Anyone using Reeder 3 with Fever? Mine takes a really long time to sync and the hot section isn't staying current.

Edit: The hot list does stay current. It appears that it's set for the last week despite me using it set for the past day in the web app.

I know they are adding the functionality in iOS6 soon, but what is a good card organizer? One where I can have all my discount cards in one app? Also, they wont scan off the screen if I have a screen guard on right?

I have always thought about using Fever, but I don't have my own Web server and I really don't know how it is to set it up and use it. Is fever something that I can post on a Mac book or a Mac Mini that is always connected to the Internet? Also, could you post some of your experiences with fever?

Dropbox released an updated version of its iOS app on Thursday, bringing revised video and photo uploading features as well as a new Gallery view.

Dropbox version 1.5 offers iOS users the option to automatically upload photos and videos taken by an iPhone or iPad to the cloud, a feature that was previously only available to Android device owners.

Users can select whether to allow auto uploads over either Wi-Fi and cellular as well as whether to download an iPhone's entire library or just new media. Connected to the new feature is the chance to add bonus storage to an account. The company will match every megabyte of data uploaded through the new feature to be awarded in 500MB blocks up to 3GB. The plan is identical to other Dropbox rewards given out for beta testing on other platforms.

In addition to the auto upload feature the app now comes with a so-called "Gallery" section that collects uploaded image files in a central location for easy viewing. Users can also tag favorite pictures, download photos to the iOS Camera Roll and send out a public link to the file that can be viewed in any web browser.

Rounding out the changes are options for bulk file relocation and deletion and the ability to upload a file of any size.

You can't host fever on your computer, you must have your own domain and host. I didn't give fever a shot for a couple of years because of that very reason. I've got zero experience in setting up a website so I assumed it would be way too much for me to handle. But when I heard Reeder was getting fever support I decided to give it a go and found that getting it up and running was fairly simple. If you know how to use an FTP client and your host meets the requirements you can set up fever without much effort at all.

For me, the most useful feature of fever is the hot list. I tend to neglect my RSS reeder for days at a time and coming back to thousands of new stories sucks. The hot list does a really good job of getting you caught up on the biggest stories from your feeds for the period of time you specify, check out the video on fevers website to see how it does this and all of its other features. I've been using fever for about 5 months now and haven't had any complaints, I highly recommend it as an alternative to Google Reader.

I can PM you where I get my hosting from if you're still interested. 2GB of storage with 50GB of bandwidth per month for $10 a year, that's more than enough space and bandwidth to host a copy of Fever. They also do domain registration so you'll be able to get yourself set up all at once. I'll help you as much as I can if you run into any problems, but I'm sure there are others on GAF who have a better understanding of web hosting that are more qualified to do that.

I'm going on a long road trip starting tomorrow, and we've downloaded Waze per this thread's recommendation and given it a trial run. Good program, but one question - does it have a turn list? We have not been able to find a place to just view the list of upcoming turns. It really comes in handy for in town driving, to plan lane positions.

You can add a google account under Mail, Contacts, Calendars and only turn on the calendar info. Same place you should be able to add your .com account.

Thanks for all the suggestions I have a few more questions.
What would be a better password manager lastpass or 1pass for ios?

and best way to see/read .txt on ios, and what is the best way to copy them to ios? to read them offline.

Maybe something like Simple Note can handle your txt challenge, I don't know if Instapaper could also handle it.

I know it was mentioned a couple of pages ago, but being from the UK I just found out about Songza. So far it's been amazing and the choice of songs has been excellent! (it's kinda like Pandora, but picks songs on mood or activity)

If you create a free US iTunes account, you can download it from another country. The app doesn't have any IP checking, so it works in other countries, unlike the website.

Highly recommended.

I use 1password and love it, I don't think you can go wrong with either. I use 1password to store a lot of other stuff also. Your previous question about a calendar, I use pocket informant .

Any opinions on Downcast? Or would you guys recommend a better podcast app? I really hate how you can't subscribe to stuff without iTunes on PC.

I like Downcast. Never used Instacast. But Downcast is good.

Note that Apple is planning to release a separate Podcast app for iOS 6, so they might actually be supporting subscriptions finally

I've been using Instacast since 1.0 and love it. The 2.0 changes were kind of drastic but now that I have gotten used to the new workflow I like it. My only problem right now appears to be a bug under iOS 6.0b1 that causes "Continuous Playback" to default to switch to ON every time I start an episode. I would prefer it be off permanently.

Just thought I'd post in here about an app that I think is incredible at doing what it was made for.

This is a pretty niche thing, but if you are looking for a package tracking app, Delivery Status Touch is amazing. You can add tracking numbers on the app or on Junecloud (the developer)'s site and it will sync to the app. If you have a tracking number in your iDevice's clipboard, it will automatically detect it and add it. It works great, the UI is great, and I love using it.

Really great app.

Damn, some of those calendars look awesome!

For me though, I cannot see myself using anything other than Week Calendar - http://www.utilitap.com/weekcalendar/

Having icons next to each thing (for example, football I play with one icon, haircut another icon, etc etc) is absolutely invaluable when just quickly looking at your upcoming month or whatever
