This may or may not be a good place to post this, but I have a new in box Hori Fighting Stick EX2 for the 360 (the USA Virtua Fighter 5 edition) I'm looking to sell. I bought it a year or two ago and it's just gathered dust in my closet ever since, as I don't have a 360 system yet. If anyone is interested in buying it PM me, but I don't want to let it go for any less than $40 or so. If I can't sell it for at least that, I'll just hold on to it for now.

oh, cross posted in the haul thread

Work in progress. It's wobbly as hell, but hey, it's my first attempt; I'm allowed to make mistakes. :lol
I spray painted the underside of the lexan sheet with matte black paint. It looks very nice; the black shines through the clear top for a glossy, reflective effect.

Still needs a lot of work.

What buttons are you using?

good for you, making your own stick. Did you just glue it together? I used biscuits on mine.

Well, got my HRAP3:SA last week for my PS3, and had a night and a half of SFIII and various PS2 shoot 'em ups (Thunder Force 6, Gradius 5.....) and it felt so good to use.

Unfortunately my PS3 then yellow-lighted for the second time in a month so I had to send it away for repairs.

Ass.

Anyway, the HRAP3SA is well worth the investment (10,000 yen including shipping to Tokyo) for those who live in Japan. I imagine the shipping cost from 3rd party sellers may make them rather expensive for anyone overseas though.

Where did you get your HRAP3:SA?

I would really like to order one but don't know where to start.

I have an HRAP3:SA - I bought mine from Akihabarashop.jp, though I'm sure they are all sold out by now. I checked NCS, and they are sold out as well. You might be able to try some other importer, or maybe ebay, or see if someone on SRK is selling one. Otherwise, I think they're pretty much sold out. These special HRAPs are usually pretty limited affairs.

Yea, saw 2 HRAP2: SA on ebay for $180. I know it's really pricey but I think I might dish out the money for one within a week or so. I'm super excited, yet crying at the same time.

Missed out on the SFIV stick pre-order :(

Finally stumbled upon a discounted HFS3 in my local store and bought it.
Joystick is adequate but hate the buttons.
After I look at some forums (shoryuken, neogeo) got a good PC driver for it and some modding guidelines.

Ordered some Sanwa OBSF buttons and Seimitsu LS-33 stick.
Also bought seimitsu octagonal gate and ls-56/ls-55 spring in case the default spring is too soft.

Will post result when I finished with in the following weeks.

I saw this stick on eBay. I've a question, if you might know. Would the HRAP 2 SA work fine connected to a Wii with a PS2-to-Gamecube adapter...as in no lag, all games, etc? I don't have a Wii stick solution and this one seems ideal. Mainly want it for VC, TvsC.

That should work, the ps2 to gc adapter working on the wii.

Hori also has a wii stick. Haven't heard anything about the quality of those sticks but I still think the ps2 to gc adapter should work. My only concern is comes from hearing about some sticks on the ps3 not working with ps2 games. Completely different from what you're looking into but can't be too careful when you're dealing with a big purchase.

Yeah, I've got the cheapy Wii stick as well as the cheapy NeoGeo stick. Both are fine but I'm looking for something a little better build. I did find the convertor link at SRK but the only one they mention is the Cube Joybox Pro.

And, I've got a lot PS3 HRAPs and they work with some PS2 games (played on the PS3, disc and download) but there is lag on a lot of the shmups...and sometimes the start and select don't work.

I have to disagree with you on that. I play lots of PS2 shmups on my BC PS3 with a HRAP3 and I've found no noticeable lag at all. The only trouble I've had has nothing to do with the sticks at all, and that's Gradius V locking up every so often because of imperfect BC. Damn you, BC! Even that doesn't bother me that much, and if it did, I could instead just play it on my PS2 with my HRAP2:SA.

Actually, $180 is about what it cost me in total for my HRAP2:SA with shipping from Japan back in March of last year. As long as shipping is reasonable with those, it's well worth it. Trust me, it's the best $180 gaming dollars you will ever spend. Not once have I ever regretted buying mine. It's my favorite stick out of all 3 of my HRAPs. When you take it out to play, people know you mean business. :D

When playing PS2 games on PS3 via BC. There is always lag.

:(

This is very unfortunate. Most people won't notice it as they can't sense/feel it. But it is definitely there.

I'm thinking mostly of Raiden (PS1/PS2) from the download store. It was unplayable so I had to switch to the Dualshock 3. At first I thought it was just the throw on the stick being larger but then it felt better with the controller. But, I take your opinion as I'm just a very casual shmup fan.

In any case, I'm thinking I'll get one of those HRAP2 SAs for use on my Wii and Japanese PS2. Would you be able to recommend some shmups (both NA and JP) for the Ps2 system? I'm got on the short list Espgaluda, DoDonpachi, and Thunderforce V. But looking for others.

Oh yeah, would DoDonpachi PS2 be overkill if I've already got the new 360 game coming in?

Is this the case only on the launch 20/60 gig models with full ps2 hardware, or just the later 80 gig partial software-emu backwards compatibility?

Check out Ibara if you liked Raizing's shmups. Homura is awesome. Shikigami no Shiro II is also great if you haven't played it on Dreamcast, PC, GCN or Xbox already :P

Possibly, but the PS2 port displays true low res (240p) just like the arcade game. This is something the 360 would never be able to do.

Asked this in the SF4 official thread but I don't think I got an answer:

I was under the assumption that the TE stick was limited run while the normal SF4 fightstick was going to be available readily even after launch. Am I wrong in assuming so?

Limited initial run. Madcatz are waiting to see what demand is like before making more I guess.

You just do (at a minimum) 480p with each line doubled. You can literally do pure line doubling if you are one of those people who don't like filtering. This is the HD era. I personally don't know a single person using a 360 on a 480i TV (240p is a hack on 480i and requires a 480i set) so I can't imagine any of them caring if a PS2 can render a game more like the arcade on a 480i set. I'm sure such people who do care exist, but they aren't really relevant to the HD users.

Ok 1 last post about this.

The guys working at the store VideogameCentral.com have a youtube show and also had a podcast/live broadcast.

They are knowledgeable and also get great imported items in the store.

To view the videos go here http://www.youtube.com/user/videogamecentral

My god, do you work for them? We get it, THEY AREN'T A SCAM SITE.

Nope, dont work for them.

I dont believe that reaction was necessary. I was reading back a few pages and people accused them of scamming them when they havent done a single thing wrong (yet).

Internet rage sickens me sometimes.

Not to be that guy, but.. I started listening to an episode of their podcast and it was kind of off-putting when they were talking about "arcade pads" (what does that even mean?) but I shut it off when they said that Hori made the Vewlix cab.

I mean, really now?

Thanks for the suggestions.

Also, Amazon is now shipping the HRAP EX.

So do we have any idea what is going on with the TE sticks? Amazon haven't commented on the supply/demand issue.

Assuming my preorder isn't honored, what stick advice would you give to someone who knows and loves the quality of Sanwa-parts but has no real knowledge or skill with electronics? Any good alternatives for either console? Any mods I can do without any soldering and so forth?
