Im in awe, I had no idea arcade sticks were that big a deal...some of them look like works of art. Are these mostly mods, or is there a way to make your own. Stick n00b :)

Upgraded my DS stick. Like a moron I ordered 30mm black for the Start and Select. I must have gotten confused since I was also ordering 30mm Start and Select for my TE mod. Now I'm stuck with jank Hori buttons for the next few weeks. Also, gotta put a Seimitsu stick in there for completion.

Damn, looks great Yes Boss!
You're going to have to do some soldering to fit the Seimitsu stick right?

Yeah, but that is only a five-minute job. I actually use another straight Sanwa-modded EX for all my 360 shooters but I think I'm going to move to this one since it is just so cute.

I haven't changed the joystick yet because I think I prefer the Sanwa. I know everybody says Seimitsu for shooters but I keep grabbing for my standard EX...my EX-SE has since been shelved.

Cave and Hori will hopefully come out with a Mushi Futari stick later this year...sticks for shooters are way cooler than sticks for fighters!

and they're not going to be overpriced... where?

Sign up at wiialerts.com. That's how I just got my TE from Gamestop. :)

This is the first arcade stick that I've ever really owned and used. (I have a Japanese Saturn w/ stick in my basement that I've never really used).

I love it. I was having issues with fireball/dragon punch consistency with the dual shock and that went away immediately with the stick.

Great job MarkMan!

interesting. ill look into that, thanks.

glad to hear youre having a great time with your arcade stick as well. a good stick is a wonderfull thing.

i love em.

Man, every place online that I could think of that stocks buttons and sticks is not taking orders :lol

I figured I'd get the early jump on my EX stick from NCSX and get the buttons sooner then later so when it comes I can mod it from the jump. I guess not though...Oh well...

are the 360 SE's available anywhere, or will they be coming back into stock at some point?

that seems like a cheaper option for a mod project. maybe i have enough HRAPS...

edit: is the button layout on the SE's the same as the Hori layout? it looks slightly different in pics. not sure.

edit2: i just answered my own question using the wiialerts site.

im leaning towards one of these. i just want something i can mod with real parts. i can deal with the smaller base. even the EX is a fine size for me, its just too much of a pain in the ass to mod. i just want to swap out the stick and buttons and play some damn games.

I just came up on a TE thanks to noire's tip on the wiialerts site. Ah, its been long wait.

Woo! Congratulations!

Has anyone been able to get the 360 TE-stick working on a mac?

If I'm not mistaken, the Madcatz sticks are having issues with Nvidia chipsets. So if it's a new macbook/pro you might be running into that.

I have one of the older intel mac minis, so I don't think that's the problem. I've downloaded a driver that is supposed to work with xbox 360 controllers but what I gathered it doesn't work with most arcade sticks unfortunately.

Sooo my SF4 Arcade Stick SE (first batch) finally crapped out today, I guess it was just a matter of time. Left on the stick doesn't work anymore.

Call Mad Catz tech support. They'll take care of you. If you don't want to have your product sent out they can issue you a replacement part. Either way they will help you out.

Hey MarkMan, my TE stops reading directional inputs and RT (Roundhouse) after extended play and I need to unplug and reconnect to get to work normally. Can that be fixed with a simple replacement part or will I have to send the whole stick back?

Hey Mark Man, >>this is a post I had on the prvious page<< would you happen to know anything on it?

It is a good stick for what it is. It feels slightly different from the classic AES controller from my memory...just a wee bit lighter. There are a lot of reviews of the old PS2 version online but since that came out the landscape has changed considerably and you can get a Mad Catz SE and HRAP for just a bit more and have a ton more options for modification. It does hit the sweet spot for nostalgia, though.

I had planned to open mine up to see what was in it but it is sealed with a sticker. If anybody has photos of the interior please post them!

If you want close-up photos of the identical Wii version I can post them.

Try using a different breakaway cable, if that doesn't get rid of it, more than likely it may be the PCB. Contact tech support and they can help you. If you don't want to wait for them to fix it I'm sure they can send you the parts (if you're comfortable with installing things yourself).

Hi, to touch on what Yes Boss! already posted... it's a decent stock stick. Obviously it is more design driven than it is practical... But it works well for what it's intended for (Neo Geo/SNK games). Modding these can be a pain, I'll try to find pics of the inside (I remember seeing them long ago), but I don't want to try and crack mine open as it is put away in storage lol.

Yeah pics would be awesome. Also does anyone/site mention if it's snk parts or 3rd party?

