting stuff than season 1 did imo.

A pretty expected list. 2015 was pretty solid, but 2016 is possibly shaping up into something interesting, at least with what I've seen of previews.

I guess the question now is where Diamond is Unbreakable will land on the 2016 list. Gotta get that five-peat.

Wow, the Top 3 is probably the same Top 3 I would have picked had I voted. Great choices community!

It would be somewhat pointless to list "overlooked" shows from 2015 and not just have it be something like my list. Even from shows I'm not really that fond of or haven't watched it'd be nice to see stuff like Sora ga Seiyuu, Koufuku Graffiti, Concrete Revolutio, Garo, Osomatsu, Junketsu no Maria, or maybe even garbage like BBB. Not only does the compiled GAF list lack projects that exude a certain sense of creativity, but they also seem to target a very specific demographic. That's probably what strikes me the most, is the lack of diversity in the tone these shows sell. This is probably the first year where there are just no comedy shows listed in the top ten. Everything is self-serious to a degree, and I can't really say a single show on the list is really demanding of the audience to really offer more than a modicum of intelligent thought.

How did Shirobako lack creativity?

Also the only comedy I saw that I thought possibly deserved to be on a Top Ten list was Hackadolls and I understand why it didn't make it.

I recounted Gundam: IBO at 212.

The same as my original count.

I decided to count it myself. (not sure how scores are calculated)
I have:
1=3
2=3
3=6
4=6 (7)
5=3
6=2
7=5
8=4 (5)
9=4 (3)
10=3
Number on left is ranking, number on right is how many times it was voted for at that ranking, and number in brackets is where the results are different than what I counted.
39 votes total.
I double checked the votes for 4th, 8th, and 9th places.
For 4th, was it possible this post was counted as a vote for 4th place? http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=190686944&postcount=14
It's in their honorable mentions, but it says 4th instead of x or something.

Good job anime-GAF. You did not fail in your duties. No DanMachi, no Punch Line, no Triage X, no Bikini Warriors.

You did me proud.

The anime has the manga ending, and since the manga ends in March it'll probably actually finish before the anime.

Wow thanks for telling me that, now I am a lot more excited for the show. I thought we were going to get a "fake" ending, then having to wait another 10 years for the manga to end.

Yeah, I was very happy to see that we are getting the real ending with the anime.

This IS one of my favourite aspects from the current Lupin series.

I think it's an entertaining show so far with a few rough episodes but his portrayal has been great so far.

Never watched a Lupin show before but yeah, Zenigata's great

Where the hell is rolling girls

You nerds really fucked up this time

Not my fault that they decided to pick the most boring characters as the MCs

If it was a Maccha Green show I totally would have voted it as no.1

What a waste

This is a sin and you know it. Punch Line was fantastic.

We had Kill la Kill top 10.... twice

Kill La Kill had more meaning and symbolism than anything on the the list this year. :l Most of the shows that one this year are shonens or dialogue-driven rather than thematic.

I'm shocked two on my list even ranked, since I just assumed everything I watched was either niche or moe shit no one cared about.

tbh I wish GAF cared more about moe shit. most of the stuff in the top 10. the fuck breh, I think people care way too much about having a story.

action animu are some of the most boring shit ever. some of the popular overcontemplative animu are boring too ;_;

Well, it doesn't help that Japanese comedy basically revolves around yelling as loud as possible.

this doesn't happen

EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!

oh

I love this tho

I think the thing that would characterize Japanese comedy over anything else would be the reliance on the straight man gimmick, which would put some people off and straight mans (well, Shinpachi at least) do tend to yell a lot.

There a bunch of comedies in the top ten - sure, they're not reference comedies like Hacka Doll, the best subgenre of comedy (and anime generally). But we shouldn't hold that against them, at least not too much.

I've heard Death Parade demands some thinking from the audience. I guess I can judge that for myself later!

If you didn't think that was one of the funniest sketches in Nichijou you're a monster.
