Camera+ is by far the best camera app (and there's absolutely no reason to use the stock camera app over it). It takes pics much faster and the auto/clarity filters make the the IQ better, too.

Can you launch it from the lock screen? Can you launch it from other apps? That's a reason why you wouldn't use camera+

What Marty said. Plus video recording, and HDR.

I could be wrong but I can't see any mention of either on the site/appstore
It has HDR (just called "Clarity" in the filter list). I'd rather wait a bit longer to open the app and take higher-quality photos (than quickly opening the stock app and taking something that doesn't look nearly as good).

Sorry you're right, I was just having a really good look on the site and the 'Clarity' feature sure looks far better than iOS' attempt at HDR.

I think my main issue is that I have a natural bias against Camera+ because I didn't like the lightbox or whatever it's called... I don't like the idea of taking shots and them not going straight into my camera roll so I can access them on my Macbook and Windows desktop. I guess I could set it to save straight to the camera roll, and then edit the photos in Snapseed/Photoshop Express, but I feel like I'd be missing out on something, hm.

Also needs a video option, desperately.

I believe there's a setting where you can choose to have photos save to the camera roll by default.

You have to add a new program to the OP. Best free navigation tool: Waze

I was previously using the free mapquest, which was pretty good, but Waze kills it. It has 3d navigation that runs very smoothly, and will notify you of traffic, cops, red light cameras, etc. more people need to use this!!! Especially since the extra content is user generated.

Ughh. Anyone get the Reeder update? Seems to have fixed the problem I was having with disappearing posts, but now all my folders are gone! I like this app, but man... Lol whatever.

As everyone keeps saying with regards to a news reader - try Feedly! It's quite depressing to see so many people on here saying they're not happy with Reeder for whatever reason, yet aren't giving an awesome free app a chance.

@ quadriplegicjon - pardon my ignorance, but what exactly does it do? it seems to encourage you to be on your phone whilst driving which frankly is quite dangerous IMO. At first glance I thought it was a really good free alternative to TomTom, but having read up on it:

After typing in your destination address, just drive with the app open on your phone to passively contribute traffic and other road data, but you can also take a more active role by sharing road reports on accidents, police traps, or any other hazards along the way, helping to give other users in the area a 'heads-up' about what's to come.

It's a neat idea but potentially quite dangerous I think. Typing in live traffic data and other incidents onto your phone whilst driving along.

Yeah, Waze is excellent after the latest update (which was a complete overhaul). There's basically no reason to pay money for any of the GPS apps anymore other than local map storage.

Yeah, it's actually quite weird. I think people have gotten so used to saying Reeder is awesome that they forget there are other apps that do the same thing (for free, and arguably better).

I have Reeder on my MBP and I use Feedly through Safari/Chrome more than I use the Reeder app for some reason..

You don't type, you just push a button... but you don't have to do it. I think they assume a passenger would be doing it anyway, or you do it if you are not moving. I guess they should put a disclaimer, but that still doesn't negate how good it is. I haven't used TomTom, so I don't know how it compares, but it is definitely the best free navigation app for iOS.

Okay, more interested in Waze now... so it's basically a turn-by-turn GPS navigation app (with voice too) that also has other features packed in? That is very neat. Thank you

Going to give it a try, thank you, and seems like it definitely warrants a place in the OP, unless there are any objections!

Also agreed Sentry, I use the feedly Firefox extension on my desktop and it's great!

Anyone have puzzle game recommendations? Or nutrition facts/diet/health apps?
MyFitnessPal is a pretty great tracker for nutrition, also Epicurious is the best food/cooking/diet app imo.

For puzzle games, you can't go wrong with Aqueduct 101, Slice It, U connect, Lasers, Geared, Blocks, or my favorite 3D tetras game, TetraDefense.

Waze is free, there's no reason not to try it. I find it works fairly well too.

For a free full-featured GPS app, Waze is actually pretty good. If I didn't already have Navigon I'd use it full time.

I can't wait for Kairosoft's Sim City lookalike to get localized, maybe it will dethrone Groove Coaster as the best iOS game.

Ah, Epicurious looks great, thank you!

And (lucky enough to be on a true unlimited data plan for £10p/m) the thing that concerns me most about Waze is the fact that unlike TomTom, it relies 100% on data... what happens if your network drops, like you go through a less built up area? Does it cache your entire route along the way, meaning you never get drops?

