All goodies bought. Mr DHL man will be picking them up tomorrow. How exciting! Postage ended up being £31 for a box with the dimensions 37.5cm x 24.7cm.... Height being 15cm and the weight 4KG. Not bad I suppose

I'd do this if I had some extra money, but I recently lost my job so I shouldn't.

Too bad though, because I live in Argentina and we have some GOOD ASS chocolate here. And I miss US candy so it's win/win.

And I was excited cause it was Mr_Appleby. And he seemed like he was pretty legit.

Oh well, I save some money I guess.

This friday we will try and round up everyone who got left hanging and try to rematch them. Worry not!

I did half my shopping today with Carmen. Today I'll get the specialty Madrid candy from the legendary store "La Violeta" (if they are not on holiday) and ship both packages.

I may or may not post a teaser pic.

Hey, if there are any spaces left - I have a buddy in the UK who would love some candy from anywhere outside of europe except Australia (because he's been there and sampled the delights)

Just spent half of my allocated funds and am up to about six pounds of candy! Didn't realize how cheap candy is in the States. Too bad we're avoiding chocolate. :(
 
My parcel is all sealed up and awaiting collection tomorrow. Weighed in at a whopping 16.5lbs, hope Litflynt912 has a sweet tooth! Postage was better than last time as I used a different place, only £42 compared to £68 last time.
 
Hm, kind of wishing I'd spent more money on packaged candy. $10 of mine is bagged stuff from a small store in the mall, and while its good it feels like I didn't send very much in terms of raw volume...

I'm to low on cash at the moment. Had a bunch of limited edition makeup palettes I needed to get as well as, and probably much more importantly, buying art supplies to redo a sculpture.

Not sure what happened, went a bit over budget and spent almost £45 but didn't think I had that much stuff. When I had to use an archive box to fit everything in I realised that I went a little overboard

Yeah this is weird but I spent $25 on my buddy and mine only weighs 2lbs, and there's loads of candy there.

Maybe you just have dense stuff, who knows.

Although, I'm worried about austrailian law:

Seems like they are pretty stricked. Does anyone have any past experience with that? Also I heard not to seen chocolate cause it will probably end up melting. Anyone concur? Thanks!

(Ps. Halo Reach NOT included. And the box is way bigger than the amount of candies sent, however, still a hefty one, 5.4 KG)
 
My wife will get back on Friday with the kids, and I'll be taking them on an epic candy run to get them out of my wife's hair. They love these swaps and I have them help with the candy selection each year.
 
Yesterday, Carmen and I finished our shopping. This is the "La Violeta" store, in Madrid. A tiny specialty candy store. The only one with the original violet candies.



Right in the center of Madrid, a two minute walk away from the Puerta del Sol. I used to get those when I was a kid and somebody in the family visited Madrid.


And after that we went to the post office to ship everything. First box is mine (or adamsappel's) and the one on the scale is Carmen's.



The clerk was warning us about how sending food to the USA is supposedly forbidden. So far we haven't had any problems in these candy swaps, but we included all of our contact data, just in case the US postal service people wants to ask us if that's anthrax or not.
 
Finished my shopping tonight, got some candies that are unique to Florida and Florida culture. As well as some truly American candies.
 
One of my original partners (Coins) has got back, had been having trouble with his iPad and PMS. He might still be up for adopting someone.
 
Man, this got expensive fast, haha. I ended up spending about $45 dollars in candy, gonna spend another $45 in shipping. I'm using a flat rate box, and I can't even fit all the candy in it (its a little thin, but its over 10 lbs of candy). Hope I can get everything to you okay, Tea and Toast! I got more chocolate than expected, so hopefully it gets to you okay. I overdid it a bit cause I'm pretty sure you can get some of this in the UK already.

Dang. Can't believe I spent $90 in total for candy! haha. Oh well, fun times. Here's the package before I sent it out. You can see it bulging a bit. Dropped off at the post office already!

Anyone have any tips on shipping chocolates? I googled and tried to look for insulated bubble wrap and special packing peanuts (made from cornstarch according to a site). When I asked my local office and mailing supply stores they just gave me a blank stare :\

Are bubble wrap and packing peanuts sufficient to pack these babies?
