OK, if I want to install a non-JLF stick in the SE, I'm either going to have to cut off the five-pin harness, or find a connector that is compatible with the existing five-pin connector on the harness. Does anyone know of a source for the male type connector like the one that is found on the JLF PCB itself?

Part: JLF-H

Any respectable purveyor of arcade parts will sell it.

Mine changed this morning too, finally got my money back,I knew it was some sorta hold. The thing that was odd was that it lasted over a week,my debit holds never last that long.

Glad we both have our money :)

High five! :D

I got my TE stick yesterday. Is it normal to not be able to pull off moves flawlessly each and every time? Sometimes moves aren't going through... could it just be that I'm not pulling the stick hard enough in a certain direction?

Isn't JLF-H the part that matches the harness? I need the (male) part that connects to it (because I want to use a non-JLF stick).

I'll probably just have to cut the connector off. Do you know the pinout? I've looked but haven't found it. All the wires are black, too. :lol

Ah, I understand what you need now. As far as I know, that part isn't sold separately - it's part of the PCB in the sticks. If I were you I'd simply cut the connector off, determine the pinout and wire whatever stick you are replacing it with directly to it. What stick are you replacing it with? I replaced a JLF with a Seimitsu LS-32-01 and that version of the LS-32 has a harness connector.

Hori's entry-level sticks were made just for people in your position. You want a stick for a game you bought. You aren't ga-ga hardcore about playing that game and all its incarnations for years to come. Once you're played said game to death, you probably won't use the stick that much. You are wary of spending a fairly large sum of cash on a gaming peripheral..a toy, essentially.

Comparing Hori's low-end sticks to the expensive HRAP line is like comparing Honda Civics to the Porsche 911 series. Of course the Porsche is a nicer ride, but not everyone needs a Porsche to be happy. Buy an EX2 or FS3 and enjoy it - it will give you months of enjoyment. If you find you want more, you can always sell it months down the road and upgrade.

And it cannot be said enough: a nicer stick will not make you a better player, nor will it magically make the game more fun; a lesser arcade stick will not bizarrely rob you of some special gaming satisfaction.

Thanks for the great response. Will probably pick up the FS3 then.

I'm going with a JLW. I know they aren't as preferred for fighting as JLF but I like their 4-way mode and I'll be doing a lot of that. I'll try cutting the connector off. No need in trying to save the SE stick, it's poo.

Ordered the SE stick for 360 at B&N, already got a confirm email that it will be shipping tomorrow, but I believe it when I get a tracking number. If anyone is still looking for SE sticks, I would give it a shot.

WOOHOO! Status update from Amazon on my SF4 TE stick:

We are preparing these items for shipment and this portion of your order cannot be canceled or changed. Delivery Estimate: February 25th.

I pre-ordered when they first went up, FYI

Oh shit go to check mine now. *crosses fingers*

Edit: Mine doesn't say that :(

Yeah, I ordered a PS3 one from them on Tuesday and got my tracking number yesterday. They seem to be the place to go right now to get a SE stick.

Same here! fucking yesssss.

I'm receiving my SE stick that I ordered from B&N today, but I'm going to call Gamestop Headquarters and get a return label so I can return it. I don't trust the SE sticks, so I ordered a Hori Ex Pro.

Ok,

So it looks like the 360 TE is "ship soon" from Amazon, which is as good as arrived. Ordered way back on November 26th.

My second PS3 version, ordered on Jan 16th, is still idle but I'll bet it will change status as well shortly.

Has your second TE stick changed status yet? I ordered one on the 16th as well, and it hasn't been boxed up yet :(

can we just return em to a regular gamestop or do we have to mail em back? Im rethinking my SE i just bought also... Might try to get an HRAP EX or mod my 15th anniversary stick instead (never modded a stick before tho!)