Here's an interesting app recommendation for you all (especially those with wives/families): Grocery IQ. You can create shopping lists that get separated by department. Also, you can input stores and the order they have their departments, and the list will be ordered that way. You can also scan most food items to add them to your lists. This helps if your wife gets something specific and you don't remember what brand it is. Also, you can connect with someone else's list. So, my wife and I have a grocery list. If I use the last of the milk or something while I'm home and she's at work (she works at a grocery store), the list will be updated for her automatically.

I have Feedly. I have them both. I preferred Reeder (when it was working) Feedly is alright, but I dislike the interface. It also seems to have a difficult time displaying certain images.

Ya, I just tried out Feedly and the interface is hit and miss for me. I prefer Reeder so far. There's stuff where I feel like there should be more feedback on how you interact with it and the flow is sorta confusing.

What's the hit or miss, exactly? The UI is simple, and the access to shortcut gestures that let you mark stuff as read/starred/for later etc is pretty awesome too. I would say give it a chance and learn it.

There are viewing options (grid) if the mag/list isn't your thing, but I really don't see any issues in its simplicity; just works. I like black on white better, but you can shake to invert.
Also check out the settings (in official settings app) to tinker with support more.

PS. Are you using it for iPone or iPad? Oh, and the website is pretty awesome too. So is the new Tumblr integration, and the Twitter/Facebook integrations too.

Tried it out on an iPhone. Off the top of my head, I hate how a lot of objects are just sorta static when you interact with it and some of the feedback is just a not very pronounced change in color. It just doesn't feel like I'm interacting with it because of how minimal the feedback is. I also don't like how you're getting four stories a screen and I have to constantly be swiping. That's painful on RSS feeds that you either haven't caught up on or are updated fairly frequently. A lot of the interface is unintuitive. Like how should I know touching the bar at the bottom brings up sources? Why is my Google Reader source just listed as other and closed. I don't like how the feeds appear to be organized nor how far apart they are spaced (seems like a lot of wasted space) Is there a read all? There's all sorts of things about the interface that just not very good to me compared to Reeder.

Other than not having a simple text list to scroll through, most of those complaints seem minor and tbh kinda picky.

It is a free, but really in terms of browsing, navigating, and the way my feeds are arranged it is perfect for me.

I would like a way to scroll through a list with no images, instead of the page by page, just for 'my latest' feedly feed. Some of your complaints I can't relate to/don't know what you're referring to tbh.

Well like I said, my issues are with the interface. Have you used Reeder? Being free isn't an excuse to me if you're trying to push it being better than Reeder. With Reeder, I can control everything pretty much by my thumb. I can scroll up and down easily, and if I want to mark a story as read or starred, I just push left or right anywhere on the story. When I do, you can see it physically move. It's the little things in how you interact with Reeder that makes it better. It's those details as to what seperates iOS from Android to begin with so I don't see how it wouldn't be applied here when comparing RSS Readers.

Feedly is very static in its interaction, hides a lot of the UI interaction so you don't even know it's there, and wastes a lot of space and is inefficient to use by comparison.

Is PhoneFlicks the best Netflix app (after Now Playing) or what?
Anyone else use A Perfect Browser? I've been using it forever, is there anything better?

hey guys, does splashtop remote desktop allow you to see/control stuff on your secondary monitor connected to the computer? i'm trying to make it so i can remotely control netflix with my phone from my bed, but the current app i have only lets me interact with my laptop's main screen, not my big screen.

i'd just be using boxee to control netflix if the pc/mac app was actually compatible with netflix canada.

That looks awful (and I'm a former designer). Tweetbot's price is mainly do to its exceptional UI design. In fact, all of the Tapbot apps have excellent UI's.

^ Tweetbot's animation is also top notch. and their push notifications are even faster than the Twitter website. Amazing value and I love the app.

Wait, Camera+ doesn't have HDR? Or video recording?

Well the HDR that the default camera has was something Apple got someone to do. It's not part of the api ;)

And as much as I like Camera+, I still recommend Procamera

It has all the features of camera+ (It had some of them first as well!), and also has video. And gives you the much needed ability to change the quality of your video (1080p isn't working, but that should be addressed later). Which is a welcome feature for 16gb 4S owners.

And yeah, feedly is.. meh and it also always seems to get the 'order by time' thing wrong. Reeder ain't pretty, but it's designed perfectly for iphone usage.
