FUCK!!!

For some reason my PS3 stopped recognizing my HRAP2:SA!

I plug in it via the USB adapter and it just fails to register at all despite the fact it was working perfectly this morning!
My laptop still recognizes it perfectly though everytime I plug it in

Any ideas why this would happen?

I was hoping my HRAP2 was gonna be used with everything I owned and wouldn't have to buy a stick specifically for my PStriple =(

it doesn't seem to have a PS button. are you sure you don't have another controller taking slot 1? try to remember the order in which you plugged it in when it worked. turn on PS3 at console unit and plug in controller w/adapter? turn on ps3 with wireless controller? etc etc

Man, if it wasn't for this thread, I wouldn't have even known Gamestop shipped the TE sticks out. This is my first online order through them, and I figured I would have gotten an e-mail, saying they shipped my order. When I read that you guys were already getting your sticks, I logged-in to my GS account, check my order, and almost had a stroke when it said my order was "closed". I thought it meant it was cancelled, until I clicked on the actual order number, and saw that it was shipped. Woohoo!

Funny thing is that, even though I'll be getting it way before I was expecting to, I'm feeling even more impatient, knowing it's in transit.

Yeah I tried these but none worked.

-Tried powercycling the system several times

-disconnecting and reconnecting

-checking the pins and making sure they weren't bent

-checked to make sure static electricity didn't fry anything (I live in Alaska). Still works fine on my PS2 and PC

...So yeah, I'm pretty sad right now =(

Ball or bat?

what's better? is it just personal preference? I would think I would like a bat better, but everyone i see posting thier arcade sticks has a ball....so i would be fine with either one

I can just replace the ball on the stock joystick that comes with the hrap3, right? If I wanted to just replace the ball of my hrap3, should i buy the SANWA JB-35 or SANWA JB-45?? Do both fit or would only one of these fit?

Yes, the stock joystick on the HRAP3 is actually a Sanwa JLF (which, while technically "stock", is a damn fine stick!), so any ball or bat top that you see here that specifically says it's compatible with a Sanwa JLF, you're golden. There are a few that aren't compatible out of the box, but require a small adaptor that they also sell on that site.

Perfect. Thanks. I see you can also put a seimitsu ball to replace the stock ball

I had no idea you were playing with the Otomedius stick.

If I had one I'd build my own shrine dedicated it and never remove it from it's box.

One of these days all of us in this thread should post our sticks. I think I only have 8 or 9, so I'm probably on the low end in relation to how much time I spend here :lol

I've only got seven sticks. Enough to last me the generation to be sure, but I've got four more arriving by the time Street Fighter ships. I'll take a picture at the end of the month. Not a bad start for a newbie. I'm a lapsed shmup fan who stopped playing the genre during the mid nineties so I'm having a ball discovering all the new hardware and shooting games.

Oh yeah, play-asia still has the Oto stick but it's a bit crazily priced.

I only have a couple... I definitely should have more considering my tag... :lol

I'd take pics but do you know how long it would take to move all those boxes?

Quick question about the regular Mad Catz fightstick - can the actual stick be swapped out easily enough as well? If so, can anyone recommend a Sanwa or Seimitsu stick with ball top, that would do the trick?

Also, will the Sanwa OBSF-30 buttons fit?

Thanks in advance :)

So, Gaf, i'm thinking about getting this :

Probably best to avoid that one unless you don't mind soldering it at some point in future.

Hot damn!

Play-asia shipped my HRAP SF IV stick early. Not quite as cool as the tourney but one for the collection. I've got six white and two black sanwa buttons waiting so it will mimic my forthcoming tourney sticks.

Anybody else getting one in? I'm sure MarkMan has one arriving.

Thanks, so, what would you suggest for a similar price (i'd get the hori one for about 60 euros/80 dollars)?

Madcatz standard SF4 stick. It should be about the same price and is way easier to modify or repair.