You have to be careful to watch your inputs. I sometimes catch myself not holding the stick corectly to make sure I hit the cherry switches properly. For example, when performing a double firebal motion you must hit the down switch, then the down and right switch at the same time, lastly, just hit the right switch, and then repeat for the second motion. I sometimes catch myself doing a complete motion the first time and then the second time through I might stop on down and right instead of following through to stop at the right only position before I hit my command button. This usually results in me pulling off a regualr move instead of my super, or a different move altogether.

It takes some practice.

Not yet, on the January preorder. Though, honestly, I'd be surprised if it does not ship in the next few days as well.

I don't think so. I called a local gamestop and they said you can't return B&N orders to their store.

Dunno, I don't think Amazon is going to receive enough quantity to the point they wouldn't be able to get it all shipped out in a day. I'm worried it's going to be either today, or April.

Have faith in Amazon!

If it is not this week then it will likely be by early March as opposed to April...at least going by what Markman has implied earlier.

Check if your stick shipped. My pad shipped from Amazon. I probably wont get my TE stick till March.

So i've used my TE stick all last night and some this morning. I've honestly adjusted pretty quick, considering i've never used a japanese style stick before and it's been many years since i've used an american one. I love it!

The only move i'm kinda struggling with is DP motions. I'm not talking about in SF4, since you can just use the DF, DF shortcut, i'm talking about in HD Remix and some games I tried on the PC (SFA2/3 etc) Is there a good trick to it, or do I just need to keep practicing with the stick?

You've been using Zangief and T. Hawk with a DS3!@#$%^&*

I know you have a Saturn pad, but i find it hard to believe anyone could play those characters masterfully as you could on that contraption.

I'm looking at a VSHG right now on ebay. Dunno if it's worth it. Well, I know it is...just don't know I should buy it right now or wait for the 2nd run of the TE sticks.

I like the six button layout a lot more than having eight.

It's a phenomenal stick.

Cord is short and it won't play nice with T5DR though.

My HRAP EX showed up this morning from Amazon!

(Haven't peeled off the protective sticker yet, not that the image is high enough quality to really notice.)

One thing I noticed that I hadn't read about ahead of time is that Hori included a couple of little stick-on clips that can be used to route the headset wire around the side of the stick, which is a nice touch.

I think I got lucky - a few hours after I placed my order, Amazon was sold out except for the scalpers. =/

Wow, awesome answer. Thanks man.

You convinced me to not bite on the Fightstick from B&N and get an FS3 ($20 difference). I guess I can just get over the complete ugly that are the button colors on it later (for a PS3 BTW).

that protective film is a bitch to get off too! It's still stuck all around my buttons and screws. I'll get the rest of it off when i change out the buttons but i was still like wtf!

It sounds simple, but just think of a "Z" motion (Or a backwards "Z" if you're on the right). If you concentrate on making the "Z" and just finish by mashing into the corner of the square gate then it should come out easily.

Honestly, I always find it surprising that people have trouble with DP motions when they get a stick with a square gate. When I was first learning with a Japanese stick I had much more trouble with the QCF for fireballs than I did with the DP motions.

All Sanwa? How short is short? Just curious.:D

yep, all sanwa. Hmm, not sure the actual footage but the cord is a little more than half the length of my HRAP EX's cord. not sure if that helps or not :/

yeah I noticed that when I started messing with it (upper left corner distortion)... I guess it comes like that before final assembly.

No0oooooooo my face. Congrats. Hope to get mine soon.

I started to mod my HRAP EX today with a LS-56 and Seimitsu buttons.

However:

IMG_0040.jpg

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK!!!!

The american version of HRAP EX has SOLDERED connections on the JLF! What the fucking fuck?!

Jeesus christ what a hassle. Now I need to go buy a soldering gun and actually DO something. Also I will need another metallic plate type SS for Seimitsu stick, otherwise I can't fit the stick in the slot.

:(

It's not just the American version. The Japanese one I got last year with the old button layout is the same way. No standard 5-pin connector on the JLF.

Hell, even the HRAP EX-SE has the Seimitsu LS-32 soldered to the PCB.
