how's ichi the killer?

outfuckinstandin'

Definitely a must if you enjoy darkly themed Asian cinema...but not something i'd recommend to just anyone.

Based on a manga it pretty much plays out like a hyperviolent comic come to life.
It is outrageously over the top, gratuitous, explicit, silly, offensive, bizarre, hyper, and ridiculous.

Don't go anywhere near if you're at all squeamish or potentially offended by copious amounts of blood, violence, rape, torture, misogyny and sadism.
It can be a pretty exhausting viewing.

If you're still interested at this point, then definitely check it out.
While you may not enjoy it, I can guarantee you've never seen anything quite like it.
I'm not sure which cut Netflix has up, there's a couple.
Just don't watch the horrid dub.

Broadway Idiot (Documentary, Music)

Threw this on since I saw the show a couple months back. Had no freaking clue that Jim from The Newsroom was the lead in the original Broadway cast. The end really made me wish they would put out a full recording of the show with Billie Joe Armstrong as St. Jimmy.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
Man, so much good stuff added today.

Winged Migration is highly recommended.

A lot of good add ons.

Also I watched Odd Thomas, and it wasnt that bad at all. Also watched parts of Don Jon and I dont know what to think.

I got to that part and I had to get ready for work. I am gonna finish it when I get off.

The message of the movie becomes clearer after that point and makes it worthwhile imo.

On a separate note, just watched Odd Thomas and I thought it was pretty good. Dialogue is very.. Joss Whedon/Kevin Williamson-esque. So if relatively young characters talking a bit too intelligently and self aware than most people that age would talk in real life bothers you.. you'll probably find that annoying. But if that doesn't bother you or you're actually a fan of that style of dialogue, then you'll probably enjoy it.

Cool.
And I agree on the Odd Thomas. Actually I quite enjoyed the banter between Oddie and his "destiny".

I thought it was terrible. The cg is INSANELY bad
the part where the guy cuts another guy in half with his roller skates
and the movie itself was boring. gore and things like that in movies dont bother me but it just came across as trying too hard. i only watched like half of it

Cool.

I did too. Big Whedon fan and like most of Williamson's movies. A lot of people don't though, so I thought I'd mention that so people would know ahead of time if they wanted to give it a shot or not.

Noticed on US Neflix as I was browsing last night that there's a new show called The Writer's Room. Hosted by Jim Rash, it's a roundtable interview show talking to the creators and writing staff of big shows. Only 6 eps in the season, but the first two are Breaking Bad and Parks and Rec and were really enjoyable.

I watched Don Jon yesterday. I thought it was alright. It didn't really leave an impression on me.

I think I'm going to hop on the Mad Men train after I finish rewatching Wilfred.

Just finished Insidious 2 and I didn't think it wasn't bad. I actually liked the way the direction they took the sequel. Much better handling of it than what Paranormal Activity has done.

I really need to watch these bond movies this go around
Edit: is there a viewing order?

Not the Roger Moore ones. Other than the memorable music I always steer clear of Roger Moore's Bond stuff.

It's at Timothy Dalton bond level.

Mr. Smith goes to Washington...one of my 10 favorites of all time.
Romancing the Stone...guilty pleasure.

Nothing guilt pleasure about Romancing the Stone. It is awesome. Now, Jewel of the Nile on the other hand.

I am about to finish season 3 of the walking dead. Anyone have some shows they would recommend watching while I wait for netflix to get season 4 up? I have watched archer, and house of cards on there. Tried sons of anarchy and prison break and didn't like them.

We're watching "The Returned" & absolutely riveted; French TV series (so subtitles) about a small mountain town where a bunch of long dead people return with no memory of being dead and at the same age they were when they died. Top notch.

its actually advent children complete so its the re-release with 30 minutes of extra footage :D

Ahh sorry for the misinformation. Netflix had the release date as 2005, the re-release came out in '09, right?

I have heard good things about most of these except Lost. Is that show really worth it?

Thats a tough one. Its an interesting and unique show and does have redeeming qualities but in the end it lets a lot of narrative threads open/unanswered and the very few answers it does provide are completely unsatisfying. I guess the question is, are you capable of enjoying the journey more than the destination? If so, then yes, give it a shot.