I have one. I couldn't tell you how reliable it is because I haven't been using it very much. I have only tried it in battle fantasia, but that's not a very demanding game so I am waiting until SF4 is out before I decide if it's good enough or if I have to stick with my homemade PS2 stick.

The only thing I can tell you right now is that playing with the right 6 buttons feels awkward. but you can change your config to play with the left six buttons and it feels just fine.

Wooo!

PLAYSTATION 3 STREET FIGHTER I - PS3 1 1 $149.99 Shipped N/A

Now I just want my tracking number, because I need to know what day to be "sick." LOL.

Have have a noob question for some of you prostars.
What is the difference between the Hori Real Arcade Pro.EX and the Hori Real Arcade Pro. EX-SE?

And what is the general feeling about the EX?

The EX contains a stick from Sanwa and proprietary Hori buttons (which can easily be replaced with Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons) while the EX-SE comes with a Seimitsu stick and buttons preinstalled.

They're both fine sticks.

In addition to what Lee N said, Sanwa is generally preferred for fighters and Seimitsu is generally preferred for shmups. Seimitsu sticks have a tighter throw than Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons don't activate as easily as Sanwa. It's down to your personal preference.

If you're a collector, the Seimitsu (EX SE) will generally be more scarce than the regular HRAP EX.

So with that said (for your personal taste) you would get the Mad Catz TE Stick rather then the Hori's? Or would you get a Hori and switch out the buttons?

I am not a collector, I just want the best experience possible for the best price available.

Tough call if I had to go one way or the other. If I swapped the stock Hori buttons on an HRAP for Sanwa to get comparable performance to the TE, the TE would still have more features and cord storage.

Aesthetically, I like HRAPs a little more than the FSTE, even if the design is getting a bit stale. It's cheaper too, so if I had to go one way, it'd be HRAP. As you mentioned; best experience for the price.

What's the throw? Is it the distance you have to move the joystick for it to register? So you don't have to move the Seimitsu as much as the Sanwa?

Hey guys. My FS Ex2 just fell onto my wooden floor and the RT button stopped to work. Is there any way to find out if the button is the defective part or the pcb ? I want to grab the chance to mod the stick with new buttons and preferably a new Stick now. Any recommondations on parts which aren t a bitch to get into an Ex2 ?

Man I'm not sure which Madcatz stick/pad to go with. I've never played a fighter with either of them outside of arcades so I don't have much experience either way. Money isn't a real big issue, so should I go with the $80 stick or the $40 pad? I'd love to have the TE stick but I'm not gonna dish out $150+ for one.

Got and EX-SE coming as well but it hasn't shipped yet. NCX says between the 6th and the 10th so it should be here sometime next week. Chomping at the bit for that one!

Where did you order you EX-SE from, and if you don't mind me asking, what did it set you back?

haha, well it seems the TE SFIV sticks have finally hit ebay.

markman was right, everyone should have preordered.

edit: wow, i thought these were post-release actual in hand units. these are peoples fucking stupid amazon.com preorders (and lord knows if all of those get filled.) unbelievable.

I notice everyone is getting the TE sticks....when is Capcom shipping there's or atleast letting people know that their order is backordered?

FUCK YES!!!! My TE stick was already attempted to be delivered, on hold with UPS to have them hold it for a same day pick up.

If your Gamestop order page doesn't have the tracking info, call their customer service line and get your tracking number!

EDIT: Picking it up tonight, WOOOOOOOOO!

Nice I pre-ordered in store, so I will stop by to see if they got them in yet.

I also picked up a HORI EX2 for 2 player, it seems decent enough. It won't get heavy play if it is only used occasionally.

So how hard is it to replace the square gate with an octogonal gate in the standard SFIV FightStick?

Do arcade cabinets traditionally use square gates or octogonal?

I guess I just want to use whatever the standard is going to be, and I don't ever remember using square gates in the past, but perhaps that was because I wasn't paying attention :lol
