Used Waze for couple days, it's awesome that it has text to speech, great as a traffic app. Fucking horrible as a GPS app. It is pretty bad trying to figure out where I live so decides to keep me in an constant circle.
I'd use pages if it worked in landscape on the touch/iPhone.Jedeye Sniv said:Not really that I know of. There is a word processor app, I think it's Office2 (like squared) that can save via Google apps but there is no reliable, easy way to do it from what I've seen. If anyone else knows otherwise then please let me in on the secret.
Personally, I'm using Pages, dropbox and email in a kind of flow config. If I'm writing on the iPad I'll use Pages. When I'm finished (say, I get home or i'm in the office) I'll email the doc to myself and download the file on my PC which takes maybe a minute all told. And then I'll work on it on a desktop for a while. When I'm finished I'll upload it to Dropbox which I can then log into on the iPad and open the doc in Pages, beginning the cycle all over again. It sounds complex but it seems to work pretty well in practice. Basically, I just make sure I have an up to date version on Dropbox as often as possible, makes everything easier.

Oh god, come on. I know this. I'm just asking if there is a half decent traditional RSS reader that is free. I'm just testing out doing all my usual stuff on iOS with an iPod touch I'm borrowing. This isn't some huge indictment of for pay apps.LCfiner said:the best apps - the ones that separate iOS from Android the most - cost money.
not a ton - typically less than 5 bucks each - but you cant get the full experience without opening your wallet a bit.

though i guess i can see how it seems that way
There are all sorts of im and google talk apps available in the store. I know you are limiting yourself to free apps, but there may be something that better suits what you are looking for.Jtwo said:Yeah, NNW seems ok. I'm more just trying to get a handle on notification center. I have a small list of apps I'd be purchasing if I do go iPhone.
I'm getting VERY frustrated with the way google talk notifications are being handled though. I'm using Beejive, which I still own from when I had the OGiPhone. It seems like basically a huge crapshoot whether or not a notification banner is displayed. And messages sent from other clients/devices don't sync. Its kind of a terrible experience. I can't tell where the problem is coming from.
Its doing the old iOS 2.0 thing of dumping the last 20 messages into your chat window a few seconds after you open the app. Instead of just appearing behind the scenes and throwing a notification your way.
Well, Beejive was like 14 dollars when I bought it. Its something with the way push notifications work in iOS. I had a friend who actually owns a 4S come over to try it out with me and we just checked it out and its doing the same thing on his phone. With a different IM app that he is fond of.Vyer said:There are all sorts of im and google talk apps available in the store. Is there something in the notifications settings (in the iOS general settings) for the app that needs changed? Don't have beejive, sorry I can't check it out.Jtwo said:Well, Beejive was like 14 dollars when I bought it. Its something with the way push notifications work in iOS. If I can find a solution that allows me to have a sustainable gtalk presence without any worry or hassle of missing notifications I'll be pumped.
Nah, it's still how this piece of junk still works. There's no way around it. You should be getting banner notifications, though.Jtwo said:Its doing the old iOS 2.0 thing of dumping the last 20 messages into your chat window a few seconds after you open the app. Instead of just appearing behind the scenes and throwing a notification your way.

But is it genuinely incredible?Gaaraz said:Huh? I'm genuinely quite fussy about the appearance of an app but I genuinely think it looks great. The interface is incredible.
River of News or Flipboard really. I personally use The Early Edition 2 but if you want free these two are the best.Jtwo said:What the hell? Feedly is terrible. Yeah it's pretty solid. Though I think some of the radio stations parent companies have started to try their own apps or deals and have cut into the selection by denying Tunein. >:The Lamonster said:I just discovered TuneIn Radio.
