Just Got my HRAP 3 Im loving it so far. But did anyone have problems with QCFx2 or Dragon punch at 1st ??

Yes, I did. I switched out the square gate for an octagonal one and haven't had trouble since.

I have a quick question and hope that someone may have a answer.

I am looking to find silent cherry switches for my arcade stick's buttons. Do they make them? or is it some thing I would have to mod?

This is the only thing I found....but wanted to see if I could just by them outright.

P.S. This is for my wife, she hates the sound of me tapping away late at night on SF. If I could remedy this...she would love me forever. :)

So if you don't find silent buttons, her love for your is a limited time offer only? :D

Man this thread is making me sad now, as I'm in a bit of a fix about my stick plans.

I enjoy DIY woodworking and electronics (I've put together a few electric guitars) so this thread got me totally hooked on the idea of putting together my own stick even though I only play a bit of fighters and shooters. The sad thing is, with SF IV on the horizon and everyone and their brother building custom sticks Lizard Lick is sold out of basically their whole stock of sticks (just JLW and LS-40s available).

So now I'm not sure, do I assemble the box and wait it out until either JLFs or LS-32s are available? In that case I'm not going to have my stick until some time after SF IV launches and I was kinda liking the idea of having a new game to play with my new stick. Or do I just go with the LS-40 or JLW and assume that I can swap in a JLF or 32 later if I want to? After all, I'm a total noob with sticks and from looking at reviews on slagcoin it appears that at least the LS-40 would be a pretty capable stick for some shmups and fighting games. It's just that from this thread it seems like JLF and LS-32s are by far the most popular and I don't want to build a stick that I'm just going to swap the stick out of right away.

Just to reply to myself (in case anyone else is looking) LizardLick is still out of JLFs but they just got in a big load of Seimitsu stuff, including LS-32-01s. I feel a little guilty laying down almost $80 on parts when I'm hardly a hardcore gamer of any type, never mind a hardcore shooter or fighter player. But I'm really thinking that I'll enjoy the process of building the stick and with good parts and a custom stick I should be able to update the PCB for new systems down the line.

you must install XBCD drivers to get the 360 version to work on a PC, its not a simple HID device
They should install automatically on Windows. I'm not sure about Mac OS or Linux, but I think they're available for download somewhere.

And all those people who sold out the PS3 CE, and PS3 Chun-Li FightPad on Amazon a month before release. :lol

They may not have manufactured the same quantity of everything on both consoles, and instead manufactured according to expected sales. I imagine this is a game that'll probably sell proportionally to install base.

Yeah, there are free drivers widely available. I have the 360 controller drivers for OSX.

cool, thanks for the tip. but i guess i'll just use the PS3 stick for my PC.

Is an LS-32 tighter than the sticks in the vshg and the Tournament edition stick. If so I may be interested in picking one of them up.

What about XP Media Center Edition?

None of my Xbox sticks work on my OS, and I get an error message when I attempt to install any XBCD drivers from microsoft's website. Is there a fix for MCE?

yes, it's tighter than the JLF

I'm not too sure. Whenever I plug in any Xbox 360 Accessory the drivers install automatically. I have Vista (lol) and my brother has XP (not sure which version). He had no problems either. I'll look to see if there's a fix for it.

I'm not sure if this will help or not considering that the poster in this forum didn't state which version of XP he had but I hope it does. Unfortunately this might only be a fix for wired controller and not wireless. Fortunately the Madcatz accessories for the 360 are wired :p.

alright, I managed to get my wired controller to work by selecting it in the Device Manager window and manually updated the drivers by selecting the exact files on the install disk. also "HID-compliant game controller" now shows up under "Human interface Devices". now the wired controller registers and works great!

unfortunately the Xbox 360 wireless adapter still doesn't work, and I can't seem to get the drivers to work, even when I select the files manually. any thoughts or ideas?

I hope it helps.

Regardless of quantities manufactured, the PS3 version was selling much more on Amazon's sales list. It was in their overall top 10, while the 360 SKU's were not.

Ordered a white bat top, bat top adapter, and octagonal gate.

You're talking about the CE? ::shrug:: I guess we'll see. I'd certainly prefer the PS3 CE - I already have a trade in place for my C. Viper for someone's Ryu :lol

I am thinking about buying a PS3 HORI Real Arcade Pro Stick 3.

Now, i bought VF5 as my first PS3 game 2 years ago and i sold it the day after since i was on a tight budget (600 euro for the console!) and it felt like R:FOM was a better first game.

I have not played many fighters before, at least not as complex as the VF series. I mostly play FPS online. Now, i wonder, should i buy a arcade stick with VF5 and then SFIV. I have not been addicted to a fighter game since SC2 and before that Tekken 3.