My guess is third-party as a copy of the classic stick. Plastic seems softer on the buttons (see minor scratch on my first button) and the knob feels different.

I'm using a PCB from a MadCatz GameStick in my current arcade stick and have found that the 360 consistently fails to recognize it on boot. Unplugging it and plugging it back it fixes the issue, but it's kind of annoying. Odd thing is, I can boot the xbox with the guide button, but it still fails to connect. Does anyone know if this is a common problem?

I may try using a different break-away cable as per Markman's previous suggestion. If that doesn't fix it, I might switch to using an official wired pad PCB. I could use the extra space to drop in a Cthulhu.

wow that looks rreeeaaalllly nice.

For the buttons, what would you compare their feel to? Springy like happs, clacky and seemless like sanwas, a lil heavier and more of a "thud" like seimitsus, or kinda squishy like stock horry/mc buttons?

Mushy like stock Horis but they are also much louder and the are kinda floating. I dunno, I use mine for Blue's Journey (my favorite Neo-Geo game of all time) and I would not have it any other way. The stick definitely has its place but as an all-arounder you might do better in choosing something else. Fwiw, I'm getting one for the Triple to use on KoF XII. If I stay with it is another question, but that is my intention!

I'm in Sweden so it would be a bit too expensive calling support in the UK (?). I mailed them and am hoping for a response tomorrow. My big problem is that I'm leaving for Japan at the end of june and I won't be back for 6 months, so I need the stick to get back to me before then. We'll see how it goes.

Say, BlazBlue is another 4-button game. I wonder how it plays with the Neo stick.

Yeah, there is something to be said about not having too many buttons clogging up the face. I'll definitely be trying it for BlazBlue. Not sure if Hori is gonna come through for importers on the big BB PS3 stick. Not a big deal but I do like the idea of having dedicated sticks for games...makes the games a bit more special. A little over a month till new fighters arrive, Yay!

_dementia, what are you using for KoF/BB? I'm guessing you are doing PS3 for both versions of the game?

You betcha

Though I'm waiting until post-E3 shenanigans before I actually pick up a PS3

Is it me, or does the so-called headset adapter for the MadCatz SE stick leave a lot to be desired? Doesn't work at all, and I wished they used a decent plug like this stick (don't know its name).
The thing about HRAP EX is, if you don't use the included clip, the headset wire really gets in the way. Awkward location total.

Does any one know where its easy to get Sanwa buttons or arcade parts in Japan? Im in Tokyo now, but I don't know where to look.

While that might be the case, at least it'd work. With the SE stick, I only get static at best.

Got my TE at work today, brought it home, and WOW what a difference this thing makes. Makes pulling off moves effortless. It was so frustrating playing online with my EX2. I went on my first ten win streak as soon as I plugged the TE in. I highly recommend this stick, do not settle for an EX2. Only bad thing was that there was some sticky glue residue left by some tape that had been on the top. Tried scrubbing it off, and ended up with some scuff marks. Really bothers me when looking at it, but oh well, I'm not gonna be looking at the stick when I'm playing. Good job Markman, my hat is off to you.

Just double-checking before I place an order at Lizard Lick next Tuesday. Is it the LS-32 Ball Handle Joystick as seen below that I'd buy If I wanna put it in the 360 HRAP EX?

LS-32 does not fit in the HRAP3, so I'd be surprised if it fit in an EX.

Thanks, I was just going to buy what was in my EX-SE. All the others at Lizard Lick have harnesses. the LS-32 seemed like it looked the same. Maybe LL doesn't carry a replacement Seimitsu stick for the EX?? Bit confused. I'm a noob and this is the first time I'm gonna switch out the stick. I was under the impression the EX and EX-SE are similar. This is the inside of my EX-SE:

And this is the Deathsmiles stick that I want to mod with a Seimitsu stick. Anybody know which Seimitsu stick I should buy?

Judging from the mounting plate, it looks like it will fit. That "S" shaped mounting plate doesn't come in the HRAP3, as you can see here: http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/3276/3893528162e7de520a8qx3.jpg

However, the stick you're planning to mod looks like it has the same mounting plate as the one that already has an LS-32 in it. You could always just measure the distances between screw holes to make sure it fits, or just take the LS-32 out of your EX-SE temporarily to try it out. Don't be like me and buy an LS-56, only to realize afterward that the TE "universal mounting plate" isn't as universal as advertised :(

Thanks. I appreciate the help! Guess I just gotta open them both up and measure to be sure. But it looks like LS-32 is the one. The LS-32 is fairly inexpensive so If it doesn't work out then I'm not breaking the bank, at least.
