I've been using Reeder for a while and I like it, but I'm frustrated by my inability to manage my feeds(subscribe, unsubscribe, change categories etc.). Is there an app that will let me do that?

If all you need to do is make a change once in a blue moon, just use the google website.

however, if you do it constantly, you can try feeddler Pro (5 bucks) it allows subscription editing.

Perfect RSS Reader also offers subscription editing and is 2 dollars (sale price)

note: I haven’t used either program so I don’t know how good they are for day to day reading of articles and speed to loading articles, etc.

Can anyone recommend a similar app to "Do it Tomorrow" ? http://tomorrow.do/

I like (The free version)

But not sure if I want to pay the $5 for the full version just so it can sync with my web browser. Think it's a little pricy.

If there's a similar app that utilizes your idevices and syncs with web for simple "To Do" tasks, I'd love to know about it.

Have you tried Wunderlist? It's OK.
Thanks so much! with just a few seconds with it; I can see it's already better than "To do (Tomorrow)" and on top of that it's absolutely free, it has a bit too much features though, I know it's strange, but I prefer the minimal design, (less is more).

Does it sync automatically with devices and PC? I didn't get around to test that yet, but I'm sure it does.

Again thanks so much, it totally does the job for what I need.

EDIT: Yep it syncs pretty quick actually

Dude goddamnit instacast 2.0 is the bane of my existence right now. I don't want to switch because I like having the same app on my iPad and Phone so it syncs through iCloud but jeeeeeesus its crashy and awful and HATE how it doesn't just default to the unplayed episodes screen like it used to it. Now it counts unplayed eps as just another playlist you have to open up.

BLECCHHHH, I hear downcast is nice. I may try that.

ALSO, like months ago I remember someone posting here that Reeder had a full rewrite incoming but it hasn't happened yet. Reeder is also one of my favorite apps but its a little chunky.

Perfect, yeah it seems pretty good for your needs. Syncs across Android & iOS & web and allows sharing so I quite like it for those reasons. It doesn't have basic stuff like recurring events and a few other things but if you need something basic, it's pretty solid.

Downcast is way better than Instacast. Universal, too and has iCloud support. I went from Instacast to Downcast because it was cheaper to get that (at the time) than get the iPad version of Instacast.

Orchestra = <3

iOS only, but by god it's fantastic.

No to.from to the world....

I actually really like it, the voice quality is great, (better than Google's Talkatone)
but like the Google service, I have a hard time getting friends here in Toronto Canada responding to calls coming from MA, USA. (a little set back, but not a big deal)

"That was you calling me?. oh....bu.. but, why did it have a weird area code and said the call was from Massachusetts, US?..."

It is a perfect app for the lazies like me who are on their iPad and need to make a quick call but don't want to get up and look for their phone, and it also does...well.. free long distance across North America...I like it!

Thank you for recommending it.

here are some apps I use daily

Google - best way of searching for things. supports voice search, search by image and Goggles (which is awesome), just redesigned the UI and the full screen image search looks great

Sportacular Pro - the best app for sports scores. very clean design. the only downside is that it only has mainstream sports

Reeder - by far the best RSS reader for iOS

Crosswords - pretty expensive ($10) but its the best crossword app on iOS

Yummy - it used to be a Delicious client but now it supports Pinboard too. very good for saving and checking out links on my phone

Web Developer's look at Diet Coda:

http://josephschmitt.me/post/23738549352/diet-coda

CONCLUSION

Diet Coda is great. Seriously. This app might not be your first choice to do serious work on (yet). However, if the only reason you’re taking your huge, heavy laptop with you on that otherwise relaxing vacation is just in case you get the 5-alarm-fire call from your boss because of a major bug that needs to get fixed RIGHT NOW (don’t they all?), Diet Coda and an iPad with an LTE/3G connection could be all you need.

They really broke Instacast in the latest update
:(

- Unskippable boot screen
- crashes all the time
- slow, choppy (but I have iPhone 4S? What is this supposed to run on, if not that?)
- fucked up some of my subscriptions (refused to display newer eps of Tested and Bombcast until I deleted and re added them. It then tried to download 130+ episodes of Tested even though settings say only to cache the latest episode.)
-Can't "refresh all episodes" command within the new playlists .. Problem is that the "latest episodes" screen is now a playlist. That's pretty much the most important screen!
- IAP for instacast pro now? Does it fix all the new problems, cause I'd pay if it did that ... even though it's ransom. :p

The old one was so good :(

Just get Downcast. i did it awhile back when I wanted the iPad version w/iCloud sync. Plus, it has some nifty features Instacast didn't have.

I use Instacast, but the changes suck... what features does Downcast have that Instacast doesn't?

Chrome is already Webkit though.

Speaking of Chrome it's almost crazy to think by iPad 4 iPad will likely will have the Microsoft Office suite and the Chrome browser, crazy how quickly the little guy is becoming a full on traditional computer.

Hi GAF, so what is the best app to read and purchase comic books? There seems to be quite a lot of selections. But which one has the nicest layout, presentation, etc.

I don't know much about comics these days(like to get back into them) but I wanna purchase all sorts of them, as in anything from indi to Marvel. Can I buy them all from the same app? Or Marvel has their own, DC has theirs etc?

Thanks.

I haven't found Skydrive too useful on iOS so far, it isn't near Dropbox that's for sure.

I expect that to quickly change once MS Office hits iOS this fall though.

i stopped using dropbox all together now. Since Skydrive gives me 25gb and now has a windows client i have no need for dropbox.

gigs, did you see the new location-based background update feature in Instapaper 4.2.2?

iOS doesn’t yet permit apps like Instapaper to automatically download new content in the background on a regular schedule, but Background Update Locations can get most of the way there for a lot of people. Simply add up to 10 locations that you enter and leave often, and Instapaper will frequently update without manually launching it.

Yep. Pretty awesome. I wish they would introduce a new background agent that lets you have periodic downloads though so he wouldn't need this workaround.

Oh thats nice. Instapaper is one of my favorite apps. My instapaper backlog is embarassing.

I haven't used InstaCast, so I can't compare the two. But I'm putting my vote in for Downcast also. Best podcast solution on iOS. Hands down.

Wow. Read this post and tried out Downcast. As an avid user of Instacast, I can say that Downcast certainly has WAAY more features than Instacast.

It's pretty amazing.

I bought my first iOS device two days ago, just a 4th gen iPod Touch. I bought it specifically for podcast listening, and figured iTunes was the way to go. Sadly, it didn't have any features on the device at all. I couldn't even subscribe.

Lifehacker said Downcast was the best so I paid for that. And it is an amazing app. I finally have something that will download, delete, keep track of played/unplayed, and let me keep podcast playlists that automatically update with new episodes.

I'm not sure I could have asked for anything more.

So, tunein radio. Where do they get there feeds from? The net or the radio? The reason I ask is because if I try to listen to the Baltimore station for the Orioles there is a licensing thing so I have to listen to an AM/FM radio to hear the game.

internet. You can subscribe to gameday audio if you want to listen to the games without having the radio.

AnyDo finally launches for iOS. Best/prettiest to-do/task app ever (at least on Android)!

Yup. Great app. Too bad it's not native iPad. Major negative, though: No autosync Google tasks for the Android one.
