It's a pretty awesome piece. Yours looks like mine with the plastic wrap underneath the buttons, LOL. The Hori buttons are better then I'd expected.
Yeah, I was surprised as how tough it is to get that plastic off. I still can't get them out from under the buttons. :lol

Probably won't be able to unless I take the buttons off.

Heh, took the SE back to gamestop. They had 2 others on the shelf, so I was like sweet could I just exchange it?

They were 2 that had already been returned -_-

Here are my SE stick impressions from the SFIV thread.
SE Stick: I pretty much knew mine would be fucked up, the washer error seems like a problem that many sticks would have if they were mass produced. Mine has it. I go from perfectly fine controls to non-stop jumping/crouching/or running. It seems to only affect the left side of the stick. It's definitely manageable and playable, for me at least. But it makes me want my Sanwa stick even more. The buttons feel great to me, not too stubborn to use but not overly sensitive. Turbo works fine as does the lock function. The artwork also looks great. If the joystick worked, then this stick would be easily worth the 70-80 bucks. And even with a fubar joystick, I still really like it, I can actually somewhat play with charge characters now. The move card was a nice touch too. If anyone has any questions about the SE stick just ask.
So yeah, I already ordered a Sanwa stick on Sat. since I knew this would happen. This stick would be great if not for the crappy stock joystick.

More SE stick problems in this thread...I have a feeling there will be a lot more cases once more people get their hands on the stick and SF IV.

I glued down the washer and mounted my stick back into the case. So far so good. No sticking at all after trying it for 15 minutes or so in the HD remix demo. Hopefully this thing holds until my Sanwa arrives.

Same thing happened to mine today.

I'd feel confident in saying that all SEs (w/ stock parts) will shit out.
And you gotta love that 90 day warranty. It's really hard to recommend the SE, even to modders.

Guys I just wanted to update everyone that there will be an official announcement regarding anyone having issues with the standard edition FightSticks soon. We're not ignoring anyone.

I haven't been following the thread today, but I hope everyone is doing well. Street Fighter IV is here... so I hope everyone has a good time with the game.

Oh ok good, I am getting it this Thursday and was about to return it. So what will the announcement do for us though?

thats good to hear, also do you have any word when Canada will receive the Fightpad and/or the Fightstick?

Got my EX-SE from NCSX. Just in time for SFIV and DoDonPachi Daioujou Black Label Extra!! Damn nice stick and probably my absolute favorite in my collection.

Also, the insides for anybody curious:

That is a sexy beast Yes Boss!

Yes Boss, are you a joystick connoisseur?

I should have my EX SE in a few days.

I cancelled my Fightstick TE preorders with Video Game Central. So far I've spent $573 (including two TE preorders with Amazon) on SFIV, I didn't want it to be $800+.

They won't really be missed (sorry Markman).

I'm kind of sticked out. In the last few months...my stick collection jumped from 0 to 8.

HRAP 3 Amazon
HRAP 3 Amazon
HRAP EX
HRAP EX SE
Horie EX2
SFIV Fightstick SE (360)
SFIV Fightstick TE (360)
SFIV Fightstick TE (PS3)

Unless, someone reinvents the wheel (or Hori makes a 360 stick without a soldered stick and the same lame layout), then I'm going to chill for awhile.

Nope, no connoisseur at all, just a casual layman. Last year I decided to get into shmups and bought a Japanese 360 for them...the sticks naturally followed. Though I've had a HRAP 3 for my PS3 for a few years.

MarkMan's TE and the SFIV game further propelled things. I just like the way they look and function so it makes for a fun side-hobby.

I guess the next thing to do is to build a custom Wii stick since that is my favorite system and I'm currently shoe-horning a HRAP2 SA for the system. I think I'll do that later this fall, perhaps ripping apart my cheapy Hori Wii Stick and putting the innards in a Norris case. Don't know if that is doable, but it seems feasible.

Ok, i doubt anyone cares about my adventures with my SE stick. But basically started when i picked it up. Got home unpackaged it, real nice stuff, off the top one black button was kinda sticking out, popped that fucker in no big deal. As soon as i felt the stick, i felt an some stiffness on the sides, when i rotated the whole SE stick and felt the stick, i could feel that washer move with it. At this point I know the fix, fuck it I'll void my warranty. I decide to test all the buttons out first, all of them felt good and 5x better than the shitty hori buttons. But the guide button didn't work, it wasn't worth voiding my warranty when the guide button doesn't work. Almost voided the warranty, the warranty sticker started cracking cause i had it lifted but white out straightened that fucker out.

