Looks like the UK is getting a price hike too. Just got this email:

In order to continue adding more films and TV programmes, we are increasing our price from £5.99 to £6.99 for new members. As a thank you for being a member of Netflix already, we guarantee that your plan and price will not change for two years.

So, when people talk about it being so great they aren't talking about the entire first half or something?

IMO (and I am perhaps as big a Batman fan as you might find) they're looking at it through the rose tinted glasses of a 30 year-old's memories of being 10. They definitely have a charm but they are still stories for children, don't go in expecting much depth outside of a few key episodes (Heart of Ice yo!). The animation is also super rough and very doughy for that first couple of seasons, it becomes much improved. Season 4 is my favourite since it introduced the more angular style used in JLU.

Yessssssss, I can finally watch Batman: The Animated Series.

It is not as good as people make it out to be, and I say this as a fan of Batman and someone who watched the series as it first ran. At the time it was great though. But it was constantly hindered by the conservative nature of the day. There are some really fun dark concepts there, but each episode feels like it has a filter.

Yeah I agree but as I said above I think it's mostly because we're adults looking at a kids' show, expecting great depth is a bit much from it.

Although, remember the episode with the gangster and the priest? That was brilliant, I can't believe they made that for children.

Anyway, hitting 30 last year has kinda lifted a veil. I'm too old for most cartoons now :( Apart from Adventure Time, that shit is MADE for 30 year olds.

So... I decided it was time to catch up on 24. Apparently they removed it. Is there at least a way to see which episode I left off on?

Also, is there a way to view Netflix Canada stuff with a US account?

Not really. I mean, when it comes back, it will remember where you left off at.

Check the OP for VPN options. I will always recommend Unblock-us.

I would recommend to everyone here to start watching The Thick of It. Its a British BBC political satire/spoof. Its really great. Its the tv show that was the inspiration for the movie In the Loop and also has some of them like Ollie Reeder and Malcom Tucker (Peter Capaldi) who are in the movie as well. Peter Capaldi is just fantastic in this show as Malcom Tucker. Its an easy to watch show with episodes of 29 minutes and after 27 the credits already start to role. It has 4 seasons and its like an average of 6-8 episodes per season. Just go check it out if you have the time :D

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.

I have a feeling that it's not coming back anytime soon. The announcement/deal with Amazon seemed pretty significant; they've given it more exposure than any of their other exclusives.

Ender's Game (Mexico): Not as bad as I thought it would be, but not very good either. Average. The CGI is great. Probably the one thing the movie has going for it. Ford is phoning it in in his scenes. It is a somewhat slow moving film. The ending is rushed. I guess worth the watch if you are a fan. I never read the books so keep what I said in mind.

If you have a VPN, 24 is up in Mexico.

is Running Man any good?

Awesomely cheesy 80s Arnold. And I mean that in a good way.

Tonight, I had some company over and we decided to watch something terrible while drinking. So we picked Alice in Murderland. We were hoping for something so awful it is awesome, like many low budget horror movies. But this was just BAD all around. The production design was like a bad porno, but with a worse script. The women's costumes looked like they were from a bad porno too. The gore was minimal and laughably bad when it actually did occur. And what kind of D level horror movie doesn't have any nudity whatsoever? Very disappointed in that.

If you want something VERY bad, watch this.

I watched Side Effects tonight and thought it was fantastic. Great performances from Rooney Mara and Jude Law with a very twisty story.

I thought Steve Jablonsky's score almost made the movie for me. Particularly during the big scene near the end with all the crazy CG. Made me buy the soundtrack immediately after watching.

I hadn't read the books either but still enjoyed it. But yeah, it wasn't great but neither was it bad. I don't think the final 95% of the film should have gone how it did because it felt kinda awkward.

Link.

Battered Bastards of Baseball, about a defunct minor league team, will premiere on Netflix July 11. Mission Blue, about marine biologist Sylvia Earle, is set for Aug. 15.

Later this year, the service will premiere E-Team, a film about human rights workers from the makers of the Oscar-winning documentary Born Into Brothels, and Print the Legend, about 3-D printing.

Mexico has it. Just watched Ender's Game , was much better than I was expecting. Amazing cg and not terrible kid acting. Definitely could have been worse, solid b.

Now hopping over to canada for Star Trek 2.

I liked it as well. Seeing Ford actually passionate was worth it alone. Sadly I knew the twist, and I think it would have been so much better without that knowledge.

I honestly saw it as Ford phoning it in. I thought it was predictable even if you didn't read the books.

just watched donnie yen's Dragon tonight. nice little martial arts movie, certainly not the best but definitely entertaining. the inspector character was kind of an ass. first fight scene overlapping with his narration of the crime scene was really cool, as was the last fight scene.

I've been wanting to watch more donnie yen movies ever since seeing ip man 1 &2, and so far on my watchlist I have dragon tiger gate, 14 blades, bodyguards & assassins, flash point and SPL (which I can't find anywhere >:O)

Dragon Tiger Gate is based on an old Chinese Comic series, so expect a lot of over the top stuff. More so than what was in Ip Man. Flash Point has very little martial arts in it. It's pretty much an action cop movie, so it's nearly all gun fights. Good movie though.

I thought they really telegraphed it, it took me a few mins to realise it was still
simulations
even. In the book it's easier to
remain in the dark since you're just imagining a new game. The last chunk of the film didn't feel like a game at all.
The cg was mind blowing though.

I'm all for variety, so that sounds awesome. my friend got me into martial arts movies a few years back and he's been recommending me a bunch of Donnie yen movies the past few days, and he said dragon tiger gate is one of his favorites