I mean is the difference between a stick and a d-pad so big that even if you mainly played FPS online shooters for the last 2 years, you would still get hooked on VF5 or SFIV?

yeah i love my LS-32. going to give the sanwa stick in the TE a chance, but may end up replacing it with a LS-32 too (in no hurry, as i already have a stick to play with)

judging by the avatars on this forum 90% of the people blowing crazy money on FSSE and FSTEs will go back to their Kilzones and CoDs and other fpses 2 weeks after SF4 is out.

and if you're still on a "tight budget", less of a reason to even bother

Take it from me, I bought a $250 Logitech G25 in preparation for GT5P, its now sitting in a box waiting for me to put it on eBay. Don't get swept up in the hype by spending $90 for a peripheral for a genre you're not even sure you're that into. Especially since a big time game in a genre you ARE into is coming out 2 weeks after SFIV.

Yea screw fighting games, I'm going back to my Killzones and Codz :)

SFIV got me back into fighters and arcade games. I've already bought several fighters for PS2 and I'm planning on getting more later. Fighters ftw! Oh and SHMUPS :D

My TE Stick will be used just as much on XBLA games as retail fighting games.

I'm excited to be playing TMNT with a joystick for the first time in a decade (probably more).

** CHEAP PLUG ALERT **

I just put up the first of my two reviews I'll be doing for the Mad Catz SFIV controllers, this one for the standard edition FightStick. (I'm also doing one for the FightPad; Heather, another Play staffer, has dibs on the TE stick, since she's the one doing the SFIV review.)

My review of the stick ended up clocking in at just over 3400 words, and may (or may not) be of value to you due to the perspective that I come from in the review. I've been somebody who has always liked the idea of joysticks, but who has almost never owned one, due to both not knowing what to get and considering $60~$80 a lot to spend on a stick that might end up not being any good.

There are probably going to be a lot of reviews from joystick "experts", so mine review is more a Joe Average look at how I thought the stick ended up being.

Anyhow, click here to check it out if you so desire.

Interesting review Eric. I'm glad you prefaced the article by saying you were not a joystick aficionado and explaining your interest or curiosity in the Fight Stick.

And...in other topics, isn't the LS-32 difficult to place in the HRAPs because of the mounting?

Arcadeshock finally mailed out my HRAP EX. Apparently, they didn't realize I paid for the item in full via paypal in August (hmm...how many months did we have to wait).

I do think the fervor right now with SFIV is probably going to die down after a month. From looking at the HD Remix thread, it seems like there is a small fighting game community at GAF (Seiken, Eggo, Ferrio, Akuma001, Haunts, Tekno, Guttertrash, MTHanded, Yeb, Mark, COAndy, Accronym, etc). But I'm happy Capcom and Madcatz were able to generate a level of buzz for fighting games.

Looks like Hori's got the button layout uniform with the HRAPEX-SE and EX2, about time

Shidoshi: Thank you for the review. I hope it didn't take too long for you guys to receive the sticks/pad, I tried to pack and ship them out asap.

Shidoshi: Just read through it... You really did your homework and were up front/honest about your experience with arcade sticks. It makes for a compelling piece and by far my favorite review of the product so far.

Just as my team put attention to detail for the controllers, I'm glad that this review pointed those details out. Great job!

hey, you're pretty honest :P

good review even tho i'm not buying the SE. i really like that you tried other types of games with it. was it really that bad for games like Pac-Man CE? but i'm glad that other XBLA games fared better. good stuff.

Lol.

You are not the only one, right side always kills me. Especially pulling off moves on that side with Jin.

Yes jin player here. :D

I don't know if I'm happier at the date or the insane stick! It looks like it will be the same as the Otomedius stick and use Sanwa buttons.

Also, another question for anybody who has gotten their HRAP EX from Arcade Shock. Amazon has a photo of it with the good button layout. I'm thinking it is an older stock photo but I'm curious if they changed it for the North American release version.

The difference between a stick and pad is definitely big, but it's really up to you, which you'll prefer. Growing-up during the glory days of arcades, hunting down every mall, 7-Eleven, or pizza parlor with a SFII machine, it'll be like returning home for me, once I get my arcade stick. Although, I do recognize that the feel will be different from the Happ parts I played on, in the past.

If you don't have much experience with an arcade stick, you might not like it. Though, with experience, you may come to prefer it. It's really dependent on the individual, so no one can really give you accurate advice on whether or not you should spend a large sum of money on a stick.

For me, I'm looking forward to using it for more than just SFIV. My PS2 Capcom Collections and SF3:3S come to mind. In fact, in light of the revelation that, barring a firmware update, the MadCatz sticks won't be usable with PS2 games on PS3, I'm considering getting a HRAP3, also.

not sure it's Sanwa...
those start and back buttons are a dead giveaway

I think it's just like the HRAP, JLF, just judging by the shaft cover (Hori levers usually do without, right) and Hori buttons. It would be neat if here was an LS-32 in there instad of a JLF.

I won't say why, but thats the word. ;P
can we infer arcade shock's was the same as Amazon's shipment if they match?

Nice review! Easy to read and really informative for those of us in the "Average Joe" category when it comes to sticks, pics were great as well...

Thanks.