Called them up had 1 extra. I expected this to be a mess like the first one, all the buttons work (ALL OF THEM), the stick had no sticking issues. So far so good, I'm gonna open the case reguardless, to see if the washer is moving, but it does NOT feel like the first stick did where the issue was obvious. This one felt perfect but i'll find out once i open it and see if its moving. I'll post pics later on. At this moment grading the stick SE Stick = B+, HORI EX2 = C-, even with the sticking issue the first stick felt more solid than the HORI EX2 POS, buttons definately more precise.

There was a whole thread a few days ago about how holding the start button can act as the guide button. You can even turn on your 360 that way.

Came in yesterday. I'll have to wait 'til I get back to the states to mod it, since I don't have anywhere near me to make prints. I picked up the buttons on a trip to Tokyo, at some small shop in Akihabara. ¥310 per button, and no shipping. Not bad! I'm really happy with the stick as-is. It's bigger than I thought it'd be, which is good, and the Hori buttons are actually nice. They're a little slow and require more force than the seimitsu buttons, but they don't feel cheap. I've been playing some Super Turbo, DoDonPachi and Tetris. I'm gonna try out some Capcom vs. SNK in a bit.

Are you sure you didn't have the button lock switch set to the "on" position? I made that mistake when I first hooked it up - I thought it only affected the turbo switch, but it will disable the guide button too.

Damn, I'm so close to returning my SE Arcade stick with a lot of people here having problems, but I'm not sure though.

Please stop liveblogging this thread about your stupid SE stick :lol

Does the Xbox 360 Real Arcade Pro. EX use a square gate? I notice it has a Sanwa JLF stick, is it 8 way adjustable or do I have to order a different gate if I buy it?

I had a project a week or two ago with modding a Hori Wii Stick. I considered buying a Norris case, but ultimately decided to just keep it all in the stock Hori case (Norris selling their stock out instantaneously every time helped with this decision). It was a fun project. I'm considering doing another one, this time with all-Seimitsu parts. I've already got the experience doing all the steps with the first one. The only downside with trying to use a Seimitsu stick is trying to get the harness to fit properly in the nook underneath the panel. Sanwa sticks fit just by sheer coincidence that four holes are roughly in the right position - Seimitsu's holes are offset by too much. I could simply epoxy the harness to the case innards, but I am afraid of the longevity of that method, as constant force would always be applied to the joined parts when the stick is in use. It would need a secondary means of shoring it up.

Here's a melange of my Wii Stick Mod project photos:

Yes, it uses a square gate. You'll need to order a octagon gate if that's what you're looking for.

Ok guys, I am looking for resources for modding my HARP 3.

If you have links you can recommend that give detailed walkthroughs of the mods (for buttons or stick) please post them. Also if you know of any videos of people doing the mods on this stick I would love to see them as well.

:)

I'm soooo tempted to order the HRAP EX for my 360, even though I have a SF4 TE stick coming next week. :lol

I have one on Amazon as we'll, but i don't trust that date at all really. I overnighted the hrap ex overnight last week to have a stick for my SF4 import.

God, the white HRAP3 looks so much better than the US version. Want to buy one and bring it back to the states for me? :D

Detailed instructions are as follows:

1. Open case
2. Unscrew the hex nuts on the inside to take off the face.
3. Pop out and unplug buttons
4. pop in and plug new buttons
5. reassemble.

Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate

I think this is what I need. I have no idea how to put it in though ;x

quick update: i opened up my stick and to my surprise that washer, wasn't going anywhere, the pcb was still intact after 4 hours of playing.

Are you sure you didn't have the button lock switch set to the "on" position? I made that mistake when I first hooked it up - I thought it only affected the turbo switch, but it will disable the guide button too.

Nope, I thought so too, i kept switching the lock back and fourth, the turbo seemed to work but I couldn't for the life in me get the guide button to respond.

There was a whole thread a few days ago about how holding the start button can act as the guide button. You can even turn on your 360 that way.

Yeah I saw the thread and that is cool stuff but I prefer having a working guide button :).

So far so good, overall it was a small hassle opening up the stick, getting that gate off took the longest (around 5-10 min), but the payoff was good.

Anyone know anything about these?
img1-23233.jpg

Seriously thinking about buying one, but given that I can't find any info on this anywhere, I'm a little dubious. Especially as to how it got certified by MS (I guess it has a 360 controller in there). But it's perfect... HAPP (or HAPP-style) concave buttons and a bat top.
